This review is from: Driving To You (Going the Distance Series Novella) (Kindle Edition)
A spoiled heroine with a controlling father, but don't worry, this heroine gets redeemed quickly. A hot hero with a secret that can destroy the relationship he cherishes...again, don't worry, they come together in a delightful way.
It felt like this was the last quarter of the book. You don't get to see their relationship develop and then the obstacles they faced were easily overcome. It just felt like most of the story was missing. Neither of them were very likable.
I'm super excited to present you one of my latest reads. Seriously, if you don't know by now my love for Marquita Valentine's writing, obviously you haven't been reading some of my reviews. Anyways, I actually got a chance to beta read Driving to You, which was awesome. However, I did re-read the story to see if what I felt as a beta reader still felt the same as a reviewer. Without anymore delays let's dive right into my thoughts, since this is a novella I'm not going to summarize.
Last time we saw April Billingsworth was in Drive Me Crazy. If you haven't read that story you might want to check it out to see what April was like. You don't have to, but it's a suggestion. Let me just say I wasn't an April fan. Come on I wanted to choke the girl. *Deep breath*
Anyways, Ms. Valentine was able to get me to like April and help me understand her character a lot more. The things she did in Drive Me Crazy became clear in Driving to You. Amazing what knowing the circumstances can do to your perspective. Plus, Finn Burke Kennedy is to die for. He is such a great hero and he's perfect for April.
In short, this story is still AWESOME! I still chuckle through the story and the moments that were eye bulging were still eye bulging. You know the story is awesome when a character you can't stand, becomes likable. Seriously, I would say grab Driving to You and anything else by Marquita Valentine, because they are totally worth the read.
***This is a novella! Approximately 16,000 words or about 70 pages.***

Going the Distance Series: Drive Me Crazy (Book ~ 1)
This novella reads more like a TV script/screenplay than it does a novel.
This is a short but totally delightful novella by Ms. Valentine. If you read Driving Me Crazy, we met Carter the hunky race car driver with a wonderful heart, but a serious case of "foot in mouth" disease. April, his ex-fiancé was the girl we loved to hate!
In this the next installment of the Going The Distance series, we actually find out the reason for April's irritating personality. Her controlling , obnoxious, self centered father. He would make anyone crazy. We come to understand April, and I actually learned to like her! April's redemption is helped by Finn Kennedy, the gorgeous Irishman with the sliver tongue. They started a whirlwind romance and she's falling in love, but wait ~sigh~ there is always a twist.
The characters are strong, the banter between Finn and April is very entertaining, and we meet some new characters to look for in later stories. I recommend this sweet story to everyone! It can be read as a stand alone, but makes a little more sense if you have read Driving Me Crazy.
As always, I am anxiously awaiting the next novel about the racing life in Charlotte, North Carolina.

I haven't read Driving me Crazy which is #1 in the Going the Distance series. Events suggest this novella should be 1.5 (not 0.5) or #2?
Anyway, had I read Driving Me Crazy I might have understood why reviewers hated April and how she ended up with Finn on the rebound, from Carter I suspect. It’s clear here that Finn doesn’t see himself as a rebounder and he’s not going to let bad girl April side swipe him out of her life but secrets have a way of coming out and Finn just might find himself a part of her past after all.
I liked it. I liked Finn's determination and I liked that April had her reasons for acting out the way she did, I also liked that she didn't forgive Finn in an instant, she made him work for it. My kinda gal.
April and Finn start off this story in the midst of their 4 month relationship. Finn has not let April in on the fact that he was hired by her father to keep tabs on her. April's father gets wind of their relationship and lets the cat out of the bag. Finn tries his best to get her to understand but April had news of her own that she decided to keep to herself for now. Finn knows that he needs to give her time. April struggles to follow her father's directions and sabotages his wishes which leaves her in a precarious position with a baby on the way. Finn finally has enough of waiting and finds the perfect excuse to speak to April. She admits that she is carrying his child and Finn begins the long process of winning back her trust and love. It was a short story and wrapped up very well. It was nice to see April and Finn find their way past all of the lies and secrets to get their HEA.
Driving to You is a novella from Marquita Valentine's Holland Springs Series. It can be read at any time after book 1. April Billingsworrh is trying her best to get over her ex-fiance Carter. Her interest in Finn started out as a distraction, but when she wasn't looking it turned into something more than she ever expected.
Finn Kennedy is a private investigator. He makes a point to never get involved with clients or their families on a personal level, bit foe some reason April has made that impossible to do. They have an amazing connection and chemistry. All is going well, until April finds out who he is really working for. Will they be able to get past his deception?
Marquita Valentine has written a fabulous ending for April. The Holland Springs series has many intricate connections and this story continues them. I can't wait for more amazing stories from this series.
Very cute short contemporary romance novella! I wasn't sure how the author was going to redeem the heroine, as she was really unlikeable in the last book of the series, but Ms. Valentine managed it! I enjoyed seeing the former Daddy's little rich girl find her way, and Finn was very sexy. There were a few small things that made me scratch my head, though. At one point she tells her father that she had the deed of her house placed in her name, yet later her father has her thrown out of the house. Yes, he's the governor, but if the house is in her name, I don't see how that's possible. Still, the story is lots of fun, and I loved Finn's character.
April, Carter's ex fiance, is looking for a rebound guy. Only Finn does not feel like a rebound and their relationship has developed into something more. Finn never meant to sleep with his client's daughter and he has fallen head over heals for her. April finds out who he really is before Finn has a chance to tell he himself and April runs from him. Finn cannot seem to get her out of his mind.
A quick read with April and Finn. It was nice to read more about April and that she was not such a horrible person as the previous book portrayed her. Read to find out if Finn can convince her to stay with him and stand against her domineering father.
Who would have thought I would like April? Couldn't be but it turns out she is redeemable! Finn is tasked with the job of keeping tabs on her and reporting back her father and you know that is just going to be explosive. Of course I'm not going to tell you what happens but I will tell you that you HAVE to read this book!
I really didn't think it was possible, but I like April now. I absolutely hated her in the first book, but she certainly redeemed herself here! Of course, sexy Finn helped make me like her a bit more too. He was so sweet with her and brought out her true character. This short read was fun and sexy! Definitely read it if you have started this series!
After April discovers Finn's lie, she wants nothing to do with him. Finn must work to regain her trust. April must figure out how to survive her father's anger. Finn and April attempt to rebuild their relationship.
A really quick, sexy read that can be completed in one sitting.
I really have enjoyed both books by Marquita. I loved how April held her ground with her father even though he took everything from her and learned to stand up for herself. Finn is every woman's dream...Irish and HOT! He works hard to break down April's walls and succeeds quite well! Love the book!
A great read, where readers get to know bad girl April. It's not often the bad girl gets her own book and rarer for the reader end up feeling so conflicted, because her plans involving characters from books we've already read didn't work! A must read
When I first read about April in Drive You Crazy, I know she has a painful past and hoping she will find some happiness , I am so glad that she did find happiness and love finally with Finn Kennedy
4.5 Stars, will have review up soon. Another great read from my new favorite contemporary author! :) I highly suggest picking up her books, all of them. You will not regret it!
Another awesome book by Marquita Valentine. I loved the characters and the laugh out loud humor. I really liked Finn but then who doesn't like a sexy Irishman.yum
Good story, easy read-just one of those relaxing books to wind down to after a hectic day.Should read her other book Twice Tempted, sounds like a good way to utilize time.
I liked April better in this book. She was not the B...ch from the previous one. Guess it`s a good thing love can change a person for the better. Loved Finn for standing up to her father.
