Jackson Magnet is having a talent show. Howie is excited because everyone--mothers, fathers, grandparents, neighbors, teachers, kids, even the Channel Seven News Team--will be there to hear her sing. But at the final dress rehearsal in front of the entire school, she gets so scared she can't perform her song. Will Howie make it through Opening Night? In the third book of her Jackson Friends series, Michelle Edwards uses gentle humor to transform a familiar experience into a moving and triumphant story that's just right for beginning readers.
I admired this book. It talked about a girl that was in the second grade and she was to perform in the talent show. Besides the fact, she was scared. She thought she could do it and she did it at the night performance. Never let one performance ruin your chances at trying again. It took a lot of guts for Howie, the second grader, to get back up on the stage and try again. Many kids these days face this issue. They are scared. They get up there and then get scared and sick and have to run off the stage. It happens to everybody. This book would be good to read when your students have a big performance coming up so nobody gets scared and to show them that if they fail in rehearsal then they can try again for the actual show and knock it out of the park!
