This is a beautiful, unique book!

Be warned, however- this is not a magical recipe book, packed full with recipes for magical oil blends. Instead, Mixing Essential Oils for Magic gives readers the tools needed to mix and create their own personal essential blends for magic- based on plant type, scent, high notes, low notes, and the individual magical properties of various botanicals.

This is a must have book for witches who are interested in natural magic, as well as homemade beauty. You can then take what is learned about mixing essential oils and use it to create your own magical perfumes, balms, cremes, and lotions- all with the plants medicinal and magical properties in mind!

I really do think that this is a beautiful, unique book that puts a fresh spin on natural magic and magical herbalism- anyone looking to spice up or add depth to their magical practice would be well advised to look into this book. This book is more suited to the advanced herbal magician, as opposed to a budding one.

All in all, this is an irreplaceable book-there's no book like it on the market today.

The info on what the Essential oils can be used for can be found in a lot of other book, BUT the information on blending is why you want this one. I have been using EOs this way for 30 years and have never seen as good a how to blend them as I have found here. I would say this is a must have just for the blending info, if you use the the EOs for magic or therapeutically.

This is a quite informative book on oils and herbs and their relations. I picked this up from the library, but am definitely going to purchase a copy for myself.

This book focuses on how to blend essential oils for use in magic and ritual, and yes, that's pretty much what the title promises. But while I'm guessing many books on essential oils include a lot of recipes, or are only recipes, there are hardly any in this book. Kynes has included maybe four recipes in the entire book, mainly as examples. Instead, the strength of this book is Kynes's detailed explanation of how to blend essential oils effectively. She has chapters on blending by botanical family, scent group, and perfume note, as well as by magical purpose ("As Above, So Below"). There is also a chapter on the magical uses of the carrier oils. The last half of the book is an encyclopedia of essential and carrier oils, listing the botanical and blending information for each, as well as the magical correspondences. This is a fine book for learning how to blend essential oils, but may be less than satisfying if what you want is a quick reference of recipes.

This is a GREAT guide for using essential oils in your magic. Terrific reference guide with useful indices in the back. Honestly, despite all the great info in the front of the book regarding blending oils, and the oils themselves (AND carrier oils, she does not neglect those!) the real need for this book is the indices. It's information I've not found anywhere else.

If you use essential oils in your craft, you need this and Valerie Ann Worwood's book.

It had a lot of useful information, it was basically an encyclopedia. There is nothing in it that you cant just google.

Love it! Almost exactly what I had wanted. Unlike other books I have found on oils and magic, this actually explained why the oils have certain beliefs attached to them and their history and cultural significance, which I find to be the most interesting and useful part of magic and perfume. Not just like, IDK, Love is blahblahblah oil, end of story, no explanation, which I see all the time in these books. Not as in depth as I would have liked, but this is a practical book for mixing your own oil blends instead of a history book so I understand. Clearly written and divided the information well, which I very, very much appreciate. I got this book via netgalley and liked it so much I bought a hard copy to put on my shelf.

I love this book! Lots of wonderful information on mixing and the origins of various oils. I love how it is broken down in various ways and then cross referenced to make searching easier. I'll be looking for more of her books for sure.
