Lucinda Price is followed by shadows and she doesn't know why. She started a fire so she ends up in a school for difficult kids/young-adults. There, she meets different people and she doesn't know what to make of them.
Daniel Grigori was very mysterious and aloof and I started to like his characters as the book progressed. Cameron was evil and I liked him still. In fact, I liked all the other characters in the book. Arriane, Roland, Gabby and even Molly. I didn't know what to make of them. Some of them were bad and some good but they were all friends and I loved their friendship.
I liked the first book in the series. It is a mystery of sorts as we are introduced with some characters but we don't know what to make of them. As the book progresses, we obviously get the gist of the plot but there aren't a lot of answer by the end of the first book.
Fallen - 3.5 stars
Torment is aptly titled and my least liked of the series. I really hated the slow-plot and all the characters became stupid too.
These two books, Fallen and Torment by Lauren Kate were kind of slow for me at the beginning and the only real action was at the end of each book. This is just my opinion. On YouTube there have been good reviews and some bad reviews, but I am one of those inbetweeners. That means that I didn't love the book nor did I hate it.
Fallen (Fallen #1) - 3 Stars 17-year-old Lucinda falls in love with a gorgeous, intelligent boy, Daniel, at her new school, the grim, foreboding Sword & Cross . . . only to find out that Daniel is a fallen angel, and that they have spent lifetimes finding and losing one another as good & evil forces plot to keep them apart.
No matter how hard I tried to connect with Lucinda I just did not get her at all. I thought her overall character was off-putting making the story less than magical.
