Fantastic resource. I couldn't possibly read every page but constantly roamed discovering new artists and ways of working. Gigantic weighty and very beautiful tome.

Excellent book. I initially got it just to look at the photos of different studios but ended up reading every page. Common thread is the dedication and hours worked by each artist. Maybe that's how most of them seem to have several studios around the world.
(Thankfully artists don't have to wait till they're dead for a bit of recognition.) Could also be titled "Rich Artists & Their Studios". Well worth the read.

Britishness hunters, Artists and Patrons alike will drool over massive forest facing country studios. “The big book of Household name British Artists” is a collection of top tier artists sharing their pretty light views on work and occasionally politics. Inevitably because of the scale and caliber of the 120 artists, there are nuggets of insight within the texts but actually there is little conversation about their studios or working practices, just occasionally their working hours (all hours) and living circumstances (in the studio). The photography is nice in a country house living magazine kind of way. It’s the kind of book you’d expect to be sitting on the table in one of their country homes. Congrats to all the artists, who steadfastly refused to be pulled into a conversation of Art as a religion.

Everyone seems to share a respect for efforts required to get to a career position in being identified amongst other reknown British Artists, somehow characterised by a Bacon, Freud, greyness; low sky and low light. The YBAs are the shared hangover throughout this book with many sharing their mixed opinions; like recounting antics of a wild 90s party, which seems like it were just last night.
