Rate this book
The beast prowls the ancient forest.

Driven to desperation by debt collectors, Caleb invites his childhood friends to a remote cabin, intending to rob them to save his own skin.

Little does he know that in the nearby forest, ancient malice festers, awakened by the reckless curiosity of Aline – a brave explorer seeking solace from the ghosts of her past.

As darkness descends upon the world, the creature that lay dormant for decades will rise again, and those unfortunate to wander into its domain will find themselves in the greatest nightmare of their lives.

With all odds stacked against them, who, if anyone, can survive One Grisly Night?

This chilling tale blends Lovecraftian terror, psychological suspense, and visceral body horror.

Trigger Warning: Insects and bodily infestation, lobotomy, extreme gore.

Writing means everything to me. It is my past, present, and future.
Creating new worlds and characters gives meaning and color to my life. Seeing them overcome the darkest perils puts a smile on my face, and seeing their sorrow and pain brings tears to my eyes.
By making my works public, I hope to convey these emotions and the sense of wonder to everyone who comes by my tiny imprint in this boundless universe.
So, if you are willing, join me on this journey through the lands between. Through underground depths and murky streets. Through dark woods and endless oceans. Where brave heroes arise and anguished spirits perish. Where through the struggle, even the most unremarkable beings can challenge the will of the mad gods.
Join me on the journey through the meandering pathways of my mind.

This was a interesting read. I enjoyed the werewolf aspects but could have left the bugs out! Yuck. I didn’t really understand parts of it. It was a spooky read though.

Too many things happening

I think this book would have been great with just the werewolves but there was just too many things going on, it lost me. Overall, it was ok. There is a lot of action and the creatures are scary. The story itself, not so much.

I liked it. Reminded me of the old B horror movies with non-stop action and gore.

There's not much character development but just like in those movies, I think that was intentional.

This book is jam-packed with the authors ideas. So many creatures, actions, moods, victims…it all gets diluted so nothing actually comes together.

It’s a story of addiction? Yes, obliquely.
Desperation? Yes, moderately.
Cryptid horror? Well there are werewolves.
Subterranean albino cultist monks worshipping an obsidian statue? Yes. For some reason.
Love and romance? Peripherally, fleetingly.
Alien species invasion? *sigh* Yes, that too.
Bugs that fly, bite, and burrow under skin? (Nods)
Transcendence or astral projection? No need to really ask, you know the answer.
Murder? Solid yes.
Trippy hallucinogenic dreams? Um-hm.

So what does the book NOT have? Mostly, my attention. A very frantic, frenetic amalgamation of every genre that really just falls flat. There is no thru-line of a story so each chapter is a hodgepodge of dream-like sequences that do not relate to one another. The reader has no idea what is really happening.

Cannot recommend.
