Our male lead character is Zeke Brawer, 42, a seasoned detective, living outside of Trinity Falls. He is a father of three and married for twenty years to his lifetime love, Ginny, who is 38 years old. After the Porter shooting Zeke is on paid administrative leave until Internal Affairs is finished investigating the fatal ‘incident’ (you might want to check out the warning at the end of my review). The lead investigator is Kramer and this conniving man seems to be a bad omen. Since Zeke and Kramer went through police academy, Kramer held a constant yet unreasonable grudge against Zeke. Kramer tries anything and everything to dig up dirt, because he is hell-bent to remove Zeke’s badge once and for all. Let the harassment begin…

I’ve read and enjoyed a couple of good biker stories. Club Justice is no exception. It is, however, a bit different from other biker stories I have devoured, because the so-called badass level was not overly high if I may say so. Don’t get me wrong. There are violent scenes (two in particular that stuck with me) and of course we have the expected retribution à la Lords of Mayhem Motorcycle Club. But. I have to admit that I was slightly surprised by the rather light fare the author dished up. There was no OTT badass speech, no degradation of women, no uber steamy and dirty sex whatsoever and the author kept the swearing and violence within reasonable limits. Maybe it’s just me and you will feel differently regarding this aspect of Club Justice. I think, however, it might be related to the fact that Zeke was a detective by day and the president of Lords of Mayhem Motorcycle Club during leisure time. This being said, I felt that the club life fell a little flat for me. Besides, I believe that Zeke and Ginny’s relationship as well as their boys were clearly the priority of Club Justice and that was completely fine by me. Even so, I really enjoyed the story nonetheless and it is definitely worth a shot. As it is, I’m ready to jump right onto the next book in this series.

"(…)The love of a good woman is one thing, but the love and loyalty of a great woman is a great thing. Any man can find a bitch to walk behind him, it takes a special one to be worthy of walking beside him," Zeke said with a knowing arch of his silvered brows and a puff on his cigar.
(…)
"Just speaking from the heart, brother. There aren't many topics I'm passionate about, but my queen is one of them. Just don't tell her that. The woman is insufferable enough," Zeke said with a chuckle.
"I pray I am lucky enough to find one like her."
"She's a treasure and a curse, but one I would die to keep. Good luck, brother."

"You still got it, baby," she murmured with a wink.
Zeke accepted both kiss and Budweiser with equal appreciation.
"The power's still there, but the speed is shot."
"Slow and hard works for me."
"Hussy," he mumbled against her lips.

"You're such a baby," he mumbled.
"They're poisonous."
"They're venomous," he corrected. "A tarantula's bite doesn't hurt any worse than a bee sting, and I don't see you getting all in a sissy girl panic every time you see a bee or wasp."
"I can't help it! I can't stand the thought of the huge, hairy, ugly things touching me."
"You let dad touch you," Rhys quipped, actually drawing a smile from his mother.
"Your father isn't ugly."
"Note she didn't deny the huge," Zeke said with a lecherous grin.
"Or the hairy," Garrett piped in.
"Hey now, your father's hair is in all the right places, not like that ape Ramirez."

What will always stick with me are Zeke and Ginny. And I mean Zeke and Ginny as a couple and especially Ginny as an individual. Besides, in many ways these two were equals. Ginny was a wonderful and feisty heroine who almost overshadowed Zeke. In fact, she was so special that she shone throughout the whole book like sunbeams, and she made me smile from ear to ear all the time. Whew, she kicked some serious ass. All I can say is “Lady, you are the shit!” I loved the normalcy of their relationship. And wonders never cease because they were actually talking like normal people. Normal and very loving people who were still madly in love after twenty years of marriage. Despite the revelation of a few ‘secrets’ that put a strain on Zeke and Ginny’s relationship, they never failed to prove that they were able to dodge any obstacles that others put in their way. After all, their love was strong, deep, and unconditional.

“I’m not fucking with you, Flo. You better kick that peroxide saturated brain into gear and wise up. Do we have an understanding?” --Ginny

Even though it’s a man’s world and Zeke was completely and utterly convinced that his job was to protect his family, it was obvious that Ginny needed to do the same. Although two of her sons were grown-ups, they will always be her babies and her need to care and protect did not decrease only because the boys were adults by now. Ginny loved Zeke with all her heart but she was also one seriously ferocious mother! Boy, I wouldn’t want to get in her way. Club Justice is a fine example that love, family values, loyalty, and care are the foundation of a healthy and loving relationship that can weather any storm.

"You can seat me, Mrs. Brawer, or I can sue you for discrimination."
"If you were black, crippled, or gay I would be concerned. Being a spineless rat bastard doesn't qualify you as a minority or disabled. It's just a fact."

 photo Bildschirmfoto2013-03-14um230530_zpsddb0c293.png

"You look smoking tonight, Mrs. Brawer. Those boots make me horny."
(…)
"The chances of you making it back to the bedroom in that outfit are slim and none. If I were you, I would count my blessings if we make it inside the front door."
"Twenty years, four pregnancies, stretch marks, gravity, and you still want this?"
"Baby, you ain't never been more beautiful," Zeke rumbled.

This is for you, Ginny. You rock!

 photo Bildschirmfoto2013-03-14um231345_zpsfe20ae05.png

And last but not least I especially appreciated the fact that Zeke was not some sort of OTT-super-uber-alpha-badass biker dude who was sporting asshole-ish tendencies all the time. Granted, he is an alpha male who wanted and needed to provide for his family, and he was determined to protect his loved ones. On the other hand, however, he was also someone I really could connect with, someone very likable, gentle even and if need be he could bare his teeth without missing a beat. It goes without saying that I would love to be his old lady.

“You are too damn stubborn for your own good. I’m your man. You bring your problems and fears to me, and I take care of them. That is what a man does,” he said, then pushed her back to look down at her.

“You better have picked some up for your cohorts then or you’ll have a mutiny on your hands when we get back.”
“Never fear. I have my girls covered,” she said, patting her jacket pockets.
“I’ll keep the girls covered. You worry about your friends,” Zeke murmured, covering her chest with his hands.
“It’s all you ever think of. Why does it still surprise me?”
“You wouldn’t want me any other way.”
“Touché.”

All things considered, Club Justice is not a perfect read. I know that a few readers had issues with the different POVs—which was not a problem for me at all—and I can see that better editing would be desirable as well. Still, it’s an all around entertaining story that features interesting main and secondary characters and a tiny dose of action and suspense. The story is tragic in a few places and funny in others. In any event, I’m sure that Zeke and Ginny will earn a place in many a reader’s heart through plenty of loving banter and dialogue.

❤♡❤20 Years in Happy Biker Land❤♡❤

I absolutely loved this crazy right. It is a different kind of romance and biker book that I have previously read for sure.

This story is not about a budding romance but life of a President of a MC for 20 years and 20 years into a marriage with kids. Zeke is a cop in a big city that he commutes from his quite hometown where he is a president of a motorcycle club that he started with his buddies when he came back when he was doing with Marine life. His wife and mother of his children is a tough old lady, but also sexy as hell and loved by all... MC brothers, town people and their "adopted" son Mox. She is seen as a Queen and treated as thus. She is also a fierce lioness who protects her cubs (her 3 sons... even if she did not give birth to one of them) and her husband's club members and their future and current old ladies. However, things were not always like that... Zeke rescued beat up and broken Ginny from her abusive father and never let her go.

“You are too damn stubborn for your own good. I’m your man. You bring your problems and fears to me, and I take care of them. That is what a man does,” he said, then pushed her back to look down at her. His fingers closed around her chin and forced her to look at him. “You promised to trust me that night you showed up behind The Lantern. Has that changed?”

However this story is dark and at some points very cringe worthy. At one point it is U-G-L-Y. A true nemesis of her husband who has a real hard on to bringing him down with crazy passion doesn't stop at anything to bring hurt into his life and throwing hurdles and creating cracks in his marriage.

But Zeke is an even more fiercer papa bear who will protect his family and his club with a motto of Protect, provide, and procreate.

Absolutely fabulous read... pour some tequila... strap on some leather and enjoy meeting these complex and fun characters that belong to Trinity Falls motorcycle club.

Hands up all you biker worshipping, alpha man loving bitches in the room! Yeah, me too!

I’m the first one to admit that I STILL love this shit.

I can just gobble up all the muscle and mayhem this type of book offers up, and Club Justice comes complete with a whole cast of leather clad hulking pissed off men that ooze danger and sex.

 photo 867b5909-a75d-482c-b5e0-6c62844e466e_zpsa9e077e5.jpg

Each of them towing their very own trunk full of skeletons, leaves these guys scarred, hard and not without the symbolic danger-do-not-cross-or-defy-me-cos-I’ll-rip -off-ya-head-and-piss-down-ya-neck-hole tattooed across their massive pecs.

They live by their own code and I just lap up that eye for an eye mentality every damn time. I’m such a sucker for biker style vengeance. Yes I admit to moments of fist pumping and shouting out ‘Hell yeah’ in the face of retribution. Biker dudes are just so darn cool...

gif->

Not even the well-worn biker dialog doesn’t quite dampen the thrill of escaping to a world I will never know. Admittedly the mega protective all primal, primitive posturing and growling is a just a little bit trying with these biker alpha types, but what you going to do when that’s just how they roll.

So does this book have all of the above?

Gif ->

************************************************** aaand...what’s so special about this one in particular?

1) Well, for a start the MC’s Ginny and Zeke are older (not too old), wiser and not full of shit. They actually communicate and for once I am not questioning whether or not I believe in this relationship, these two are solid in the face of adversity.

2) Zeke: president of his motor cycle club and a detective too. There’s double hotness points awarded right there…right?
Zeke is the biker’s version of Superman and Ginny is Zeke’s kryptonite.

3) Ginny!
She is Zeke’s feisty kick arse wife and the shining star of this book. They have been married for twenty years and have three boys or one boy and two man-boys together. Ginny is awesome. She is queen of the biker chicks and a fierce protector of everything she sees as hers: her man, her children, her friends and whatever’s theirs. This woman is fair, loving, hilarious, generous and totally fierce when crossed. You do not cross this woman…EVER!

I want her as my best mate, no scrap that, I actually want to be her and then I get to have Zeke in my bed too – YUM!

4)Ginny’s intense relationship with her husband: forged over years of ups and downs is a thing of beauty, full of love, shared strength and total devotion -something we all strive and struggle for. The irrevocable love and protection in this relationship is just lovely. They are perfect soul mates and god help all the crazy jealous psycho's who stand in their way.

So what’s wrong with it then?

1) The writing, structure and formatting needs some serious attention. I shake my head at the fact that these author’s do not get their work properly edited. Not impressed.

2)Gah…the dreaded present tense points of view! It’s not just the MC’s POV. It feels like a hundred different points of view. EVERYBODY gets a point of view here and it is all over the place from one paragraph to the next, and you haven’t a clue whose head you’re supposed to be in. At 70% new characters are introduced and we get their POV too. I’m surprised we didn’t get Gunny’s, and he’s the dog.

3)Plot holes that seem to be left for way too long before being explained either after the fact or where it is no longer relevant, or more to the point- I just didn’t care anymore.

4)

5)Having to dodge the bait hooks scattered in almost every chapter is just so damn irritating and exhausting. Yes! I know that this is going to be a series and yet the author is laying bait with sharpened hooks within every worthless point of view. I hate that!

6)The biker style retribution I crave fell a little short for my sadistic appetite and I was left a tad unsatisfied with the outcome at the end.

***************************************************

Now you can ignore my negatives if you want to and go back and read the good stuff again, because I think this book is worthy of your time if you like this kind of thing of course. It’s entertaining, sexy, funny, and slightly addictive. Probably a step up from some of the other biker books out there.

At times it reads like a 2 star - meh book. Then picks up to an almost 4 star - I really like this warts and all, but there is no forgiving the issues I have with it.

Rounding up it’s a very solid 3 Star – I liked it and am leaning toward the 3.5 range.

Warning for sensitive readers : This contains graphic scenes of under-aged rape

Wow. I think I'm speechless.

I didn’t know what to expect out of this book but what I got was completely unexpected. I loved this book. Every page of it. Once in a while, you find a book that just consumes you. For me, this was one of those books. I knew I wouldn’t be able to sleep until I had finished it. I stayed up all night reading. However, I didn’t anticipate that it would haunt me even after I was finished. After I went to bed, I kept waking up because I was dreaming about the book and wanted to go back to it. I obviously wasn’t ready for the book to end. Thank goodness there's a second book!

Honestly…I’m not sure I wanted to read this book. At least, not when I actually read it. A few weeks ago (right after reading Reaper's Property) I started looking for other books that were biker romance. I came across this one. But I was hesitant to buy it because I wasn’t 100% sold on it based on the description. So, I looked at the borrowing sites to see if I could borrow it. Low and behold, I was able to…and I got a copy soon after that. Now, fast forward almost 2 weeks and I get an email that my loan is about to expire. So, I decided to bite the bullet and read this book. I wasn’t looking forward to it and I wasn’t in the mood for it…or so I thought. Once I actually sat down with it, I was hooked. I couldn’t put it down. Lol, I actually started this with a friend. We did a decent job at staying around the same % mark of the book until she had some things to do. I kept reading. And before I knew it, I was 50% into the book. At that point, I offered to stop and wait for her to catch up but thankfully, she gave permission for me to keep going. And I thank god for that because putting down this book would just about have killed me! I had to know what was going to happen!

I loved Ginny. She didn’t always see herself as strong, but I thought she was. She said that she was only able to be strong because Zeke was strong and he had her back, but I think she was the one holding everyone together. She would do anything for her family…her whole family, not just her biological family. She is probably one of my favorite main characters of all time. She was such a momma bear when it came to her kids. She would do anything for them. When she was with her friends and family, you could tell that she loved them.

Zeke. What can I say about Zeke? I was extremely surprised by him. First off…he was a police detective. Initially, I found that to be incredibly bizarre. I couldn’t figure out how the life of a police detective and the president of a MC would mesh. There were definitely some moments when the two lives clashed but I was impressed with Zeke’s Lords…they were mostly aboveboard. Another thing I loved about Zeke is he was straight forward about who he was. He wasn’t a bad guy and he wasn’t a jerk masquerading as a good guy. He was a guy that loved his family and his MC. He was tough and didn’t express his emotions…ever. But he showed he cared in other ways. And the one time he really broke down and expressed his emotions to Ginny…verbally…you were left with no doubt that he meant every word he said.

As a couple…Ginny and Zeke were perfect. Even though Zeke wasn’t extremely vocal about his feelings, you could feel how much they love each other. Even though the book had little flashbacks and the history of the couple, I would love to see exactly how they got together. The same goes for other couples in the book.

I wouldn’t call this a traditional romance by any means. The main couple was already together. They had been married for 20 years. But there were definitely romantic moments and I love the relationship between Ginny and Zeke. Plus, there were just enough flashbacks to satisfy me. This book was full of secrets! That was probably the biggest reason I couldn’t put it down (aside from Ginny & Zeke). I just had to know who was behind everything and the truth to all the secrets! It was driving me crazy!

If you loved (or liked…or even enjoyed) Undeniable, then you need to read this book. It is just as addictive. In some ways it’s better (and that’s saying something since I loved Undeniable and gave it 5 starts). It’s just as intense but it’s not as…”gritty”.

3.5 stars

4 stars for basic plot
This biker drama pits you right into marriage of Zeke and Ginny Brawer. The plot surrounds two types of conflicts: Zeke facing an enemy and other potential threats; Zeke and Ginny surviving deep issues that threaten to weaken their love and family.

Off the bat, the reader is introduced to Zeke's personal enemy, an Internal Affairs officer named Kramer, who has a jealous "hard on" for Zeke. Zeke is a cop by day and a biker by nature. He is set up to be excellent at being both. He's a decorated vet and a strong detective who gets his man by almost any means necessary; plus, he is the president of the biker club that he helped found. Zeke is larger than life, so Kramer is just chomping at the bit to knock him down a peg.

McBain does a good job putting the reader in Kramer's head and escalating his menace from that of cool calculation to desperate and maniacal obsession. However, this focus on the antagonist takes away from Zeke's badass image and obscures what the author's purpose is thematically. So, questions are left. Does one ever truly chase away his or her demons? Is revenge ever enough? Can love overcome anything?

So, back to the core of the book: Zeke and Ginny's love, their marriage. Not only does Zeke's personal enemy endanger his friends and loved ones, but skeletons come out of the closet, and this is a closet that wasn't locked tight to begin with, but revelations abound anyway. Here, the reader is given the measurement of Ginny's love for Zeke as the author focuses more on just how much a woman can take. Ginny seems to be affected much more than Zeke, and this again detracts from Zeke's character. The reader never really gets how Zeke is coping. I mean, the guy is being hit at both ends, for goodness sake! This fiddles with the author's purpose in character. Is Zeke the hero or not? Is he important or not? Why am I, the reader, not "feeling" Zeke?

Speaking of heroes, Ginny and her adopted son-of-sorts, Mox, manage to steal the show. Their characters shine through this intermingled plot in bold relief. Due to attention paid to their point of views, the reader is taken through many heartfelt emotions of the love, strife and past experiences that mold them. They manage, and surprisingly, along with Kramer, to grab attention in a way that Zeke never does (in my opinion). Ironically, this doesn't stop you from loving Zeke through their eyes.

2 stars for transition in PoV, editing and written format
And now to the reason why I cannot give this story 4 stars. I started a new bookshelf called 1-800-call-editor because of this book and others that I've recently read that are typo-ridden and point-of-view disasters--point of view shifts that happen at will, between paragraphs. Also, background is given in a roundabout way depending on these multiple PoVs; therefore, it is not fully satisfying.

In addition to needing an editor, a revision could improve the layout of the suspense. It was almost too predictable, and supposedly logical badass characters shouldn't have been so clueless. The sense that this is a biker club was forgotten, at times, and the fact that Zeke is a freakin' detective who should have been good at detecting was a thought that kept running through my head! Just sayin'.

So with all that said, I'll just end with that fact that I still really liked to premise of the book. I really loved the characters. Also, after having read the next in the series, Club Ties, [though I still feel the same about the writing format and the need of an editor]I much appreciated the author's push on the themes of family and unconditional love.

3.75 stars for somewhat steamy scenes...
3 stars for steam(that's for you, B.!)

Review to come...

Update:

Ok, I had planned on writing the best review I could for this book, but I got sidetracked by its companion. Now all I'm left with is a jumble of words and phrases in my head that aren't getting coherent for me! :) Long story short, THIS BOOK IS AWESOME! It's been quite a while since I've read anything that had me or or even as many times as I did in these two books! Go. Read. Them. NOW! :D:D:D

First let me start by saying the two reasons I gave this 4 stars instead of 5... Reason one is because the POV it's written in is all over the place. One minute it's from Ginny, the next it's Mox, the next it's Zeke, the next it's Kramer etc... Reason 2 is the fact that it took me a little while to get into it and I think that may have been because the main relationship is already established... like been married for 20 years established. So the part in a story (that i always adore) when two people meet and fall in love and you get lost in their emotion was not there. That all being said, let me tell you why I ended up loving this book! Once you got into the characters of this MC, you like them, you love them and want to know more about them. They are all clearly alpha males with (I hope) much more to come. Zeke and Ginny have a long history, a strong bond and a solid family in blood and in friends. So when Zeke takes out a serial rapist events unfold and in the process Zeke, his queen and his brothers lives become chaos. There are so many scummy characters that I wanted to b!tch slap, I didn't know who to point a finger at first! Zeke was a marine, is a cop and is the founder of the Lords of Mayhem MC. He's surrounded by fellow marines, trusted friends and family who are all deliciously and frighteningly scarred, tattooed, muscled, fearless, protective and menacing. I hope this series has a lot more books in its future!

"Any man can find a bitch to walk behind him, it takes a special one to be worthy of walking beside him."

"She's a treasure and a curse, but one I would die to keep."

Okay, I'm officially hooked on the Lords of Mayhem! Definitely more plot driven than romance driven but I was consumed with the story and the characters. The Lords of Mayhem have a definite Sons of Anarchy vibe, but not in a copycat way. They are very loyal, protective and consider each member family. This definitely has a gritter, darker feel and there are some difficult scenes but the author did a great job of establishing a solid plot of revenge/obsession as well as strong, memorable characters and a view of the trials and consequences in living the club life. I can't wait to read more of the Lords of Mayhem. This is a total motorcycle club-crack win!

"You still got it, baby," she murmured with a wink."

Zeke accepted both kiss and Budweiser with equal appreciation.

"The power's still there, but the speed is shot."

"Slow and hard work for me."

"Hussy," he mumbled against her lips.

Jenny: It’s difficult to know what to put this one under because it pretty much had it all didn’t Gitte? Crime, suspense, drama, romance all rolled into a bikie book about Zeke, Ginny and the Lords of Mayhem Motorcycle Club.

The story centres on Zeke and Ginny and their family…their blood family and the family within the MC. Zeke and Ginny was such a fabulous, kick ass couple. I loved them. They’ve been married 20 years and have gone through crap, survived and come through it as a very tight unit. Theirs is a happy marriage built on respect, love and passion for one another of which produced two sons, Rhys, Garrett and Mox, Rhys’ friend who they treat as one of their own.

Zeke is caught up in an Internal Affairs investigation over the murder of a child rapist. Internal Affairs are hell bent on bringing Zeke down and will employ every rotten trick in the book to see that happen, including raking up secrets from Zeke and Ginny’s past.

Gitte: Yeah, I picked this one up having no clue what to expect. I was immediately hooked and loved the writing style. It definitely had everything you’d want though dare I say it..*cough* I wish the physical romance had been turned up a notch or two (*runs to hide*).

You are spot on Jenny, the dynamics in this story were fab and I liked our main couple Zeke and Ginny. I actually think Ginny stole the scenes a lot in this story making her one of the top heroines for me.

So absolutely, I really liked this one. I was intrigued and found it hard to put down.

Jenny: No need to hide there Gitte….I was hoping for a little more steam as well! I did enjoy this one Gitte. There was plenty of drama, I loved the family unit and the brethren of the MC club and I loved that the characters were, for a change, a bit older. For me though it sort of lacked the grittiness of other books I’ve read with bikie themes. Don’t get me wrong, this book is definitely gritty and has some pretty full on scenes, and as much as I did enjoy, I found I didn’t love it.

Ginny completely won me over though. Here was such a gutsy, protective, strong, sassy heroine who took no crap, yet wasn’t so hard that you couldn’t warm to her. I really did love this woman. Don’t cross this woman or mess with her family! She is one protective Mumma and she will spare no pain or sympathy to anyone who hurts her boys or her man. This woman is fiercely protective, to the point of her own detriment.

“A mother is supposed to protect her children. I would die for mine” Ginny

Ginny is a loyal friend, a loving mother and loving, supportive and giving wife who really does hold everything together.

Zeke. Well, I certainly did this love this Detective/MC Prez. What strength this man showed. This alpha man had so much love and compassion. He was stoic and protective and whilst he may have kept his emotions in check, he makes sure his ol’ lady is in no doubt that she is his reason for living and he makes sure she knows it. He really does love her without question and would lay down his life for her.

“You don’t shield me” he snapped. “I protect you. Protect, provide, and procreate. Got it?” Zeke

These two are dealing with drama from every angle. It seems that everyone is out to get them and they both try so hard to shield the other from hurt and pain while taking on so much of that themselves.

Gitte: Yes, we love our biker books don’t we Jenny. These hot alpha protective males that preach family and love and guard each other fiercely and wholeheartedly. This book certainly had them, and I liked too that our main characters were older and settled, secure in their love for one another.

So Ginny, as I said, I thought she was great. She loved with passion and dedication. She stands up for what she believes no matter whom or what she is up against. Family comes first and she is like a lion in the wild protecting her cubs. She has had a pretty horrible life up until Zeke rescued her and since that day she has been there for her man in any way she can with an unwavering love. She is proper bad-arse!

As for Zeke, he is just an all-rounder. He is the MC President as well as a detective in the police. He is not really a vocal man in my opinion more like he shows his love, loyalty, protection and fierceness through his actions. Nor is he an outwardly emotional or physical man, but no one would be in any doubt of his love. His presence is so intense that at times he comes across as the calm seconds before the storm.

Ginny and Zeke was a great couple and the secondary characters were really well written too. The way the Author gave the reader an insight into their world was spot on and I watched it play out in front of me as I read.

I only had a few issues with this story which were the sudden alternating POV’s; they were very confusing at times. I had no idea who was talking and had to re-read passages. This affected the flow of the story and took me away from it. Also, despite how much I loved Ginny, I did have a problem with how she spoke about her sons sex life, this is personal to me, but as a Mum of two sons these scenes made me cringe. I would have liked more grit and “ugly” and definitely more steam too.

However, overall I thought it was a really enjoyable read and I can definitely recommend it for fans of biker books!

Jenny: Yep, we sure do love these biker books! I love alternating POV’s. I love to get inside characters heads, but I have to say with this one, I agree with you. I found the transition between some scenes/chapters and POV’s to be a bit disjointed and choppy, affecting the flow of story. At times the story stilted because I had to get my head around who was talking and if the events being described were past or present. It just didn’t flow that well.

I did enjoy this book. It certainly kept you on your toes with everything that was going on around you, and although I can’t say it was one of my favourite bikie books, I still found myself invested in the story of Zeke and Ginny. Great characters who absolutely enthralled me. This book did really did have a SOA type feel and heaven knows I do love my SOA. Even though there was a lot going on, the story did drag at times for me. Whilst you did feel the passion between Zeke and Ginny, the steam factor wasn’t as explosive as I hoped it would be in a book in this genre.

Holy Crap, I loved it. The protection of family--whether it be by blood, bikes, or by the thin blue line. Ginny is what I strive to be- loyal, strong, and fabulously smart. I was drawn in and couldn't stop. Onto book two... yay! Some of the best lines:

“Maybe you have Rhys whipped enough to put up with your viperous tongue, but you talk to my other two like that again and I will drown your worthless ass. You got me, Barbie?” she hissed. The girl nodded her frantic agreement and Ginny released her with a shove and turned her furious gaze on Rhys. “Get that worthless skank out of my pool and out of my sight.” Shaking water off her hands, Ginny stood and brushed past Zeke. Everyone gawked as she disappeared back into the house, slamming the screen door in her wake.

********************

“You really are a delusional bitch. Let’s get a couple things straight, shall we? There is no you and Zeke. By your own admission, you climbed on top of him after he passed out and helped yourself. It is probably a blessing he has no memory of it because the thought of fucking you makes him physically ill. Secondly, if you would’ve had any clue that Mox was Zeke’s son, you would’ve played that trump card day one, not twenty years later. We took Mox into our home and hearts long before there was a legal reason to. We did it because of who he is, not who his sperm donor is. That said, let me see if I can make this clear to you.” Ginny’s hand shot out and wrapped around Flo’s scrawny throat as she closed the distance between them, pinning the older woman to the cooler. Her nails dug into the jugular and she leaned close to whisper, “You’re going to leave my family alone. You’re going to stay away from my husband and you’re going to stop hurting Mox. I have to hand it to you. You know how to twist words to your will. Your poisonous whispers almost worked at the hog roast. If you try your venomous bullshit with Mox again, I will rip your fucking throat out. Do you understand me?"

I finally got around to reading this motorcycle club romance and while it was an okay, it did not have that ooomph that I was looking for. There were some things that really bothered me that I just couldn't get past.

This was an intense and suspenseful read about two very strong MC's and their love for each other as well as their family. Ginny is the ultimate heroine. She loves and supports her husband Zeke, even when he is at his worst and believe me at one point I wanted to jump into the pages and beat him senseless. She is also the consummate mama bear, protecting her boys even thought they are bigger and stronger than her. As we learn about their love story through flashbacks and memories we follow them through a intriguing and suspenseful investigation of Zeke by his long time nemesis who is an IA officer. An absolute must read!

Club Justice begins with Zeke having some issues at work. He's being accused of killing a suspect unfairly, and an internal investigation is underway. However, the man running the investigation has it in for Zeke, and things are going to get difficult soon.

Add in the fact that not only is Zeke a cop, but also the president of a the local motorcycle club and it all gets a little bit crazy.

I'm going to start off by saying that I liked the first half of this book for the most part. It was pretty interesting, and I enjoyed the characters.

But, then towards the middle and the rest it shifted, and I just couldn't stand it any longer.

Spoiler Alert:

There is cheating in the book. It doesn't really happen now, but it happened years ago, and that was dumb. It also doesn't exactly say that it doesn't happen anymore either, the characters just say that the hero is no saint, like that explains it.

This pisses me off about motorcycle club books, because in my opinion if a man can be loyal to his club brothers, than he should damn sure better be loyal to his wife or old lady as well.

And to top it all off it was frustrating that the characters couldn't really figure out who the "bad" guy was towards the end. And then you add in all the drama with that kid, and it just made me dislike the book. But, the cheating really threw me especially since the hero and heroine act so in love. If they've been in love for so long then why did he cheat? To me, that just didn't make sense, and it was annoying.

Club Justice by Mara Mc Bain is a superb cop story, cloaked in biker culture, with the theme of revenge. It is also a woman’s story even if the female characters are only allies of the protagonist or the antagonist.

Zeke and Ginny with their three children make a stable family. Zeke is a biker and a cop. When misfortune follows him and his wife, he can’t figure out the mysterious source of their bad luck. Then, after several twists and turns, the plot unravels to a gratifying end. Plus, to the reader’s satisfaction, the villain finds his comeuppance eventually, although who he is and his malevolence stay hidden in the beginning. The author comes up with so many red herrings that I could not safely predict who the true villain was until the last chapters.

The novel is written well, and it only took me a short while to wrap my understanding around the biker lingo and culture, but the author has done such a masterful job with it that the book became a delightful journey, a page turner, especially past the midway point when the action picked up. For a novel that can belong to a genre, the main characters are real, alive, and convincing as they are portrayed well beyond any genre requirements. What is more, these characters evoke reader empathy, which shows McBain’s skill as a writer.

The second book, to be published at or toward the end of 2012, promises to feature one of Zeke and Ginny’s children. I can hardly wait…

“Club Justice” is an amazing read by a debut novelist. From page one, my eyes were glued to the story and the characters it contained. Zeke’s dry humor is sure to make any reader smile, and his wife, Ginny, is a tough and intelligent woman whose strength always shines through. I really enjoyed reading about her, and more often than not, her sarcastic bibes had me laughing out loud. She’s such a refreshing change of pace from the helpless heroines we so often encounter in novels.

There’s tons of action, mystery, and suspense in this book. It will keep you guessing, and the villain is one who’s bound to elicit a few chills as they stalk the Brawer family. There’s also the underlying moral dilemma Zeke faces, and the everyday challenges that arise between him and his family to keep propelling the story. Nothing is truly black or white--the characters are all flawed as people, but that is also what makes them so believable.

All in all, this was a fresh, modern read with a compelling cast and a riveting plot. I definitely look forward to reading more from this author and recommend her to anyone looking for a captivating read.

I have sat and pondered what to say about this novel for days now...

Remember when our mothers back in the day used to say "Don't judge a book by its cover?" I admit I did with this novel, and was I surprised when I actually read it. It was really good.

Zeke is a cop. He's a husband. He's a father. He's a former Marine. And Zeke is also the president of a biker club. Not like the Hells Angels, but they do have a slight violent bent if family is threatened. And the club is family.

A rat I.A. cop has an unhealthy interest in Zeke after an Internal Affairs investigation clears Zeke and his partner in a shooting of a guy that they caught raping a 13 year old girl. Things start to happen - murder, arson, rumors and innuendo...you get the picture.

Are these crimes connected? Is the IA rat cop guilty of them? Or someone else that wants both Zeke and the club to go down?

I'll definitely read the other 2 novels in the trilogy

Mara McBain delivered a fast-paced, compelling, and intriguing read with Club Justice. The characters were well rounded and intense, and their actions and reactions were realistic and believable. I really fell under a spell reading this book.

Ginny, with her fresh, sarcastic attitude and formidable inner strength, will have you crying and laughing all at the same time, and Zeke, her rock-solid protector and husband, will have you torn between snickering and smacking him upside the head. Together, they create a world full of action, drama, suspense, and romance, all wound up together so tight that it's almost impossible to put down until the very last word.

Definitely a must read!

What an amazing read! Club Justice has everything you look for in a book! Drama, suspense, mystery ... you name it, this book's got it. The characterization was phenomenal! I mean, these characters truly jump off the page and into your heart. Mara McBain makes you `feel' for each and every one of them. She will have you laughing, raging, and even shedding a few tears while reading Club Justice. It was a well-written, engaging story that held my attention from page one right to the last page; a definite page turner. I honestly cannot wait for the next book in the `Trinity Falls Series'! I highly recommend this book. It's a definite MUST read!

This was one very interesting book, I'm not sure how do describe it, but I guess it shows what happens after the HEA, Zeke and Ginny have been married for 20 years, they've been trough a lot and once again they face their problems together and with their kids, friends and family.

CLUB JUSTICE was my first book my Mara McBain. As the first in the TrinityFalls series, I went in sort of expecting a SOA feel to it. While I did get some of that, I felt that the story was definitely more plot driven than romance driven. This didn’t bother me in the least because McBain has a very good, suspenseful plot here.

Detective Zeke Bawer is on the hunt for a serial rapist. Since this is a motorcycle club series, you can expect the gruesome details, although I wouldn’t say it’s the most traumatic ones I’ve read. But it’s still highly detailed and spares no emotion. As the investigation leads into a personal matter, this is where things start to resemble the motorcycle lifestyle. There’s shocking twists and turns and a lot of chaos to come.

I found that I really enjoyed McBain’s ability to create a family within the brotherhood of the motorcycle club. While it has a suspense and lots of action and violence, there is also a great emphasis on family and the concept of brotherhood as well. I personally really enjoyed this aspect of the book and feel that it’s the key to a lot of good motorcycle novels. While all the graphic violence is eye-opening, for me what makes a SERIES strong is the fact that there are places to go after the first book. McBain seems to have a solid plan going into the next books of the series so I’m eager to see how those books pan out and discover what else lies ahead for the Lords of Mayhem.

I liked this, but I didn't love it. Why? A couple of reasons, one the length. I thought it could have been edited shorter. I felt like I was reading unnecessary filler, at times. Second, the constant POV change. I was reading Zeke, Ginny, Mox, Kat, Crux, Donovan, Kramer, Bowie, and I think even Rhys was thrown in there a couple of times. It was just too much.

What I did love. GINNY!!!!! Holy badass mama bear. I want to be her when I grow up.

I also loved the family. I loved how you never knew who was going to show up at the dinner table, but there was always enough for everybody. I loved how they were protective of everyone and that includes the women and children.

Speaking of children, mad love for Mox! At first I was put off by people calling him an ox, but then I rolled with it. Rhys, well, I think he's a dipshit. I don't know how a mother can talk about their sons "wetting their dicks" though. I wanted to scream NOOOOO! when I read that. I understand they are 19/20, but come on...that's your son, Ginny. Don't be talking about their dicks inside of women.

I also liked how this was a "clean" MC. They weren't out looking for blood, drugs, women, etc. They were a family who came together...on bikes. But, if you mess with one, you mess with them all and well, I can't say they'll go easy on you.

Mox's story is next and I am excited to read it since I loved him so much in Zeke's story.

For Zeke, family man, motorcycle club president and police detective (in that order of importance), life has become quite entangled and unbalanced. After a shooting in the line of duty, an over zealous Internal Affairs investigator with a "hard-on" for Zeke, and the reappearance of a banned former MC member, Zeke and his wife Ginny's livelihood's are threatened, their friends and family harassed and their safety put at risk.

I loved this book!!!! It is right up my ally.....a man's man, family guy, bad boy character. All grumbles and growls, few words, but you know that each one uttered means something. Ginny, his wife, is no wilting flower either....she has some hair on her chest! So to speak. You must, to put up with a household full of testosterone! A some point in the book I actually find her taking on an almost bigger role than Zeke, when she tries to take some of the stress off him. Something he obviously does NOT appreciate very much, Alpha that he is.

Lots of action, plenty of snappy banter and enough spicy heat!! The style of writing reminds me a lot of Kristen Ashley, who is my favorite writer, so that is saying a lot! Definitely a worthwhile read and very reasonably priced.

Great book I didn't want to put down!
Interesting to read a biker book that was not your typical outlaw kind. Zeke was a Marine, now a Cop and also the president of his MC. Story focused more on his frustrations with his job and his loyalty to his family and brothers. He puts up with more harassment then most men could endure, as do his family. Ginny is a strong wife, mum and friend, well respected and takes life head on. Kramer is an old colleague with an agenda for revenge and he is pulling an ongoing a mongrel act in his unrelenting pursual of Zeke. Story was a mixture of SoA, mixed with Rock Chicks but it didn't feel like I was reading a 'copy' of either.
Grew to love Mox, his character was presented well and the more you got to know him, the more endearing he became . I think its fitting that we'll be reading about him in the next book!
