Break to Break

Neji has always been in control. There's just one problem. It's killing him - and only Shikamaru can tell. But sometimes being pulled back from the edge is just as dangerous as being pushed there.

NEVER HAVE I READ A MORE BEAUTIFULLY WRITTEN, MORE ENGROSSING, OR MORE EMOTIONALLY TRAUMATIZING FANFICTION OR PIECE OF LITERATURE.

First of all, this is called Break to Breathe. This is one of my favorites in fanfic, and not a published book since it's about characters and a story taking place in a world created by someone else. It's super long and there are three other books following. I love it, but it is not for everyone. If think you would appreciate a story in the world about gay ninjas of the Fire Nation (Naruto). It's surprisingly well-written for a fanfic (although a bit prone to purple prose from time to time). If you're a shikaneji fan (like me) this might be something for you. If you have absolutely no idea what I'm talking about, you shouldn't really bother. If this seems interesting you'll find it all at Archive of Our Own.

Break to Breathe is clearly one of the best pieces I've ever read. Rayne's writing is captivating, deep, raw and real. She will dig her fingers down the scars of each character she touches, creating so many emotions and reactions that no one can keep indifferent while reading. Definitely a must read!
