Farmer Jack and his pet dino-dog get up early each morning to tend to the duties on the dinosaur farm.
First the pterodactyl eggs need collecting. Then the triceratops need to be let out to graze. Of course the diplodocus need a good scrub after their mud bath - they do get very messy! As the day goes on, Jack becomes more battered and bruised by his encounters - the pterodactyl were not the most co-operative when it came to collecting their eggs, the diplodocus's bath time was a bit more exciting than it was meant to be and the boisterous tricerotops sent him flying as they rushed out of their pen!
Exhausted after his daily chores, Jack collapses into bed. But wait! Did he remember to close the gate to the T-Rex pen?!

This is a perfect primary education book for home schoolers and for the classroom. The story is well told with simple words, and it is amusing. It would fun for teachers discussing 'the farm' and for teachers discussing 'dinosaurs.' I read it to our grandson Jack, who is in first grade. He loved it!
Clever play on farming that brings in children's love for dinosaurs as well. The farmer raises dinosaurs and has to complete all the chores involved in farming on a much bigger scale.
Dinosaur Farm was a very cute read with chunky, colorful illustrations. It's a perfect picture book to read to children who enjoy dinosaurs or farms. We often think of all the work it takes to keep a farm in good running order, but this adds a little different perspective and humor, since it is a dinosaur farm. It's a short book and fun read aloud for a classroom or at home.
This library book was in really rough shape. The text of this book is benign, pretty boring, and contrasts with the illustrations. The text could apply to a typical farm, but the pictures show a farmer trying to take care of all the dinosaurs he is raising. An okay book, but not necessarily worth checking out again.
Having a farm is hard work, having a dinosaur farm is even more work. This fun dinosaur story tells of all the things that need to be done to keep your dinosaur farm operating. Just always remeber to close the gate!
All of the instructions and activities are actually true to traditional farming, just in this version, all of the farm animals happen to be dinosaurs. A unique little twist to keep things more engaging for the kids.

My kinders loved this book and liked looking at all the illustrations and different dinosaurs in the book. It had humor and also used dinosaurs to talk about like and work on the farm which fit in nicely with our farming unit and fit in a different way. It also works for a great writing/speaking prompt
"It's hard work being a farmer..." This story goes through the typical day of a farmer. Except instead of chickens and cows, this farmer has dinosaurs and man eating plants. But in the end he sleeps peacefully surrounded by the wonderful dinosaurs he takes care of.
The illustrations are mixed media. They have a lot of texture and color and are large, making it easier for the little ones to view. The pictures were funny and enjoyable to look at.
This story is a wonderful take on a typical farmer's day. There was humor sprinkled throughout including the pile of poop the farmer had to clean up while the dinosaur behind him snickers. Children will love laughing out loud at this book.
The only thing that bothered me was on the fourth page the farmer started his day by eating a great big dinosaur egg. I know, I know. We eat eggs and they come from chickens. But later in the book is an illustration of hatching dinosaur eggs. Whimper. I eat eggs, but I had a hard time with this scene. Hopefully I am the only one and children will not notice this.
This is a fun book for ages 3-6 as both a read aloud and for beginning level readers.
A simple tale with text about a farmer going about his daily chores on the farm. However, the illustrations show that this is no ordinary farm, this is DINOSAUR FARM!
The basic text allows the illustrations to shine. An easy to read and engaging tale with illustrations that are a lot of fun.
My rating: 4/5 Master 5's rating: I liked it - I especially liked the picture with the farmer carrying the big steak Master 3's rating: I liked it - I liked the dinosaur poo (every 3 year old boy loves a poo joke, right?!)
In this very particular farm, all the usual farm work is done with the particularity that the animals that have to be cared for are not the ones we usually see. Nice illustrations.
Baserri berezi honetan, ohiko baserriko lan guztiak zaindu behar diren animaliak normalean ikusten ez diren berezitasunarekin egiten dira. Ilustrazio politak.
En esta granja tan particular se hacen todos los trabajos habituales de una granja con la particularidad de que los animales que hay que cuidar no son las que solemos ver habitualmente. Bonitas ilustraciones.
It's hard work being a farmer--and even harder running a DINOSAUR FARM! Children will love spending a day on this vibrant farm, filled with appealing prehistoric creatures of every shape and size. They'll follow the farmer from dawn till dusk, through feedings, cleanings, baby hatchings, and finally to a sweet bedtime nighty-night. Who knew dinosaurs could be so cuddly? With clever dino-touches throughout, Frann Preston-Gannon's picture book will become a perennial favorite.
Some younger kids will enjoy this for the sheer goofiness, but for me it just didn't pay off on its wonderful premise, that there is a farm where all of the animals are dinosaurs. For one thing, even younger kids who know dinosaurs will see that having a predator on a farm doesn't make sense. Also, the carnivorous plants in the garden were a little too forcibly clever an idea. Still, the jokes about dinosaur poop and really big breakfast eggs were funny.
Managing a farm is hard work, especially if your animals are dinosaurs. This book takes the reader through a day in the life of farmer on a dinosaur farm. Illustrations, that appear to be created from cut paper, help the reader realize that this is no ordinary farm. In my opinion, this is a great example of a picture book because the pictures and the text enhance one another. I would use this to describe what a picture book is to a class. Dinosaur lovers will also enjoy this read.
