Oliver Napoleon Hill was an American self-help author and conman. He is best known for his book Think and Grow Rich (1937), which is among the best-selling self-help books of all time. Hill's works insisted that fervid expectations are essential to improving one's life. Most of his books were promoted as expounding principles to achieve "success".
Hill is a controversial figure. Accused of fraud, modern historians also doubt many of his claims, such as that he met Andrew Carnegie and that he was an attorney.

This man made his life to one goal; finding the laws of success and surely he did wonderful in his research. for over a century his books are still full of practical and useful formulas for people to succeed. what is magnetic in his research was that he concerned on applying the laws on himself before concluding it as a law. this job took from him over three decades to conduct it.
I highly recommend this book

This isn’t actually the book I read but it’s close. The book I read is called “Dream Big! Overcoming Fear and Achieving Success” but I can’t find the title on Goodreads. So I chose to put my review under this book which seems close enough.

Dream Big is a series of excerpts from Napoleons writing. He is a legend when it comes to personal growth and motivational speaking. He was selling millions of books before Tony Robbins’ parents were even born.

Napoleon wrote most of his thoughts in the early 20th century, shortly after the Great Depression. They are good thoughts as far as personal growth (focus on what you want, make a plan, remind yourself of it every day, etc). They are just not as advanced as the personal/leadership growth conversations that are happening now.

I wouldn’t want to read a full Napoleon Hill book as I think it will feel well outdated, but I have appreciation for him and how he birthed an entire industry on personal growth / success-mindedness. He was a thinker well ahead of his time.

UPDATED REVIEW: I just learned a lot more about Napoleon Hill and as it turns out he was a huge con man and compulsive liar. Instead of reading any of his books, read the biography on him. It’s insane.

I think this book is the precise version of author's another book "Law of Success". As he kept talking about that book. I wouldn't say it's a bad book. But quite hard to comprehend. Author has gave seventeen general rule for success.

First some of the chapters are filled with scientific jargons. It will definitely make you bore. Perhaps from the middle of the book it will all make sense. So keep on reading even if you feel bore.

I would suggest to read this book after reading his another book "Law of Success".

It is a good summary of his 17 principles. It doesn't go into too much depth, but a good quick overview of them.

The choice of words for motivating the readers to move their ass down to work is sublime.
