A pace ahead of the play can send you back to the start. And put everything you’ve worked for at risk.
Single mother and submissive Rebecca Bower abandoned her career as a sports reporter to become a media consultant with her brother’s hockey team. A failed marriage to a selfish man makes her wary of getting involved with another. Unfortunately, chemistry is hard to deny, and all her hormones are dancing when she gets close to the Cobra’s sniper, Scott Demyan.
Zachary Pearce ‘came out’ to the world last season to shift attention away from a teammate. And his one night with Scott Demyan had been unsettling. There could be more there, if only Scott was a different person. Instead, a night of sensual BDSM play with Becky leaves him wanting more, but she thinks he’s gay and questions his interest. It’s been a long time since a woman has attracted him both as a man and a Dom, and he’ll do everything in his power to prove she’s the only one he needs. Or wants. His one time with Scott was a mistake.
Scott might have forgotten what happened in his childhood, but the effects linger, and he specializes in drunken one-night stands…until he meets Zach and Becky and sees what he’s missing. But neither one believes Scott can be faithful. Although he’s trying hard to clean up his act to avoid getting kicked off the team, they want more from him. He’s willing to make changes, but the most important one—putting their happiness before his own—means he’ll probably end up alone.
Warning
This e-book contains material not suitable for readers under 18. It also contains scenes that some may find objectionable, including BDSM, ménage sex, bondage, anal sex, sex toys, and one man erroneously labeled as vanilla. Author strongly advises care be taken when using ladders and gym equipment in ways other than originally intended. And sex on cruise ships whenever possible. The author advises that as well.
Tell you about me? Hmm, well there's not much to say. I love hockey and cars and my kids…not in that order of course! Lol! When I'm not writing—which isn't often—I'm usually watching a game or a car show while working on promo. Going out with my kids is my only down time. I get to clear my head and forget everything.
As for when and why I first started writing, I guess I thought I'd get extra cookies if I was quiet for awhile—that's how young I was. I used to bring my grandmother barely legible pages filled with tales of evil unicorns. She told me then that I would be a famous author.
****ARC REVIEW**** Let me just start off by saying that Bianca Sommerland became one of my favorite authors in 2012. With this new installment of The Dartmouth Cobra books, she is staying strong up at the top, and this has become one of my all time favorite series! Bianca never disappoints! She not only brings us beautiful, well written stories, but she gives us amazing, complicated, sometimes frustrating *clears throat* Mr Demyan, characters that you just can't help but fall completely in love with them. Oh, and did I mention the toe curling, mouth watering, need a cold shower after I'm done reading, sex scenes?!
You all have met the main characters in the previous Cobra books: Rebecca Bower: sister of SEXY Cobra goalie Landon Bower. We remember her as the nosey sports reporter who got in a lip-lock with Scott Demyan in BREAKAWAY. Zachary Pearce: beautiful, unselfish, tough as nails Cobra player who "came out" to the press to turn the attention away from his teammate. Scott Demyan: sexy, full of it, Cobra sniper, who sleeps with anyone that has a pulse.
Not only to do we have the main story, but we catch up on the lives of some of our past favorites, like Silver, Dean, and Landon; as well as; Oriana, Perron, Sloan, and Mason. With these characters, we get more than a small glimpse of "Where are they now?" There are full on heartbreaking, emotional roller coasters that they (like the main characters) are all going through, and I have to tell you, I was crying before page 100.
"What do you want from me?" "Only what you're willing to give. We'll start slow.". "This is just for tonight. I'm not sure if I can come back." Her brow furrowed. "I'm not sure I should be here now." "But you are here. And we'll see if you'll be happy with 'just tonight' because I already know I won't be."
Oh Zach, how you make me swoon with your words. I LOVE menage stories, especially when they are written with amazing chemistry like the characters in this book. You can clearly tell that there is some wonderful, deep connection between Becky, Zach, and Scott, as well as some incredible sexual tension, that makes you want to say, "Come on already!"
"I'm straightforward. I don't play games when I want someone, and I want you."
It is really hard reviewing these ARC's because I want to give you all so many SPOILERS! But.....I can't do it! Just know that you are in for an amazing journey with OFFSIDE. You may think you know what will happen next. You may think that one story is closed, but Bianca keeps us on our toes for sure. All throughout this book I smiled, laughed, cried, smiled some more, and swore like a sailor, but you see, that is what makes this an amazing read. You experience all these emotions along with the characters themselves. I teared up when Mason put his fist to his mouth and a single tear trailed down his cheek. I couldn't help but smile when Zach called Becky such an endearing name like 'little doe.' I wanted to punch something when Scott frustrated the hell out of me, and made an ass out of himself. When you finish a story that has this much heart, you can't help but think you experienced something truly special, and I can't thank you enough for a wonderful gift Bianca Sommerland. I patiently await the next journey you take us on.
Offside by Bianca Sommerland is the6083064 fourth book in the Dartmouth Cobra series. The series follows the members of the Dartmouth Cobra hockey team as they try to find love and happiness. As a fan of the series, I was eagerly awaiting this installment. It did not disappoint and even exceeded my already high expectations. You don’t need to be a hockey fan to enjoy this delightful book – just a fan of good writing, relatable characters, and hot, sexy loving.
Offside is a beautiful, well written story of three people working past their inner demons and learning to find love. I found myself alternating between laughing and crying as I was pulled into the emotional roller coaster of Becky, Zach and Scott’s relationship. Ms Sommerland has created complicated characters that you can relate to because they are not perfect but have flaws and insecurities just like we all do. Becky has to balance her role as a single mother and a working woman and learn to trust her instincts again. Zach has to learn that even as a Dom, he cannot control everything and that it’s okay. Scott must overcome a difficult childhood and accept that he is worthy of love.
Ms. Sommerland adds to this emotional journey some really steamy sex scenes. Offside shows another side of a BDSM relationship and how important trust and communication is to this type of relationship. Ms. Sommerland’s attention to detail made each sex scene leap off the page and raise the temperature in the room.
Reading Offside was like watching your favorite soap opera. Throughout the series, we have learned to love and cheer for this dysfunctional family as they grow and mature and find the love that we all seek. Though the main focus of this book is Becky, Zach and Scott, Ms. Sommerland doesn’t forget the other characters who we have been introduced to and that we have grown to care about. Their storylines continue as they struggle with the normal ups and downs that come with a real relationship. It was wonderful to revisit with Oriana, Silver, Jami and their men, as well as, learn more about Akira and her struggles. We even meet new characters that I am sure will be seen more in forthcoming books.
Please note that this should not be considered a standalone book. If you have not read the first three books in the Cobra series, then you will miss much of what makes Offside so special. Offside is a longer than average novel, but this is terrific because you won’t want it to end. Fortunately, Ms. Sommerland plans more books about this wonderful hockey family. Trust me, you don’t want to miss out on this series. Offside is just more proof that The Dartmouth Cobras are the hottest thing on ice!
So addicted to these tough males and tougher females. Love their connections and passionate chemistry. Zach, Scott and Becky are so good together. Casey is adorable. But there’s so much more happening too. Wonderful reading
I may be closer to 4.5 stars for this one - and not because I didn't like the story. I did enjoy the primary focus in this book being Rebecca and her new relationships a lot. However, there were several sub plots going on with other characters and I felt it distracted from the "main" story. Don't get me wrong, I love when authors have characters we already love pop in to the new stories to continue the "family" idea throughout the series, but I felt in this one there were several "big" problems that came up involving these characters (not just foreshadowing for the next part in the series) and not a whole lot of resolutions - so still quite a few variables. I figure those will be ironed out in upcoming parts of the series and look forward to seeing where they go. All in all, it was a good book and despite the distractions, it didn't disappoint as far as the series goes - still romance, love, drama and some heat. I have enjoyed all the books in this series and am already looking forward to the next one - which I'm assuming will be about Ford.
This one was hot. I liked the emotion with Pearce, Demyan and Becky. I thought it was sweet. And I loved little Casey and how both Pearce and Demyan were very protective of her.
The reason this book got more stars than the others in this series so far is because the author has grown. I love how the previous characters have their own story in these books. Its like reading a tv show. Though the book is about these Becky, Pearce and Demyan, the other characters from the other books still have their lives. We get to see how they interact with the new couple as well as how their lives grow from where we left them in their own book.
Silver's postpartum. Landon and Dean's growing relationship over their connection to their daughter. Sebastian, Luke Carter and Jami. Even Dominik and Akira connect when he helps her get over her past. I really like how the author weaves all that in.
Where these books were just guilty smut pleasure, their stories are growing and evolving and I like that about this series so far.
But be prepared to know a lot of names. It's a full world and I still find myself trying to remember who different people are because she either uses a last name, a first name or a nickname for the same characters throughout the book. And since there are so many, it can get confusing. Especially if your life is as hectic as mine and you can't read the book in one sitting.
If you have read the previous Dartmouth Cobra books, then you already know what to expect from Bianca and she definitely delivers. It took longer for me to get into this story than I expected, because I'm a Cobra fan and expected all the drama to explode right in my face right away and to be unable to step away from the book ignoring all signs of life outside of my e-reader until I was done. That didn't happen, there was much more of a build up to the actual juicy part of the story. What put me off a bit in the beginning is that I expected a lot more build up for Zach and Becky's relationship and it just felt like everything was so dandy so quickly... But Bianca is sneaky and apparently has a sadistic streak of her own, all the drama hit as soon as I got comfortable and at that point, I could NOT put the book down (except when I had to cause life does still happen).
I love that Bianca doesn't abandon the characters from previous books to the happily ever after fairyland. They all make appearances here. We get our fix of our favorite blasts from the past, some of them still working towards their HEA. We also get a glimpse of the characters whose books are coming up next. I was already super psyched for Akira's story, but now I'm just chomping at the bit! All these side stories add more layers to the book, make the main story that much more interesting and get the readers totally revved up for the next books. That's some major multitasking!
Alright back to Zach and Becky and Scott. The character development was great. There were layers to each character that were slowly revealed. Nothing is as it seems at first glance. That was my mistake - too many assumptions at first about how everything was going to go and I was totally wrong. Yet, it was all just totally right. The way that Bianca developed their relationship was not at all forced, things made sense and were explained. I like that. And I had to just fall in love with all of them... Except when they did really stupid things and made me very angry and I had to shake my head in their general direction. I'm looking at you Becky... and Scott... and Zach... and Ford... and ...Akira... Did I mention I can't wait for the next book?
LUST! Yes, please. The sex was definitely HOT. Again, it wasn't forced, it made sense in the context of the story... the story didn't stop for impromptu sex or random spankings. It was a very good balance of build up, anticipation and delivering the right amount of hotness at the right time with the right people. Very well done.
The editing wasn't very good, there were typos galore. But I forgive that, because the story more than made up for the little bit of confusion that the typos caused. And the writing itself was good.
I rarely re-read books. Once I know what happens, there isn't much to hold my attention. However, there are a few favorites that I come back to time and again. I think that I'll come back to this story and I might need to re-read Breakaway now that I'm in the mood for more Cobra action.

Just when I think that Bianca has outdone herself, she surprises me! I am sure that the Cobras have converted more that one woman into a hockey fan.
Offside is the story of Zach, Becky and Scott primarily, but Dominik and Akira's side story was just as captivating as they all grow as individuals. Emotions run high from the first chapter as the three of them are brought together when a parents worst nightmare unfolds before Becky's eyes and she is helpless to react, but two heros will emerge. The three of them will form a bond that will satisfy each others need. Zach will emerge as an intuned Dom reading Becky's submissive needs, but a passionate lover for Scott. However, Scott being more of a sensual lover feeds both Zach and Becky's desires. Love does not come without risk and heartache before one can truly understand the other.
The amount of emotional and psychological healing that takes place is astounding. Scott's history is slowly exposed and a greater understanding of where his sexual and reckless behavior originates. His past will anger you, but the support of his loved one will help him conquer his demons. Becky's battered soul adventually realizes that it has nothing to fear from Scott and Zach, but she will learn that the hard way as she almost loses it all. Zach, well he is one that learns that hard way. When he commits he is all in for the long haul, but occasionally will need a gentle reminder of the greater good.
Dominik's strength is rocked to it's foundation, but a shy Akira will give as much as she gets from him. Their story is moving, and breathtaking as he becomes her source of strength while she finds her motivation to succeed. The birth of Baby Bower was an excited moment as we learned it's sex, but seeing Landon and Dean in baby-gushing mode was too cute. Silver's battle with postpartum depression played a pivotal point for the three of them. I see things changing for these two Alpha men as the series evolves. Deeper...yes :) Sexually...only Bianca knows and she wouldn't share that with me. ;)
The sexual bonds left my Kindle asking for a cigarette at then end. Becky's submission was peaceful as Zach allows her to give herself to him completely, but he is human and to err is divine. Bianca's ability to conjur those naughty images with her attention to detail will hook you from their first encounter at the club to one of the amazing motorcycle rides. You will not be left with a dry eye as Becky's daughter, Casey, seals the deal with her innocent look at love and acceptance.
One of my favorite passages would have to be between Zach and Scott...."Hell, you and Becky have alot in common." Zach presses Scott's head down on his shoulder. "Anyone can 'use' you. I plan to keep you."
Offside by Bianca Sommerland 4.25 Stars Genres; Adult, Contemporary, Erotica, Romance. Positives & Negatives There are quite a few typo/editing errors. They are minor errors that an editor should have caught. Dispersed throughout in a way that doesn't interfere with the flow of the story, there are still a lot of them. Just to many to ignore. There are a couple of places where the story drags out. Mostly these areas have to do with Becky and tend to be a bit repetitive. Speaking of Becky, I had a personal response to something she did that caused me to lose respect for her character. She redeemed herself somewhat later in the story, but it left a bad taste I wasn't able to dispel completely. Zach & Scott are great characters. I loved them both. Their personalities are well developed and complex. They really shine in this story. You find out why Scott has behaved they way he did in the past. It's a biggie. It may cause triggers in some people, but it is handled beautifully & skillfully with Ms. Sommerland's writing. The romance is definitely adult. Whether the scene was intimate and romantic or B.D.S.M. it was always passionate and sensual. There were times I had to fan myself. Lord have mercy can she write sexy and SULTRY! All in all, a dang good story & I highly recommend her books to anyone who can take the heat. If you can't, get out of the kitchen baby. These books are for Big Girls who wear Big Girl Panties. ;)
One of the best books I have ever read hands down. Bianca I luv how you keep all the main characters in each book so we get updates on their lives the good and the bad. I went thru 2+ boxes of tissues and couldn't put this book down even though I didn't want it to end. There are no words to describe how intense this book was. First and foremost what goes on with Dominik torn my heart and soul out. Don't want to ruin it for all but e prepared for the inconceivable. Scott, Becky and Zachary story is told with so much heart that I actually feel like not only that I know them personally but that I was there in the story watching. Gosh Bianca you have a God given gift of writing that few other have. This series as pulled me in for many reasons including the curiosity of ménage. Your stories don't feel made upor just a story but come with real emotions, life experiences and everyday problems. Thank you for yet another phenomenal book. You totally rock
What really makes all of these books so great is that while they are BDSM based it is the relationships that are interesting. This book was about Zach, Scott and Rebbeca relationship. But I also like the other characters. Akira and Dominik and how patient was he with her.
“I’ve never sat in a man’s lap before. It seems like something—I don’t know . . . like something a little girl does with her daddy or Santa Claus.” ~Akira
Very suspenseful with Scott's past and his self destructive ways in trying to handle it. So glad he became able to trust Zach, Rebecca, and his friends to get a handle on himself and overcome his past.
~*~ Note from the reviewer ~*~ First, let me warn you that Offside is the 4th book in the Dartmouth Cobras series. In order to fully enjoy your experience with this sexy hockey team please read the books in order... (Game Misconduct, Defensive Zone, & Breakaway)
Now how to express my love of this book without giving away any spoilers...I will do my best :) Offside is the brilliantly told story of Becky, Zach and Scott. Becky is a reporter and sister of a player who is experienced and familiar with the BDSM lifestyle. Zach plays for the Cobras and is also experienced and familiar with the lifestyle. And then we have Scott who is a team member that everyone loves to hate who is only familiar with the lifestyle without a lot of experience in it.
These three characters are so radically different from the characters in the rest of the series that it was a surprising and refreshing story to sink my teeth into...From Becky's young daughter to her horrific ex...From Zach's supportive family to his insecurities...From Scott's playboy ways and difficult past to his passionate nature and pure heart...But, not only do you get this new, powerful, dynamic in Offside, you also get to catch up with your favorite characters from the previous books. Ms. Sommerland doesn't forget about anyone that we've met and loved (or hated) before and gives us the continuation of their stories with each book.
Personally, I have been waiting for Becky's story for a long time. I saw a lot of myself in her from earlier books and Offside did not disappoint me. The connection between Becky and Zach is immediate and perfect for them, while the attraction is there for Scott, he has a lot of 'growing up' to do to fit in with the others. The emotional and psychological growth the characters go through is nothing short of amazing. And the writing style is so spot on that I actually laughed, cried, and even had a little heavy breathing going on throughout this story.
I highly recommend Offside to anyone who likes hockey, steamy scenes, emotional roller coasters, and catching up with good friends - because that is what each character Bianca Sommerland introduces us to feels like. If you've read the first three, get excited to catch up with Oriana, Silver, Jami and their men. There is a lot of background story with these three ladies and it is every bit as emotional - maybe more so - than Becky's story...Depending who you love, or love to hate, they all have a part in Offside and will tug at each and every one of your heartstrings.
If you haven't read the Cobra series or other of Bianca Sommerland's work, what in the heck are you waiting for?!?! They are not to be missed. I have read very few books that compare to the emotional journey she can take you on. The characters will feel like your best friends whom you will miss when they are gone. Bianca, how much longer until the next one, I miss my friends already??? Or is too soon to ask that ;) While this Bunny loves Scott and Zach she is still a Sloan Bunny at heart...even though Offside is my favorite book of the series to date.
I’ve come to have some expectations from the Dartmouth Cobras: extremely hot and emotional BDSM. And although OFFSIDE delivered on those counts, it was a very different book from the reset in the series.
Rebecca Bower is Landon’s sister (DEFENSIVE ZONE) and who had also been called in and hired to help with the teams PR. See, the Cobras seem to all have a reputation for being bad boys and there’s always one or two in major need of a revamp.
Zach and Scott had their first encounter in BREAKAWAY, after Scott didn’t think he would be interested in a relationship because it’s just not in him to give. While Zach does have feelings for Scott and has publicly come out as gay. But all of that changes when they are both attracted to Rebecca but it’s actually Zach who pursues a relationship with her, as her Dom and her lover.
I liked the fact that Rebecca wasn’t a BDSM virgin, even though her ideas where a bit warped about the lifestyle. It was then in Zach’s hands to teach her what a real Dom could do for her, until she learned to let go.
Scott has his own set of issues and it’s not surprising how he’s ended up after what he had to go through. I am not sure he was ready for that quick change and I expect to probably see him struggle, but I think the combination of Becky and Zach is a good one to help him through.
I was a bit disappointed when there was a small hint at maybe Carter being shared and then it never happened….Could it possibly be in a future book? Please pretty please? I kept turning the pages expecting to read that scene, and then it never came.
I think where this could’ve been a bit better was that we were trying to follow several storylines and that took away from the main couple just a bit for me. Not that I didn’t enjoy those other storylines, because I’ve come to care for the older characters. I’m very intrigued to see what happens with Dominic and I hope that he doesn’t end in another relationship where his woman is in love with another man. I think he deserves top spot now, and of course his scenes might’ve been the hottest in the book for me.
And then there’s Silver. She was pregnant, she had the baby, and then what happened? I was glad to see some good resolution for her towards the end and I’m anxious to see what happens next.
OFFSIDE was an extremely sexy but also unexpected in some ways. I think Ms. Sommerland is doing a great job at keeping me on my toes, not knowing what she has up her sleeve next. And I can’t wait for more.
Seriously, after I read the first book with Oriana, I wasn't really planning on reading the series. There was absolutely no need for five guys in that book for O to get her point across to her daddy. But fine, that's how then writer decided to go. While I did basically enjoy book one, I spent the majority of the read (and after), cursing the guys for taking advantage of an obviously emotionally f'ed up individual who needed (neon flashing lights clearly needed) therapy for her emotionally abusive relationship with her father. Granted, she may have made the same or similar choices after said therapy. Anyway, I didn't really get O and over the books I've actually come to dislike her too. My other irks that turned me off reading the series was the constantly changing names for each character. Still now... Every time Max is mentioned... I am thinking of Dominik. And that O clearly stated she wasn't up for submitting outside the bedroom, but the guys paid NO attention to that inconvenient fact.
So, if your still with me, you may be wondering why I bothered with book two. Well... I forgot. I was looking for a book and saw 2. I remembered that I just didn't get O and her FIVE guys, but I like a good mfm with an alpha or two. So, I brought it and quickly remembered that the name switching irritated me (but I'm over that for the most part - while still mixing up Max and Dominik in name but not character).
Anyway, went straight from book 2 to 3 and then started stalking book 4. And I really enjoy them all! As far as characters go, Max is still a non-entity for me though not quite as bad. Slones stock has risen, although I still can't relate at all to the sadisim. Oriana just irritates the crap out of me, and I'd be fine if she never made another appearance. And I'm pretty much lovin' the rest of our boys and girls... And Peanut!
Can't wait for the next book. I'd love to watch a tv series on the threesome dynamics in life (community and family etc), but I guess that would quickly become porn... Or HBO ;)
Looking back, I realize I haven't said much about this book (just bitched about O who I seem to have real issues with). In reality, there is not much too say. Offside is good, really good and def worth the read. I love books 2,3&4. And 1's not bad... Just annoying.
...so what are you still here for... Go read the damn books
So coming into this book, it really felt like the series had matured. The characters from previous stories play into the the main trio, and they also have full side stories of their own. Some arc and conclude, but some are still in the midst. Others are facing life after their HEA, and it isn't always smooth sailing. That being said, you are still immersed with the new trio, and it isn't just updates from others
The nice thing about a series, you know the characters a bit before their time comes around. In this case, Scott and Becky have had major parts in other stories, and Zach was a catalyst in the previous book. While Zach didn't seem to fit in as the piece Scott and Becky were missing, he did it so well, even when he fell apart, it was almost seamless
We knew Becky had some past issues to overcome, and they do play front and centre. She does some silly things, but then again, she gets a fair amount of silly back. She is what most single moms have to explore, where is the balance between mother and woman? Where do the lines dash, dot, solid or bolded? She makes mistakes and is set in her ways, but she is relateable and endearing throughout it all
Scott broke my heart, completely and utterly devastated by him, sobbing and ugly crying out of the blue. The way he sees himself, his flaws and, and, .... his humanity makes you love him more than anyone, even little Casey. He is so confused, and has had his thoughts and feelings so warped, he believes the wrong, even though he knows deep inside, it is wrong. Needless to say, even though I am two books past this one, I still want to coddle him, while licking him, but still. His story is one that stayed with me, and probably always will
Needless to say, this story is understated with its' characters, but that made it all the more powerful. There really was no question of the devotion and pull between these three. It weaves into every interaction, all their time together, and they compliment each other so perfectly, any discord between them, pulls at you!
Wow. I don’t even know where to start with this one. I don’t think I can put into words how much I loved this book. If you know anything about me then you probably already know that I am a total cobra slut. Bianca had me hooked about 30% into Game Misconduct. She took a southern girl who can count the number of times she has seen the ice in her life on one hand, and turned her into a hockey lover. However Offside is in a league of its own.
The emotional roller coaster I went through reading this book was enough to wear a girl out. Not only do you get the story of the 3 main characters, Becky, Zach & Scoot, but you get to catch up on the lives of characters from previous books. We get to learn more about what’s going on with Orianna and her men, Silver, Landon & Dean, and Akira too. Let me tell you that these stories will have you clapping one minute and bawling your eyes out the next. So keep the tissues nearby.
Speaking of being worn out, the emotions aren’t the only things messing with you in this book. The sex scenes are enough to get you wanting a jumbo glass of ice water. The way Bianca writes a ménage scene, OMG…..
His hands curved around her inner thighs. Another set of hands stroked just above them. Zachs. She let out a little pleading noise as he used his fingers to part her pussy lips. To hold her wide open as Scott’s tongue finally came to her, licking along one side of her folds, then the other.
I don’t want to go into too much detail. Since the book was just release I don’t want to spoil it for anyone. However I do have to say that if you are even remotely into BDSM or MMF books you have got to read this. If you haven’t read the other Cobra books yet start there though. This is not a standalone book. Though I can say with confidence that once you start the series you will be hooked !!!

Offside is the fourth book in The Dartmouth Cobras series by Bianca Sommerland. While this book is part of a series it can be read and enjoyed as a standalone novel but I find it best read as part of the series.
Rebecca Bower left being a sports reporter for becoming a media consultant for her brother’s hockey team. After a failed marriage that left her wary about getting close to anyone, Scott Demyan still get her hormones dancing. Zachary Pearce is Dom and “came out” as gay last year is also interested in Scott only if he were a different person. Scott is working hard to clean up his act to avoid getting kicked off the team. Scott is attracted to Zach and Becky and wants more.
Becky is a single mother who came out of a bad marriage that left her shy about getting back into a relationship. She was not perfect and had to work hard to let both Scott and Zach in. Zach wants a relationship with Becky but still desires Scott. I loved how a ménage relationship was not the first thing they tried. All parties had to work on their demons then the ménage relationship evolved.
The chemistry between Scott, Zach, and Becky is blistering hot. The sex scenes were steamy. I loved how Ms. Sommerland stressed how important trust is in a BDSM relationship. I loved how Zach, Scott, and Becky had to work to make their relationship grow and thrive and that there were bumps in the road that they had to overcome.
I found this story to be very well written. I loved that the story lines from past books continued. The main and secondary characters were intriguing and realistic. This book takes you through a wide range of emotions from wanting to laugh to cry to being angry. Overall, this was a wonderful story. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.
Mmmmkay, so here's my review.... Of course there is the huge amount of spelling errors and whatnot. Actually, it reminded me of the first book in terms of those. It doesn't detract from the story if you are used to editing in your head.... Ugh. So now on to my NEXT big issue.... the author, for whatever reason, decided to rip a HEA couple apart. Also, I found the ripping of the couple up to be.... bad. She didn't hint at the amount of disrespect Oriana has to the lifestyle.... I mean.... if you seriously want me to think the chick has ANY respect for the lifestyle, then the author should have MADE her go to Dominik. It's the lack of respect for that part of the lifestyle that REALLY pissed me off. You want out of the relationship? Own up to it, and go talk to Dominik your fucking self. I understand that Max isn't in the lifestyle, but he should know enough about uncollaring a sub/slave.... Or maybe not. I honestly don't want to see any more of Oriana because she sickens me..... Like really. So here's what happened... Oriana didn't have the balls to talk to Dominik about ending their relationship, so she had Max cut her collar off. OMG so disrespectful. No, I really do NOT care what happens to her, but I do like that the author helped Dominik heal..... I also found the tension between Ford and Akira to be quite believable. Also found Scott and Zach to be extremely cute and loving. I would have given the book 3 stars, but Oriana ruined the star count. =/
I have to say that I was a bit disappointed with book 4. It kind of had a feel of trying to be all things for all people and ended up lacking a bit in all areas. It had a lot of updates of characters from previous books and obvious story building for future books. Don't get me wrong, it was great to get these, but I felt it distracted from the main characters in the story. I get that with all of the characters are so involved with each other’s lives it would be hard not to include their full tale. It was still distracting.
I also started getting mixed up with names again. First name here, last name there, an introduction to new characters using both names. It was brought me out of the story again and again having to remember who was who. Although the book had the team roster at the beginning, it is a pain in E-book to refer to it.
I just read what I wrote above. It sounds like I did not like the book. I did. I am into the world and am enjoying it. I just think it could be so much more focused and driven, which would make it hotter. I will keep with this series. I like it. My husband thinks it hilarious that Halifax has a hockey team. By the way, why Dartmouth Cobra’s and not Halifax? The forum is in Halifax. Haligonian’s would never have allowed this grave injustice in team naming! lol
OK at 400 plus pages one might have expected a VERY in-depth relationship growth, and some intense scenes.....but it took me nearly a week to read (amazingly!) purely because I was befuddled at the number of things NOT happening in at least THREE relationships ALL going on at the SAME TIME!
Confused? You bet! If the story had just consisted of Becky, Zach and Scott (and possibly only 200 pages) I would have been fine. But we also had to look at Dean and Landon with falling-apart Silver after the birth of her daughter. And with Domenic depressed after Oriana (and her two guys) leaving, and Akira with all her hang-ups, not to mention Ford (complete dickwad), all trying hard to connect.....well, it was just too much kerfuffle for me to be bothered with. Oh, and we had to be kept up to date with ALL the injuries players had (yuk!)
I'm not particularly au fait with Ice Hockey teams and their seasons, but WTF did they need an ocean cruise for?? It's not that anything really happened here, just that some peeps were parted from their partners, and - oh, yes, Scott decided to play nice with Zach - which could have happened anywhere else at any time.
The first three books in the Dartmouth Cobras series were very good; this one was just disappointing.
I LOVED this book. Not only did bad boy Scott get his HEA but he got it with Becky & Zach *sighs*. I also love that all our fav players & girls made their appearance in this book. Can't wait for the next book already!!!
Loved Zach & Scott throughout the book. But God I hated her!! Her excessive need to whine & complain & start problems for no reason nearly had me not finish this book. But I pushed through because of the rest of the characters you can't help but love.
Wow, not quite sure where to start with Offside. I was bouncing back and forth between 4 and 4.5 for the rating. There were parts I loved and then parts I was a little unsure about. Sometimes it got a little overwhelming with the 3-4 different sets of couples. However, it was still a fun read for me, and it still sits high on my list of fave series. There is just something fun about alpha males, ménages, friends, family, romance, drama, AND a HOCKEY team full of DOMS.
When I came across book four, I was wicked excited to see that it would be Zach and Scott's story. They grew on me throughout the other books, and Zach captured my attention and my curiosity when he came out to the public to take the spotlight off another team member. Nevertheless, I also had mixed feelings about it because of the cliffhanger book three ended with. I didn't want to see what the author would do with Sloan's character. He is my fave Cobra, so I can honestly say my heart has been sitting in my stomach while I waited to find out where Bianca was going with that story line. That was one of my dislikes in Offside. I don't want to ruin it for anyone who may be waiting to see the outcome, so will leave it at that.
Scott has slipped into my number one spot in this series. Thank you Bianca for giving Scott a book, a back story, and so many different dimensions to our resident bad boy. If you have read the other books (which I highly suggest otherwise you will be lost if you try to read this as a standalone) then you know Scott is a major ass and he is a male slut. Player isn't a strong enough word to describe him. Bianca opens up Offside with a scene that gets him kicked out of Tyler's house, proving exactly that point. Scott grew through this book, and my heart broke for him on multiple occasions. His journey to "prove he could be worthy" was a hard road, often frustrating. I felt like he didn't actually get the recognition he deserved at times, and he felt like second fiddle. I totally get why Zach and Becky (not always a huge fan of hers) were hesitant, but there were times I was like seriously. You call that love. If they were real people in front of me, I would have told them to put their big boy/girl panties on and get the hell over themselves. Can you tell Scott has taken a special spot in my heart? Scott had his reasons for his behaviors and when I learned them, I just wanted to scoop him up and let him know he was loved. Zach and Becky be damned, although if I am being honest I loved the way they handled Scott's past.
Zach, oh boy Zach. He surprised me the most. Not sure why, he just did. There was nothing about him that disappointed. Bianca gave us a Dom with insecurities, vulnerability, possessiveness, tenderness, AND faults. She portrayed him as a human. I say this in the sense that many times when we read about a Dom he has it all together, very rarely do you see his vulnerability and mistakes. They have to be so strong and in totally control of themselves in order to provide properly for their subs. It was nice to see his control slip while watching him struggle through uncharted territory. When he showed those moments of alpha mixed with tenderness, I thought I would wet my panties. He delivered, on more than one occasion. Zach was perfect when he took over and tried to take care of those he loved, his patience showed no bounds. Same as his loyalty and love.
Silver, Landon, and Dean. I needed a separate story for their updates. Their updates felt like they were just stuck in and sometimes over took the main characters. I loved reading about them don't get me wrong but I would of loved it even more if they had their own short story so Bianca could have delved in more. These three bring a lot of chemistry and intensity to the table. Being able to experience their intensity first hand instead of being told or watching it unfold from the "sidelines" would have made a bigger impact on me. I would have cared more that Silver had some serious issues going on in that mind of hers. As it was, I felt "sad" for Landon and Dean, but all I really wanted was to get back to Zach and Scott. However, I am glad that they came to a happy conclusion towards the end. Out of all four books they are my favorite "triple," with the other books I usually only like two out of the three.
With that being said, here is where I felt disappointed a bit, only a bit now. Zach, Rebecca, and Scott. I had a love/hate relationship with this trio. I adored Zach and Scott, I adored Zach and Becky (at times), who I didn't adore was Scott and Becky. I did not feel their chemistry. I honestly could not picture them together through the first half and it seemed like Scott was sometimes an afterthought for her. I mean I felt their "friendship" but not their intensity as a "couple." Towards the end, they grew on me, but at first yeah it felt a little off. His place in this ménage felt more like a third wheel at moments.
Now Zach and Scott (give me a second to cool down...fanning myself). Every scene between them held me captive and at full attention. His chemistry with Scott was off the charts. It was hella fun watching Zach try to control his Dom urges around Scott, while Scott continuously reminded him that he didn't swing that way.
Ok now you know why I was on the fence, but want to know what won me over the most with this story and slid this story into a 4.5 rating? Casey, Becky's daughter. Yeah I enjoyed hanging out with the gang and I definitely enjoyed getting to see Zach and Scott find their HEA, but the minute Casey started to interact with these two I was captivated. The men were absolutely AMAZING with her. Both of them. Zach and Scott were meant to raise a child together and I couldn't help but smile huge while reading those parts.
I love hockey romance but the switching back and forth between their first and last names is just too confusing, the only people who were not confusing were Ford, Laura, Becky, and Chicklet because they are never called anything but that. In this story Becky, sister of the Cobra's primary goaltender falls for Zach who has already announced that he is gay but in reality he is bisexual. Meanwhile Scott Demyan, the team man slot is out of control and has been told to clean up or they won't br giving him a new contract. Both Becky and Zach have feelings for Scott but neither are willing to take a chance until he proves himself. Becky also is a single mom so she has to keep that in mind, not just her own feelings.
Must read series in order. Read books 1-3 in a box set on my kindle last week. and was hooked into the series. BDSM, erotica, mfm, ffm, mm, and family. Hockey team. Bought books 4-9 so I can read complete series. Only thing I didn't like in this book and book 3 were spelling errors, incomplete words. Over all excellent read.
Every new book added to this series allows these characters just bury themselves deeper into my heart. With the addition of Offside, which is book four in the Dartmouth Cobras series, I have come to respect and admire even further the talent that Ms. Sommerland holds. She takes some very difficult situations and allows her readers to feel pain, hurt, sadness, and eventually healing and consuming love. It’s much more than just reading a story. It’s as though you are experiencing a journey.
I loved the way that Becky, Zach and Scott balanced the needs of each other. The BDSM aspect in this book was so beautifully written that even if you’re not a fan of that genre, it consumes your attention. She shows the honesty and the realism of the lifestyle, but also balances it out for what works for this relationship. BDSM is not the same for everyone. There is no wrong or right way to play as long as it’s consensual and safe. There was much to learn and many obstacles for these three people to overcome, but ultimately it just made them stronger and solid.
This is a very long book. There is a lot going on. It’s not too much to keep track of and it’s not overdone with repetitive descriptions, there is just a lot of story. I absolutely loved that. You get to know the team, the families and the history. It helps you form a connection to them all. There is quite a bit of build up for future books and so many directions she can take it from here. I’m excited to see what she has in store for us.
Bianca is a huge hockey fan and her love for the sport flows off the pages. The team interaction, locker room and ice chirping are spot on. When she writes an actual ice scene it’s easy to picture yourself sitting by the glass watching it happen. She transports you right into the action.
There were a few situations that I personally struggled with. One involves Becky just taking off after questioning her relationship with Zach. I understand why she did it, and things worked out in the end, but it just made me look at her differently after that scenario. It made me lose loose a little respect for her. It may be that Zach was just portrayed as such a caring trustworthy character that it confused me why she couldn’t see that. Or perhaps, it is because I am a little in love with Zach and it upset me that she upset him. Yes I know he’s just pretend, but I swear the way she writes about her characters, you feel as though they are very real. As I said, she does redeem herself and they are able to overcome, but it just left me with mixed feelings about her after.
Overall I loved this book. It was passionate, emotional, and very honest in many heartbreaking circumstances. It’s truly a book that centers on conquering the past and claiming a much deserved happy future. Let’s just say Ms. Sommerland is a mastermind at writing scorching hot sex. Whether she is writing a ménage, m/m, club scene, or hell even sex on a bike, this lady knows how to do it right! I do recommend that you read the prior books in this series to be able to fully appreciate all that happens in Offside. There are a lot of side stories happening, and I think you would be lost if you haven’t read the first three books. No question once you start them you will be pulled into to this incredible sexy series.
