I really adore brain candy books and Stormy Glenn definitely writes some of the most fun ones. Because of that I was excited to read this first book in her new Wolf Haven series. I mean, let's face it, where else can you read a story about a human guy who discovers he's pregnant - oh wait, first, the fact that he had all of the symptoms and actually took a pregnancy test - finds out wolf shifters are real and doesn't seem to really bat an eye? No hysterics. Concerns and worries, yes. Freaking the hell out, no. So the incredible, the improbable and sometimes the just plain goofy happens. I mean seriously sometimes you do and sometimes you don't need lube? Wow. That's what makes this brand of brain candy so much fun! Not to mention that I adore the completely ridiculous stories of men getting pregnant. Can't help it - they're funny!! It's the ultimate fantasy to have a man get morning sickness ;-)

Meet Matty and Rico. One weekend of blazing hot sex five weeks ago and Matty finds out he's pregnant, he's a human omega, werewolves are real, Rico is his mate and the Loup-Garou Senate wants to kill him for all of those reasons. So now they're on the run with friends and trying to stay alive while locating someplace safe to hide. What more could you ask for except fun, danger and adventure.

Great start to a new series, with some interesting twists on werewolf lore. Not only do we have omegas with special abilities, they can also be born in both human and wolf-shifter form, are always male, and - this one was a little more unusual - can get pregnant. Of course there are also the evil hunters, out to kill any gay werewolf they can find. As to why - that is one of the questions set up to be answered as the series develops, I am sure.

Matty is a normal human, or so he thinks, until he spends a weekend with his dream man and everything changes. Not that he notices immediately, but when he does, all hell breaks loose. He finds it very difficult to adapt, but I can't blame him for that. He does have a lot happening to him. Luckily, he is able to stand up for himself, despite the hormones playing havoc with his emotions.

Rico is a wolf-shifter on the run, because he is gay. The werewolf senate has declared gays and omegas to be outlaws, and hunters make sure none survive. Rico doesn't agree with the plan, and once he has accepted that he will be a father, he deals with the situation really well.

If you like stories about werewolves who are passionate and will defend their mates to the death, if you enjoy books containing male pregnancy, and if you're looking for a paranormal read with a twist, then you will probably like this book.

OMG, I always have a good laugh with books that introduce male pregnancy.
And the way it started? Impressionable Ms. Glenn. You were one of my first MM author and I continue to keep you up there on my list. Have read everything you dished out.
Thank you for this series. I love Omegas and most stories focus on their issues with alphas. I am glad that even though Rico has alpha tendencies, he didn't act on them. His mean focus, keep Matty safe.

HEAT RATING: 2 FLAMES
Starting a new series can be a worry for some authors, but I always find that it gives an author a chance to either expand on the type of books that they write or try something new. I have to say that Stormy Glenn did not disappoint. This first book in the Wolf Haven series tells the story of Matthew or Matty, a human omega and Rico, a shifter, both who have no idea what the other is.

It’s a fast pace book that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat through the ups and downs of these two characters getting their HEA. I loved that the book started out straight away on a positive note, although, you will have to read it to see what I mean. It showed the type of man that Matty was and how even though he can be a bit of a worry wart, he would do anything to protect those he loved.

The chemistry between these two is scorching, but because it's filled with loads of trust issues, they had a lot to deal with. Also, while the sex was hot, it was funny the way Rico kept having to help Matty deal with his issues. You almost had to feel sorry for Rico, because he didn't know whether he was coming or going at certain points in the book. In fact, Matty keeps Rico on his toes through a lot of the story, never letting him know what he was doing from one moment to the next.

At the end of the book, you could see how much love Rico had for Matty and how much of a big softy he was going to be now that they were together.

I would have given this five stars, but this first book in the series focuses on world and character building, so it just lost that slight edge. Having said that, because I enjoyed the start to this series so much, I immediately bought the second book to find out what happened to the two characters whose story started towards the end. All in all, it's a strong start to a new series, and I anxiously look forward to more from the Wolf Haven series.
4 twinkling stars!

**Grammar**

Matthew Jackson's life was always difficult, but now is becoming crazy. He is pretty sure is pregnant and he is a MAN.
He had a one-night stand with a man named Rico and was his first and only man, so he is pretty sure is that guy fault. When he finds Rico he is going to punch him and break his family jewels. But before that, he needs to be sure he is having a baby.

Matthew decides to go to a public clinic and there he meets a nurse, Ollie, that takes him to the doctor that will esaminate him. When the doctor sees the screen, he runs out of the door and calls another doctor. Matthew hears them talking and understands something is wrong. Those men want him and his baby. Matthew runs out of the clinic, out there he sees black SUV's and he understands that those men are there for him. He goes to his apartment and has only the time to grab a photo of him and his parents and some money, before he needs to run again. He is walking near the street, but wherever he goes it seems the black SUV's arrive before him. He is out of ideas, almost sure he will get taken, when with Ollie's help, that followed him, he is able to escape.

Matthew asks him, why he is helping a man he doesnt know, and Ollie tells him, that he is doing it bcs they are both Omegas, and they need to help each other. Ollie knows that Matthew is pregnant and he asks him who is the father of the baby,bcs maybe he will be able to find him. Matthew tells him that is a man named Rico, with whom he passed a week-end and that left him alone without explanations. Ollie is shocked, he knows Rico. The man is on the list of the most wanted from the Senate of the Loup-Garou, that kills all the men that have relationships with other men.

Thanks to Ollie's friend they are able to meet with Rico and his friends,Graham and Flaco. When finally Matty meets Rico again, he punches the man and then leaves the bar.LOL, actually i loved Matty, he is strong,smart,stubborn and funny.Let's not forget he is also ormonal, so Rico sometimes calls him psycho human XD.
Rico is jealous, possessive, cares a lot about his mate,and cant ever win against Matty. He didnt want to leave Matty afer their first time together, but he had too, to protect him.
Their bickering was funny and i loved to read about them, one of the best time was when Rico is shocked by the fact he is becoming a father and cant belive it, bcs he never thought a man could get pregnant.

{"What is that?"}
{"You know what this is."}
{"No, I don't."}
{"Ollie?"}
{"Don't look at me, man"...."I didn't sleep with him."}
{"Matty?"....."Are you sick?"}
{"No, I'm pregnant."}
--------------------------------------
{"You are not blaming this on me"--Rico waved his hand at Matty's stomach---"whatever this is."}
{"Oh my god, I can't belive I'm going to ask this."..."Are you actually going to get me knocked up and then deny that you're the father?"}
{"Men don't get pregnant!"}
{"Whatever."}

I laughed so much here, they were ridiculous, 2 idiots and i loved them.

We find out that Rico is the son of the oldest senator of the Loup-Garou and Ollie is the son of another senator. Rico's father wants him dead, bcs he is gay. There are a lot of things that the Loup-Garou doesnt say to his ppl, and one of them is the fact that Omegas, men and/or wolves, can become pregnant and have also powers. The law of the wolves tells to kill all the Omegas when their omega status is discovered, bcs they lie and are a risk for the community, but they never explained the reason.

In the end also if Matty and Rico argue and there is a lot of bickering, the 2 idiots are in love and soon fall in bed again.

The sex scenes were hot, and the book also if short was really fun and interesting.

After they mate again, this time knowing that they are actually doing it, Rico explains to Matty why he left him. He says that he was going to buy them breakfast when he met one of his pack members and then going back to him wasnt an option anymore. He then decided to run to his friends Flaco and Graham and ask them for help. They decided to go with him and since then the 3 of them are on the run.

{R:...."I've known I was gay for years. I hid that part of myself for the longest time, dating girls and never giving in to my desire for men."......"And then i walked into a bar and met the sexiest human alive."}
------------------
{"You're going to be so much trouble".}
{Matty just grinned."If you're lucky."}

Wherever they go the Black SUV's seems always to find them. They are driving to their next location, when Rico's phone rings. Is Owen, Graham's little brother and one of the men that usually helps them, giving them money. Owen also sends to them other ppl who need help and are escaping and he was the guy Ollie called when he was trying to find Rico.

Talking with their code, they are able to set a place to meet. They dont expect to see Owen arriving at the bar with another man, Griffin.

Graham understands that Owen was in danger and had to leave the pack. Rico doesnt know why but he doesnt like Griffin. They are still talking when Matty tells them they need to leave. It seems that one of the omega's power Matty is developping is being able to feel incoming danger.

Hours later they arrive to a new location and there Griffin shows his true colors.He is one of the hunters, sent by the Senate.
He tries to kill Matty, and only stops when he sees Ollie and understands the other man is also an omega and his mate. He didnt know that omegas could get pregnant and he didnt know that Matty was pregnant(at start at least).

Griffin decides to help them.

{"I'd be very interested to know why you shot your fellow hunters."}
{"The situation changed, and I was required to adapt."}
{"Changed how?"}
{"I found my mate."}
{Rico growled."Matty is-"}
{"Not my mate." Griffin finished for him. Matty's jaw dropped when Griffin pointed at Ollie. "He is."}

Griffin seems interesting, he is also strange and sometimes seems almost a robot XDDD but i bet he and Ollie will be awesome together.
Ollie doesnt want Griffin to be his mate, bcs the man hunted omegas and now he wants to stop doing that, bcs he found out that an omega is his mate.Ollie is angry, but at the same time he is already starting to care about that strange man.

{Ollie growled and edged back when Griffin stepped closer. Griffin rolled his eyes.}

Griffin tells them that they may have some devices in their bodies,like he had, and these are reporting their location to the Senate. They'll scann their bodies to disable them, and after that the hunters will not be able to find them as soon as they used to.
Griffin then tells them he may have a land,bought under false name and 100km far from any city and there they can stay till the baby is born and be safe.

Soon after we pass to the birthing scene and we see how Rico is a mess. He is actually suffering with each scream Matty is making and so Matty tries to not scream or make noises, but in the end the pain is just too much.

{"Rico"}
{"I'm here, baby. I'm here."}
{"Need to push."}
{"Hold it for a moment, Matty."}

XDDDDDD was so funny.

The baby is born, but we dont know if is a boy or a girl and the best scene happens when Matty calls for Rico to see the baby and the man doesnt answer him.

{"Oh, Rico, look."......Matty frowned when Rico didn't say anything. The man had come to terms with the fact that he was going to be a father weeks ago. He was even more excited about the event than Matty was. So...Matty tilted his head to look back at Rico only to burst out laughing. "That, baby," ......."Is your big, bad wolf-shifter daddy. And just as soon as he regains consciouness, he'll be very excited to meet you."}

Loved it, a pity that is so short i wanted more and sure as hell i will read more books from this author.

I am always curious about a new take on a paranormal world and this one did interesting things with werewolves so I thought that I'd give it a try. I found the concept of Omega wolves being the real power instead of the alphas and male pregnancy a curiosity. I satisfied my curiosity, but in the mean time I found myself enjoying the simple plot- run from the big bad wolves who kill all Omegas and gay wolves- and the characters of this novella-length story.

Matty, the main character, was the angsty type during the story, but it was quite clear based on what was going down that he had reason to be. He goes from being a hardworking guy who can't catch a break in life that gets an incredible weekend with the guy of his dreams who disappears on him, to a guy discovering he's pregnant and now being chased by 'the men in black' only to find himself face to face again with that incredible guy who now acts like he can't stand the sight of him. Now to be fair, Rico isn't exactly the jerk he appeared to be and when the story switches to his perspective it becomes clear why he made the choices he did. There is a cover-up and secrecy within the wolf leadership and Rico is as much a dupe as Matty. So along with their friends, they are both on the run now with Rico quickly getting into the role of leader and protector as he adjusts to the fact that he now has a family on the run with him.

As I said, the unique worldbuilding caught my attention, but its not epic. The story is about people on the run, but its not deep or darkly foreboding. Once I caught on to the tone of this lighter piece and went with it, I enjoyed it. This was my first book by the author so I wasn't sure what to expect. I'll definitely be checking out some of her other stories when I'm in the mood for a switch in pace from my usual fare.

I recommend this story for those who enjoy light, but spice m/m paranormal romances.

Notes:

No man would take a pregnancy test before seeing his doctor.

Technicians never give any kind of diagnosis as they aren't officially trained to read the scans.

"Dark, viscous expression" was said twice. In trying to imagine a melty looking face.

Apparently they didn't use condoms so it's as much Matty's fault as Rico's. They were lucky they didn't exchange deadly diseases. (Lube either usually.)

Matty made him ?

A shot to the shoulder is still serious and really painful unlike the no big deal they make it.

For once when a guy says something dirty in the middle if a crisis his mate doesn't smirk and say something nasty back. Instead the mate is confused that his mate made him smile in such a dire situation.

Lots of danger and action and injury but no OMG he's gonna die moments with the MCs. Still, the world is different from the usual fare and Glenn is in her skilled writer persona so the book was very good. (I could almost swear that two different people write her books, one considerably more talented than the other.)

Very exciting first book for a new series! Readers, be warned that this is an mpreg book. Full of twists and possibilities for the next instalment, and also some of the things remain unresolved...Well, that's what the next book is for. Eagerly waiting for more! Loved this.

This book was too short and extremely undeveloped. Had to suspend belief that human Matty would go bareback when he hooked up with wolf shifter Rico at a bar.

I REALLY enjoyed this. The way it started out already had me on the edge of my seat. EEK!

Matty had a wonderful weekend with practically a stranger that he met in the bar. All he got was a first name, Rico. Little did he know Rico was going to unknowingly throw Matty into his world, which is extremely unsafe.

Why is it unsafe? Well, it's because the Senate has made an army of Sentries and they are bound by law to take out the trash, so to speak. Yeah, they have orders to kill gay people. Someone found out about Rico and now he's on the "most wanted" list. Now, Matty has a price over his head as well.

Matty just doesn't know why, but he gets help from a stranger and he takes him to Rico. Trust is a huge issue for them at first. But, who wouldn't be surprised and shocked to their core at what Matty is bringing to the table.

I would have liked to have seen more of the omega powers being used and actually have had Rico in his wolf form, but it was still good. This is a series, so hopefully we learn more.

I am hooked :) Now, onto Ollie's story.

1.5 stars - I've read many books by this author and have found them to be okay reads most of the time, nothing to be wowed over. Usually the stories make some kind of sense, but this book definitely doesn't. There are so many holes in the plot and unanswered questions. I found myself rolling my eyes while I was reading, and I skimmed through the sex scenes thinking the timing inappropriate due to the circumstances they were in. I mean, they're on the run for goodness sakes. One doesn't stop for some raunchy sex in the middle of running for safety. And I truly hate it when a book fast-forwards and abruptly stops to prep for book #2. Sigh...This one was definitely a dud for me.

The characters were great, but the plot was a big fail for me, even knowing Stormy Glenn's usual plot device and progression. We saw little to no explanation about ANYTHING, even the baby's gender. There was barely any 'wolves'. When I see mpreg in a story I expect to get a creative plot twist of some sort but we got zip explanation on how a man was carrying a baby, mostly since those weeks were skipped over with a few paragraphs, and the birth scene was a total cop out. Nothing was resolved, nothing was explained, no plans were made to resolve anything with the bad guys. This was part of a story, but not a full story by any stretch of the imagination. I shouldn't have to buy sequels to get a complete plot arc in a storyline. I was very disappointed.

This is the story of Matty and Rico. Rico is a wolf. Matty kinda-sorta had sex with him one night and ended up…in unforeseen circumstances. Now they’re on the run from the Loup-Garou, a band of shifters that have deemed being gay cause for death.

This is a great start to a new series. The shifters are different than the other things I’ve ready from Ms. Glenn, and if you like shifters as much as I do, you’re going to be in for a treat with these folks.

I will start out by saying I am an Mpreg fan. I read everything I can find that involves this and usually enjoy myself thoroughly. This story was no exception. I really can’t say that this was that much different than others I have read. I just know that I found the story fast moving and entertaining. I like that the main characters are on the run and never know what will happen. I also like that there is a main group of friends that help and travel with the main characters. I love that they have created their own small pack and defend each other. Very good start to a series.

The start of another great series, I do love a bit of M preg and this certainly had that. The only complaint I had was that if there is M preg in there I do want a few more details, instead of this part of the story line being brushed over. The ending came far to quickly with a quick epilogue and description of how the character went from being just pregnant to delivery. I do hope we get more m preg and development in future books of the series

This was enjoyable. The story had some holes in it I'm hoping will be filled by the next book.

The one thing that bothered me most was you didn't get to see how the MCs met and fell for each other. We see them come together about five weeks later. So I think the bond between characters was lacking.

Unexpectedly better quality than the usual Stormy Glenn fare (somewhere in the vicinity of Assassin's Prise series, and I quite liked that one). Even with all the tropes the story is not as formulaic as I feared it would be, and I really liked the characters. I have to ask though, what's with the confusing title?
