This is a standalone installment in the Galactic Cage Fighters series that features fighters of different species who engage in a full contact fight that includes elements of boxing, wrestling, and martial arts.
I loved the overall premise and feel of this read. Having read the previous installment I knew each of the 'star' fighters would have their own story and was looking forward to enjoying a bit of high testosterone alpha alien fighters who get taken down by Earth women. I do think this series will appeal to male and female readers as the author does include scenes of the actual fights that include blood and gore. I enjoyed those parts myself as I'm a boxing/wrestling fan from way back.
There are issues with the body of this book that I wanted to describe as, while the story itself had multiple credibility and substance issues, I liked it. The best analogy I can come up with is that reading this installment/series is like enjoying a sweet indulgent snack, as compared to other series where each book is more of a meal. It's as if the author went with a 'best case' scenario whenever a crisis situation came to be instead of fleshing out the blindside/suspense side of things. I'm hesitant to explain further as it would be a sort of spoiler for those who do read it.
Getting into the adult content/erotica scenes. While the action was steamy and frequent enough to savor, I do feel the individual scenes themselves could have been penned with more descriptive and graphic details. I do like my smut to be featured with more importance when the MC romance is semi dependent on those same scenes to believe a relationship develops that quickly, that permanently.
Overall, a pleasurable sci fi erotic romance read that has an evolving series plot with each installment. I enjoyed the style of writing and way the MC were portrayed. But. I also enjoyed the secondary characters who I know will be featured in future installments especially Zara & Zen. :D
I think this would be a 3.5. It was good and I love the dynamic of the fighters and how they all have their own issues. *SPOILER* The only part I didn't like was that she had been kidnapped and they wouldn't let Talon try to find her until he went to therapy... TWO MONTHS LATER... She's still with the crazy man that kidnapped her and she still has not been found by the authorities of course by then he's through with therapy and they allow him to go and look for her and he finds her in no time. But other than that it was a good book I loved the first one more because it just seemed like it was kind of more explosive as far as the couple and storyline. Rage just seemed more relate-able because the couples had their issues and disagreements they didn't just jump into a relationship and then everything was wonderful and they loved each other 2 days after meeting... O.o
I loved Talon & Lindy's story! Talon, a cage fighter and strong alpha male who knows what he wants and thats Lindy. Lindy, whose admired Talon from a far comes face to face with him and the chemistry is overwhelming. They fall for each other and spend all their spare time together until Lindy goes missing and Talon's struggle without her. I really enjoyed reading about old and new characters and look forward to their books. There were parts that seemed a bit rushed but otherwise I really enjoyed it!
I don't care for backtracking the plot for stories, I find I don't have the patience for it. Also, couldn't they have at least had their lunch date together and really clicked mentally also before jumping in the sack?!? The last half of the story, that was more to do with future events, did get better... hence the 3 star rating... 2 Star beginning 3 star ending = 2.5 stars and I round up as I was taught:) Hope the next one is better again:/
This didn't really work for me as much as book 1. The head hopping was still quite confusing, and I didn't quite buy how Lindy was not raped by her Master after she was kidnapped by an alien who murdered and also kept female slaves. As much as I hate to say it, I think KDJ needed to be meaner to her characters to have a more believable story.
So glad to read Talon and Lindy's story. Talon was so HOT and the romance was even HOTTER. The only problem is the pesky kidnapper, oh and a crazy alien. Thankfully there is an undercover cop on the case and a little help from her friends. Well worth reading.
One of the very best love stories I have read. I read the first book and it took a little to get into the book but I'm glad I stuck with it. Ms. Jones's cage fighters are seriously sexy and romantic. I'm totally hooked!
I really loved it, loved the entire series couldn't put the books down until I was finished with them, now I am waiting for the fourth book to come out and rereading the three that are already out
Fab story. Great insight into Talon and Lindy's story. Both such strong characters and their relationship was hot and sweet. Looking forward to Taurus' book.
