Tips on keeping a field notebook are also included. Packed with more than 200 full-color illustrations, this comprehensive guide is a valuable reference tool for nature enthusiasts.
This is an excellent entry level book or - for people like me - a reminder of what I learned at school, plus more besides. I live on the edge of Kibale National Park in Uganda. I’ve found the ID charts very useful for researching lepidoptera, coleoptera and Hymenoptera.
Wonderfully simple introduction into the world of insects. I got this book on a whim because I was feeling very homeschool-ish and wanted to someday own my very own couriousity cabinet. So I have decided to try and collect some specimens for the cabinet. This book not only gives you knowledge of bugs but also gives a practical how to guide in capturing, pinning, displaying and observing.
When our son became fascinated with bugs, we gave him this book. Excellent reference for kids and adults. We still use it even after our son is grown and no longer really interested in bugs.
