This arc was very fun and almost just high stakes tag, and the art execution was still very fluid and I think surpasses that of the anime. It’s just the pacing felt relatively slower and just more filler-y, but I’m still stoked to see what just waiting around the corner, I just had to recover from the pain of the betrayal on Hatsu, just not cool at all guys

This story does a good job including interesting side characters. You really come to care about them. They work well together even with their differing personalities and backgrounds

Tower of God by S.I.U. (Lee Jong-Hui) is a long-running webcomic series about a youth named Twenty-Fifth Bam who inadvertently begins to climb the titular tower in search of a mysterious girl named Rachel. Along the way, he makes many new friends and enemies, including his loyal companions Khun and Rak, as they face the tests of the Tower in order to 'level up.' In this volume, the reader learns about different specializations of the Tower climbers (regulars), while the characters face the 'Hide and Seek' test against a Ranker, someone who has succeeded in climbing to the top of the Tower.
Having read this series off and on for over a decade, it's nice to revisit early arcs, especially in print format. This is also a point where, as more world-building details are revealed, the plot begins to get darker--one of the overarching themes is "What are you willing to sacrifice to achieve your heart's desire?" Sweet summer child Bam is slowly being forced to face this question here, and this book sets up a major plot point coming up in an upcoming plot arc. That said, this is a series meant for pure entertainment, despite the feeling that it could be an allegory for...so many things. Don't try to solve the puzzles set before the characters--readers are often missing a key detail necessary for the dramatic grand reveal. Perhaps one day, readers will learn more about the world that Bam comes from. Until then, this is a good series to binge and has been adapted into a very well-done anime; it's a good choice for fans of fantasy action shounen series.
Readers who enjoy this series may also like: Tower of God (anime adaptation, 2020), Liar Game by Shinobu Kaitani, and Alice in Borderland by Haro Aso, among others.

Es un tomo bastante flojo en general, pero las 3 estrellas se la lleva por lo mucho que conocemos de los personajes aquí
La lealtad de Khun para con Bam, la verdadera personalidad de Endorsi, lo suave que es Bam con sus amigos y lo ingenuo e idealista que es en la situación en la que está.
Esto también nos es clave para lo que pasa en un futuro de la historia (al menos el desarrollo de los personajes), ya quiero releer las siguientes entregas antes de proseguir con mi lectura normal del tercer arco en Webtoon y ver qué tanto han evolucionando estos personajes a los que quiero tanto
La lealtad de Khun para con Bam, la verdadera personalidad de Endorsi, lo suave que es Bam con sus amigos y lo ingenuo e idealista que es en la situación en la que está.
Esto también nos es clave para lo que pasa en un futuro de la historia (al menos el desarrollo de los personajes), ya quiero releer las siguientes entregas antes de proseguir con mi lectura normal del tercer arco en Webtoon y ver qué tanto han evolucionando estos personajes a los que quiero tanto

I'm not sure why the volumes take so long to be printed when the webtoon is ahead hundreds of chapters but this one covers 39.5 to 50, apparently. I've been re reading the chapters and from what I've seen so far the volumes aren't any different so I can safely review this.
These chapters were quite heavy. As we try to reach our goals we often have to step on others, even unintentionally. It's even worse in Tower of God when you know that each test you take forces someone else to fail. Everyone has their own goals and desires so it comes down to who will be trickier, faster, more talented, luckier etc. Each level you pass steals something from you.
This volume could also be called Betrayal and it's only the first series of betrayals to many more. Bam and his team passed the test but to what cost?

Volume 5 contains episodes 40-50 of the tower of god webtoon.
In this volume we return to our friends who are climbing up the tower. The newest test is a high stakes hide and seek challenge. Before this test starts it was made very clear that the administrators don't agree with each other about this testing method. Each of the Teams must face a Tower Ranker. The Rankers are people who have already made it to the top of the tower. The teams must fight them physically or use their mental wits against them. This is the first time since Khun and Bam have teamed up, that they are not on the same team.
In usual Khun fashion he has more than one plan ready to execute. Bam , is about to face a danger and betrayal he never sees coming.
In this volume we have a tad slower pace, but its full of very important character and plot development.
The ending and betrayal that comes is heart breaking.
The story is really building and you can see that we are headed in for big changes, Im really enjoying seeing our characters grow in to their own as well as grow as a team. Its going to be interesting to see how every one reacts to the big betrayal at the end and how this will continue to move the story forward.
I cant wait for volume 6.

PT Gostei mais deste volume do que do anterior — talvez por agora já estar mais envolvido e ambientado na história.
Mantém-se a mesma dinâmica do volume passado: a equipa “A” conclui o jogo e chega a vez da equipa “B”, onde se encontra o Bam.
Como já referi anteriormente, o ponto mais forte desta série são, sem dúvida, os diálogos e as interações entre as personagens. A arte não é extraordinária, mas cumpre bem a sua função. O que realmente prende o leitor é a narrativa e a curiosidade constante de saber o que vai acontecer a seguir.

The same dynamic from the last volume continues: Team “A” finishes the game, and it’s now Team “B”’s turn, where Bam is.
As I’ve mentioned before, the strongest aspect of this series is undoubtedly the dialogues and the interactions between the characters. The art isn’t extraordinary, but it serves its purpose well. What truly keeps the reader hooked is the narrative and the constant curiosity to find out what happens next.

The story was flowing nicely until this steaming pile came up. It's like the author is writing some other story with bad dialogue and drawn-out events. I expected my interest in the series to wain, so it's no great loss.

Creo que lo destacable de este tomo es ver la fidelidad de Kuhn hacia Bam. Obviamente que todo tiene un porqué y que más adelante lo veremos, pero por el momento parece que, simplemente, lo quiere.
También se descubre que Rachel es Rachel, Bam se da cuenta y la salva, pero seguimos en el juego de las escondidas del equipo B.
Por el momento sigue fiel al anime aunque hay algunos detalles que cambian, pero que no hacen el conjunto total de todo lo que pasa.

The story continues in Vol 5 of Tower of God. The only complaint I really have is that I wished there was more to read. I really enjoy the cast of characters and the complex web of betrayal and loyalty that begins to be created. Many of the characters seen here are ones that continue through the narrative and play a big part in the story.
I really enjoy Tower of God and am happy to keep supporting the English release of it. I just wish the volumes came out a bit quicker than once a year.

February 10, 2021Bam(the main guys name) is showing what happened earlier in his life and why he is going to the far extent to save the girl. Then the new level showed how much harder it is and what to expect for others that are much harder.

Will Rachel ever give a proper reason as to why she doesn't want Bam to follow her? She is a conflicting character, at one point, she cares so much for Bam; at another, she holds him at the end of a proverbial pole.
Poor Hoh, he really illustrates the mindset of the truly desperate.
