Tight Friends = Loose Pants!

Use friendship and accountability to help you reach your weight loss goals and share laughs, tears and lots of fun along the way!

The authors were BFFs caught in the endless cycle of yo-yo dieting, having already employed every weight loss tactic on the market. Forget the dress size, they just wondered what it would be like to fully participate in conversations over dinner without being wholly distracted by the bread basket!

Taking a tip from countless magazines and books ("Work out with a friend."), a new plan was formed and pact was forged based on one simple tool: friendship. The weight came off -- lots of weight. But even more importantly, the accountability between friends meant taking care of their bodies and their psyches.

1 Weight Loss Plan, 2 Friends, 3 Weeks: Using the Buddy System to Fight Fat is a real-life account of two women and their weight loss journey. The book is not just a guide to how you can live a healthy lifestyle. For that you can choose among the countless weight loss books that are likely collecting dust on your bedside table. April Paine is a writer, teacher and small joy enthusiast. April loves reading Dickens, Austen and Atkins. She is eager to participate in discussions about health, weight, parenting and other topics that often make us feel like self-slapping (but April believes it doesn’t have to be like that).

After a decade in England, April now resides in the great state of Texas with her husband, two children and an irrational fear of being stopped by a Texas State Trooper. During her tenure in England, she learned a little about tea and a lot about keeping calm and carrying on. Now that she’s back in Texas, she’s learning a lot about iced tea and a little about going crazy and dancing the Texas two-step.

In the mood for a good read? April is the proud author of The ABCs of Baby #2 - a book she co-wrote with her sister, Kimberly Crabb. Unlike traditional baby books, this book is geared toward parents about to embark on the adventures of a second child. It’s a book that breaks down the steps for welcoming a sibling and encourages parents to treat themselves with kindness as they introduce a new member into the family.

Looking for something healthy and fun? You might like April’s latest book, 1 Weight Loss Plan, 2 Weeks, 3 Friends; Using the Buddy System to Fight Fat. Co-written with her college BFF, Stacey Wein, this book embraces the buddy system when it comes to weight loss and will keep you chuckling all night long as you uncover page after page of “been there” moments. 1 Weight Loss Plan, 2 Friends, 3 Weeks is more than this duo’s weight loss memoir though, it’s a buddy system plan that actually works. So grab a friend and embrace all that healthy living has to offer today!

This was a pretty funny book. Though a lot shorter than I was expecting, I mean, A LOT, it provided some cute insight. While nothing in the book was hardcore revolutionary or backed up by experts, it was cute to read about how these women used each other to help the other lose weight. While nothing in the book was completely new, it did provide real life problems and solutions and gave insight that actually made sense. The things they said were kind of common sense but they made sense and they're the kind of things you can find it easy to live up to every day.

Disclaimer: I received this book in exchange for an honest review from first-reads

This is a swift boot to the butt book! Very motivating, humorous, and common sensical...I highly recommend it if you need inspiration to get back on the treadmill! It worked for me. These writers made me laugh so hard because they totally get our love/hate relationship with food...and the mirror. Their plan makes sense, period.

Not only do Paine and Wein have great ideas about leveraging one of your most cherished relationships for better results on the scale, they wrap this wisdom up in a well-written, witty format you can't put down. These gals are terrific writers - and writers without that belly bulge that comes from sitting at the computer all day! This book is a testament to the power of true freindship.

Loved this book. Its the first really funny book I've read about weight loss. Its easy to read and provides an easily adaptable path to relying on a close friend to keep you on track rather than a paid program.

I won this as a goodreads first-read giveaway. This was a very quick read with a very simple message. This method makes sense and will likely work if the partners are both dedicated.

This quick read did not contain any earth-shattering revelations about weight loss, but was instead a reminder of common sense wisdom about losing weight. The truth is, weight loss gets so complicated by fad diets and contradictory information, when we really all know what to do. Exercise more, eat less, swap less healthy foods for better choices and allow yourself an occasional cheat meal. What I liked about this book was the idea of working with a buddy for support and accountability. Sounds very simple, but think about how much stronger your resolve will be if a friend is cheering you on and encouraging good choices every day. There was other good advice here, too, and the authors seem like a lot of fun; they are like your best girlfriends and don't try to portray themselves as dietitians or fitness experts. I enjoyed this and will give the strategies a try.

What I love most about this book is it's short; that makes it easy to read! I also love the personal stories, they are funny and easy to relate to; it makes reading about dieting interesting. There are some ideas in this book that I feel might actually work. It's real and not all about just eating less and exercising more. It makes you feel like losing weight isn't this huge daunting mountain you have to climb but something you might actually be able to accomplish. I can't wait to try out the ideas April and Stacey have come up with and I thank them for sending me this book (received from a goodreads contest)!

This book was a quick read which was great because the ideas were, for the most part, the same as many other books with one important difference, a buddy system. We all know the basic ideas are to exercise more, eat less, pick healthy options, etc but I think a buddy system will help with giving you support and encouragement while also holding you accountable.

I received a free copy of this book through GoodReads.
