I'm waffling between 3 and 3.5 stars. This was cute, but it was too short. I wanted more of it. I'm not a fan of the humans with insta-love thing, so I wanted more relationship development.
I've never read any of the other books in this series so I may try to go back and read them. I may feel differently after I do that.

Really enjoyed this, I thought it had a bit of everything. Michael is such a cutie, I could just hear his Irish accent. Want to go and read Harp and the Fiddle now!

Short romance with some ghosts mixed in. A castle in Ireland with a love story that dates years back. I wish the story was longer and more in depth.

Book Review- The Irish Lover by Lila Dubois
In this Glenncailty Castle short story, Mary Callahan grew up in Chicago with her grandparents. Her parents died in the violence in Belfast when she was two. Her grandparents moved with her to the United States.
Now Mary is back in Ireland to learn more about her parents and the land where she was born. She isn’t sure what to expect but not the open arms homecoming she gets. The people in the small town of Cailtytown remember her grandparents and her parents. They still claim her as their own.
Michael Baker is drawn to her immediately. He learns who she is first and introduces her to the people of Cailtytown and to Glenncailty Castle. He also wants to learn more about her and invites Mary to have tea with his mother.
Michael’s mother is happy to meet Mary. She knew Mary’s parents. She shares stories and pictures she has of them. She also shows a picture of Michael and Mary when they were children together, shocking them both. It is almost as if they were meant for each other.
As they get to know each other better the castle ghosts have other plans. Mary and Michael have a late night encounter that scares and troubles them. The hotel manager, Sorcha is worried that the ghosts are dangerous.
I like the idea of this story. Mary is coming home, basically, to the land her family is from. She has no emotional connection and doesn’t know how she will react to being there. In fact at first she doesn’t really feel connected at all just appreciates how beautiful Ireland is.
Once the townspeople learn who she is everything changes. The story takes on a warm continuation as Mary starts learning about her parents. I liked reading how accepting the people were and how they would share, happily, stories they had.
Michael and Mary’s relationship seems to blossom quickly. It almost feels too fast however to make it believable. Then the ghosts arrive in the story and I was confused. I wasn’t sure what was going on, plus it seemed separate from the rest of the story that was being told. It was all of a sudden thrown at you.
If the story was longer and more time was spent spinning the tale and preparing the reader, it may have made more sense. This is the first book I’ve read in the Glenncailty Caste series, so I have no background information. So my confusion was present as I finished the story. However it was a sweet beginning to a love story told in one of my favorite places. I give it a 3 out of 5.

I really enjoyed reading Irish Lover written by Lila Dubois which is a part of her Glenncailty Castle series. This was a sexy, contemporary romance story that could be read as a standalone since I have not had a chance to read any of the other books yet. Now that I have, I'm really looking forward to the other stories. I really liked the hero in this book, Michael Baker, especially his close relationship with his mom. It was so nice and heartwarming to see how much he loves his mom. Their scenes together were sweet and made me smile and chuckle. The heroine, Mary Callahan, had more of a tragic past with the loss of her parents when she was a baby and my heart ached for what she's lost. She's come back home to Ireland, her birthplace, to learn more about the parents she never knew and about herself. I enjoyed the spontaneous meeting between Michael and Mary and the instant connection they have. The author did a great job establishing the chemistry between these two characters and making it look natural. Readers will find out later on why that is and I liked that tidbit. Their sex scenes were sexy and hot and I couldn't get enough. It was nice to witness Mary's emotional and tearful journey as she heard stories about her parents from the folks who knew them. The tales were deeply touching and I found myself feeling what Mary was. You could sense that Mary was making peace with her past and her feelings about Ireland. Even though this was a short novella, it packed a huge punch. I'm so glad I got to read this book and now I want to learn more about the other characters that popped up from the other books. I cannot wait to read all the other stories in this series and learn more about "the castle" and Ireland.

This was short.
Extremely short.
Even shorter than my ereader lead me to believe since the last 10 pages were for an excerpt from the first book.
Even though it was short, it was enjoyable.
It did end more on a happily for now as opposed to ever after, I'm okay with that. But I would have actually liked to see more of their relationship starting. Her going to Dublin, him going to the US.
She didn't have a job, so honestly I don't see why she was hemming and hawing so much about the fact that she was leaving. She technically wouldn't have any immigration issues, so as long as she found a job in Ireland, she'd be good to go. Especially with how much 'Ireland was her home' that she kept 'feeling'. (But then I am a person who did move from the US to the UK for love. Had I had the open route she did, it wouldn't have taken me 4.5 years to move.)
But I digress...
I liked Michael.
I didn't hate Mary.
All in all... it was enjoyable. Just wish it had been longer.

Mary Callahan's her parents died at the Emerald Isle when she was two. she never wanted to to there. Here grandparents who raised her, wanted her to go. Since she had no job Mary went.
Michael Baker remembered the castle all boarded up, now it is a hotel.
Mary got up late the first night and thought she saw a figure and soft music. She went downstairs to the bar and met Michael.
This story tells of the attraction for each other in the haunted castle.
I loved this story, maybe because I like the idea of ghosts in the story. You won't be disappointed in reading this book, I love the connection of the two characters.

There is only one complaint that any reader could have with this title and that is that it is over far too soon. The story itself is delightful and told in such a believable way that the reader has to accept it as true and factual. The characters are solid and honest and the bits of truth about Ireland and the Irish folks only sweeten the reality of it. If you need a great getaway this afternoon, then look no further.

Mary Callahan has come back to Glenncailty Ireland to discover her roots. Mary never expected to truly feel at home here or so welcome either. She has Michael Baker to thank for all of it. As a romance this was an ok read but only ok. It didn't feel totally complete and there was insta-love, insta-love. The paranormal portion of the book felt out of place and choppy in a way that it felt like it was just put in to make this a paranormal romance.

3.5 stars This was more of a short novella than an actual book, but what there was of it was hot. This appears to be part of a series about an Irish castle turned hotel but I had no trouble following along - standalone story. Will seek out more by this author.

I liked this novella... I think I would have liked it even more if there had not been the introduction of ghost. Just not my thing. The insta-love is far fetched, but the story is what it is... fantasy.
