Georgia native Love N. Lee has had a passion for reading since she was in Pull Ups. It wasn't until she had to write a short story as a class assignment in elementary that she discovered that she liked to write and create her own stories. Love's parents and teachers took note of her talent, believing that one day she could become an author. Unfortunately, Love felt it would only remain a hobby since she thought it was too difficult to land a publishing deal. It would be nearly ten years before she picked up her pen again.
Love dropped out of college after having her son, and then relocated to Raleigh, North Carolina. While working at a call center, in-between calls and on her break, she would read urban fiction. Soon she began working on her own novel as her interest in writing returned. Thanks to a chance encounter, Love linked up with best-selling author Treasure E. Blue on a social networking site. He introduced her to other literary heavyweights that shared resources to help her perfect her craft and offered invaluable advice. After receiving encouragement and mentoring from Nakea Murray of The Literary Consultant Group and David Weaver of SBR Publications, she decided to bring her dreams to fruition.
Taking a leap of faith, Love quit her job and began writing full-time. Her novel 'Already Taken' hit virtual bookshelves in July and became an overnight bestseller. After much hard work, she is now the CEO and Founder of JME Publications, which specializes in romance books for the hood. Love currently lives in Georgia with her four-year-old son. Outside of writing, she enjoys reality TV, K-dramas, and traveling.
In the game of rap Amari (AK) King, Yamajesty Brown , and Blood are aspiring rappers making a name for themselves on the southern coast of Florida with their dope lyrics hoping one day to get signed to a major record label. Then we have the women Lavisha who has been holding Yamajesty down for eight years still waiting on her ring, Sonya who is madly in love with Ak but is very insecure with the relationship and Disney who is a aspiring singer with dreams of becoming famous. Will everyone get there wish?
I loved this story, this book kept my attention from the very first page, I found myself wanting more and more, the women were very real and the guys brought the Heat, I felt like I was reading Love & Hip Hop. I would recommend this book, you won't be disappointed I give this book 5 stars.
I absolutely loved this book and finished it within a few hours. There was non stop drama from the beginning to the end and I honestly didn't want to put the book down. The story flowed nicely and the scene descriptions sucked me in. Every single relationship in this book was crazy and some of the characters were even crazier. AK took my heart, I wanted to strangle the hell out of Yamajesty and Sonia had me feeling for her at times but she kept making the dumbest decisions due to her immaturity and insecurity. I felt like there was a new twist in every chapter and it kept me guessing what would happen next. I seriously cant wait for part 2 of "Rap Star Wifeys"
Rap star group 5519 is making major noise in Miami as being one of the hottest rap groups of today. The group consists of AK who is much like the group leader. He makes sure the guys are in order, focused and their to work. AK knows that being a rap star is not easy and staying on top is even harder but he knows with hard work and dedication him and his boys can remain on top. Yamajesty is the trouble maker of the group his work ethic is anything but an A+ but he loves the fame that comes with him being a 5519 boy. Blood is the final group me member who loves the groupies that come along with the fame and success. Behind each of these successful rap star is a woman holding them down. Sonya has been with AK for over three years and loves him dearly. Sonya has to learn to adjust to the fame that goes along with her man. AK stops a nothing to show his woman how much she means to him, but that does mean much to an insecure pregnant Sonya, who thinks her man is out there doing who knows what. When something major happens their relationship is threatened and that leaves Sonya wondering if their relationship can be mended or is AKs heart going to someone else? Sonya is determined to keep her man by any means necessary. Lavisha another Rap Star wifey has always just wanted to be loved and live the good life she felt she deserved. Is the good life all it's cracked up to be for Lavisha or does everything come with a price? For Lavisha it seems like dealing with Yamajesty and all the drama that seems to be following him has become worse along with his new addiction. With Lavisha realize her self worth or will she stick around for the perks of the good life?
The author did a really good job with this story. It was a very fast read. The characters in the book go through so much with each other and alone as we'll as with their significant other. Yamajesty is a piece if work there were so many times I just wanted to reach through the book and slap him. The things he did and said were just too much I'm not sure how Lavisha was able to stick around and deal with that. In the beginning I loved the relationship Sonya and AK appeared to have with each other. He was down for her, in love with her and willing to prove it to her anyway he could. You couldn't help but shake your head at Sonya because she had a great man and was just so insecure by her situation. If you are looking for a book filled with drama, love, betrayal a few shocks then this is the book to pick up. Can't wait for part 2.
Summer, Summer really author Love Lee (joking). Excellent read this book had me cursing out loud, feeling pity for some, want to kill others Lord only knows that I am already under the jail for this book. LOL Anyway let me begin with Yamajesty, ok not much to say besides he is dead in my book (make sure is is dead author Lee cause I am doing major damage to homeboy next time around). In the reverse you have a sincere and everything you looking for in a man Amari. Sonya may have messed that up though, it's only so much a man can take. On the other hand its only so much Lavisha will take. Then here comes Ms. Innocent or so she thinks miss prim and proper. Will she get the eye candy that she is after, huh...:-) Well summer will tell. Lets get this straight SUMMER 2013 right???LOL
Follow the lives of the upcoming rap group 5519. Every women want to be with them but their ladies say otherwise.
Sonya has the man the man every women dreams of.He is hard working faithful and most of all his heart but all that changes after Sonya let her insecurity take over.
Lavisha is your typical hood chick, holding her man down no matter what. When a secret has been told she finally reaches her breaking point.
Disney has dreams of becoming a singer and no one will stop her from reaching it. When her time has finally arrived she is not ready to deal with all that comes with it.
This book was great. It took right off grabbing your attention and holding on to it until the last page. I cant wait to read part two.
This was a good book,It had drama from the beginning to end.Sonya and Lavisha are Rap Star Wifey's who had to deal with the stress of having men in the local limelight,They do not handle it well and end up accepting and engaging in the craziest things, all in the name of love. This book had so many twist and turns,I didn't know what was gonna happen next. Then when you add in the other characters like Disney and Montell the drama compiles. Can't wait for part 2 of this book as well as Already Taken.I am certainly a fan of Love Lee's work.
Drama drama and more drama. Disney is an aspiring singer with dreams of making it big.
Lavisha wants the good life and has been with rapper Yamajesty Brown since they were teenagers.
Sonya has the perfect man but her insecurity threatens their relationship. After a tragedy, Sonya feels them growing further apart and suspects that another woman has stolen his heart.
All the characters have issues. The story line was good and kept my attention.
Good Read. But Yamaesty and Lavisha for Character names???? Author did a fabulous job with stories of each character. There were many twist and turns in the book that keep you interested. I am definitely waiting on part 2. HOWEVER, The female character names were really hard to continue to pronounce and continue to read throughout the store. I understand this book is of Urban Ethic Genre. But I think the author can not better with name choices to capture a wider audience.
i refused to do anything until i finished this book; from page one to the last page, i was hooked, the drama was enough but wasnt too much! Sonya officially LOST HER MIND! AK, Loved that man! Yamajesty; yeah not my favorite ; Lavisha, too naive; but all in all they definitely came together & created one helluva book ; i'm anxiously & impatiently waiting for season 2 ; y'all both killed it with this one!!
very good read that kept attention. I really enjoyed the different characters. I was only disappointed by the fact that there is sequel. It would have a made a really good stand alone
