I'm trying to find the balance between the things I liked and the things I didn't. I liked the voice, the self deprecation, the pace of the book...it read like a subdued Mark Remy article. While the advice offered has been written about ad nauseam elsewhere, hearing it from an average Joe was enjoyable too. What I didn't like is what was missing. I had hoped for a much more detailed "race report" for the races he participated in. after reading about his training and the lessons learned there, I wanted to cheer for this goofy, slightly underdog guy as he accomplished great things in his races. Alas, the races got such a short shrift that I wasn't able to.

So, a solid three starts because I did like it. It certainly stands head and shoulders above most self published works.

Fun and interesting book

This book was such an inspiration with getting back into the swing of things. It seems like so many running books are so serious--which is fine. But I really enjoyed the comedic approach in this book of what to do and not do! Hope to read another one of the author's books!!

Kind of uninteresting, though I can see how some would relate to it. I guess I just knew most of the things that were in the book already, though the actual race reports were interesting.
