Getting naked is like falling in love...

Compared with her best friend, Jen, Erica feels like a failure at love. Her ten year marriage ended in divorce when she found her husband fooling around with another man. Her dating life is stuck in neutral at best, and often reverse. And now she's discovered she becomes incredibly aroused and turned on when she is flashing parts of her body best left hidden behind closed doors.

Jen, however, has plans for Erica and wants to set her up with her husband's handsome and charming co-worker, Tyler. He's a great guy, even if he can't tolerate the fact she enjoys revealing her nether regions to random strangers in public places. But when Erica bumps into a mystery man at the cemetery, tall, dark and handsome with perfect dimples, she's faced with a difficult choice.

Why does Tyler feel so right and yet so wrong? And why is she so attracted to Michael, the handsome "Mr. Dimples" who reminds her so much of her perfect fantasy man, but who is clearly grieving over the loss of his own wife, who was his one true love? Can Michael ever be expected to love her for herself and not compare her to the former Mrs. Dimples?

Will she give up exhibitionism for the nice guy? Or trample down the path of erotic explorations with the mystery man who may not be able to overcome his love for his dearly departed wife?

VERY EROTIC

Erica is divorced, her marriage of ten years is over. Glad to be rid of her ex-husband, she's now free to live her life as she wants.
Her BF Jen wants to set her up on a blind date with a friend of her husband. After much persuading on Jen's part Erica agrees to meet Tyler.
In the meantime while visiting her fathers grave she meets tall dark and handsome Michael, or as Erica dubs him Mr. Dimples!
The date with Tyler goes quite well and they agree to see each other again. But Erica cannot get Mr. Dimples out of her mind. Fate keeps playing its hand and throwing Mr. Dimples and Erica in each others orbit.

But what neither man realises is that Erica has this need you might call it a kink. But she's likes to expose herself in public. What would Tyler or Mr. Dimples think about that, and will she have to give it up?

First read for me by this author. I like her writing style. Very descriptive and well paced. Erica has been damaged by her marriage to her loathe some ex-husband. She has a set idea in her mind of her Mr. Right, but is it Tyler or Michael.
This is a very erotic story, the scene in the shoe shop alone makes this worth reading IMO!

I'm rarely moved to write reviews these days, and, particularly not about erotica; but this book and this author have compelled me to do so after reading the author's blog and the other reviews.

I downloaded the Kindle version when it was offered as a freebie some months ago. What a fortunate find! I believe this is Virginia Flowers's first full length novel and what a wonderful effort it is.

First, I want to get the nasty business of the negative stuff over with. Two things jarred. The book ended way too quickly without dealing with ugly and sticky loose ends that I, as a reader, really wanted to see the main character resolve. The book suffered from a lack of editing--there was a lot of misspelling, wrong words, wrong verbs, and other grammatical errors. The author could have used some talented beta readers and someone with editorial skills to work these problems out before publishing the book.

And yet, I give it 4.5 stars. Here's why. Even with the quick ending, it left no doubt that the main character would deal with the ugly and sticky loose ends. The lack of editing did not keep this book from being freshly unique (at least for me), laugh-out-loud funny, or written with appealing, well-rounded characters; zany, crazy situations; a lot of imagination; and great use of language.

The book opens with the main character, Erica, having been single for a year. A year ago, she walked in on her husband with another man and her ten-year marriage collapsed. She hasn't dated but she's fantasized a lot in that time. She's raunchy and funny, smart and sassy. Her best friend has been trying to set her up with blind dates but Erica is more interested in spending her time at home with her fantasy life. One day, after an emotional visit to her father's grave, she collides with the physical embodiment of her fantasy, passes out on the ground completely on display, and has a dizzying moment of self-awareness. That self-awareness becomes a life-changing obsession. One hysterical situation after another follows.

Her best friend finally succeeds in setting Erica up with a blind date putting in play a choice that Erica will have to make between very different men. One of them disapproves of her exhibitionism; the other seems oblivious to it. One makes a soul connection; the other is out of touch with her. She has great conversations with one; the other is boring. One is unconventional; the other is utterly conventional. One is structured; one is not. Does one man have all the good qualities and the other have all the not so good stuff? Are the good and bad qualities split between the two? And which man possesses the one(s) that matter? I'm not saying. I will say that the heroine is unstructured, uninhibited, undisciplined, and unconventional while still being likable and making you want a best friend just like her.

I was on tenterhooks the entire book. The author doesn't play games with you about who the best man is. As the reader, you know, as soon as you meet each man. What the authors does, though, is keep you in suspense about the heroine for the entire book, while making you laugh, grind your teeth, and pick your jaw up off the floor. Although the heroine is smart and witty, she's a bit emotionally stunted and she makes choices that aren't in her best self-interests--like so many of us in real life do.

Showing Off is chock full of pathos, humor, and wildly crazy situations. The book is not for the faint of heart. It is erotica and shouldn't be read by anyone under the age of 18. If you can keep an open mind, you won't want to miss this delectable little book. If you're easily offended, then you should find some nice, safe, cheesy smut romances.

Ms. Flowers you have a winner on your hands. I, for one, absolutely loved it!

Showing off: Flowers shows us so much. And leaves us wanting even more.
Overall: ★★★★★

Another win in the I hit the review jackpot. Virginia Flowers lent me this naughty tale so that I could review it. I went into it a little reluctant. Voyeurism is not so much my thing, but god damn if she didn't convert me with Showing Off.

Originality: ★★★★★

I've not looking too much into the voyeurism aspect of erotica. So while I know that there is a lot out there, I don't know the specifics. But I will say this. To combine voyeurism, sex-positivism, grief and loss, and erotic romance takes a special skill. Flowers has it all. She is witty, sexy and down right naughty with this book. Making me thirst for more.

Character Development: ★★★★★
The idea of healing after a divorce or a loss is so real in this one, so poignant, that I could completely sympathize with the characters. I was totally routing for the characters throughout the book. I wanted to see what and how they were going to change over time. And I wasn't disappointed. Erica, well you could see her heal before your eyes. And the number of struggles here was enough to make it a solid five star review.

Appearance and Editing:★★★★★

Exceptional. Very impressed with the level of professionalism. The cover is sexy and straight to the point and the editing is flawless.

The Romance/The Sex: ★★★★★

Ahem. This is steamy on so many levels. Not just with the sex. The tension, erotic and romantic is out of the part on this one. I found myself rushing through because I wanted to know what happened next. I needed to know more about Michael. About Erica. Hell I even wanted to learn about Jen. This was hot. But it was also endearing. So much sex, but it is seamless and hot. I think it has just the right amount of romance to sex balance for a slightly steamy read on the train that has you feeling a little like you are Showing Off.
