Hebrew Translation In weeks you will learn how to translate Hebrew. It will not be a lot, but you will read the first 5 verses of Genesis if you do your work. I’m working on the next book which will take you further. Learning Hebrew doesn't stop with the alef bet. It continues to reading the Torah as if it were English. You won’t get that far in this book, but you will be going in the right direction. There is nothing easy about learning Hebrew. But it can be simple if you just give me 20 minutes a day
This was a cheap book for my Kindle which I figured would be a great review since my Hebrew is getting a little rusty. Thaller writes from a Jewish perspective and teaches the Hebrew alphabet and vowels so that readers can read the Torah in Hebrew. The focus is not on grammar, syntax or memorization. Instead Thaller recommends reading the Tanakh alongside an English translation for about twenty minutes today, and learning organically the vocabulary and syntax. Additionally Thaller suggests other resources in print or online (mostly Jewish resources, but he also advises using the Blue Letter Bible online).
The final section of this book is a 'beta' version of his next book. Thaller reviews Genesis 1:1-5 over a five day period where you learn the vocabulary in these passages by reading and review. The beta version here is still a little bit too beta, but could be helpful for those beginning Hebrew.
This is one of the better ebooks to get started in learning the Hebrew language that I have found. The resources are great and I have plans on using them as I learn Hebrew again as I have forgot what I had learned may Yeats ago.
