The Clown Fish and the Great Shark was another one of the amazing stories. The illustrations of the little clownfish and his environment was beautifully done.

The rhyming is so perfectly executed. It was a great book for me to read along with the six year old.
Lily Lexington is turning into one of our favorite children's book authors.

Very cute children’s story with rhyming words. The illustrations were beautiful and it was thoroughly enjoyable. And the story also explains about the ocean life in simple tones. Loved it.

Jasper is a clown fish who will do anything for fun, even take the dare of stealing a shark tooth right from its own mouth. When Jasper gets in over his head, help comes from an unexpected place. The book’s artwork captures the fun of the story, told in rhyme, as well as the color of a coral reef. Along the way, Jasper and little ones will learn a thing or two about ocean creatures and a life lesson or two. This is a perfect anytime story for little ones and early readers.

This was definitely a cute book with a good story and the only reason that it didn't get another star from me was the fact that it made great white sharks look bad. Yep they are scary predators and they attack other living animals for their food but that is the same with humans as well so that took away from it.

Otherwise I loved the illustrations, especially with the big scary shark, which is one of my favorite shark species. They allowed the reader to get a sense of being under the sea while if you are knowledgeable about undersea creatures you will find out the twist long before the author actually gets there.

Otherwise the writing was easy and clear so in other words a great book for children to learn to read and one for them to just enjoy as well.

Lily Lexington has done it again!

Like her other books, Ms. Lexington teaches another important lesson as she transports kids into a breathtaking underwater world. The encounter between two very different fish clearly reveals the moral of this story: don’t judge others before you get to know them.

As much as I admire great literature, I also appreciate beautiful artwork. This author presents her enriching stories to children with vibrant illustrations. I enjoyed the rhyming poetry style she used for this particular picture book.

5 star children book.

A tale of a clownfish who succumbs to peer pressure to get a tooth from the big scary Great Shark. The shark is not who everyone expected and is really nice and even gives the clownfish a tooth while inviting everyone else to come and visit him. It proves that looks are not everything and is a great read for children of all ages. Beautiful pictures also!

The Tale of The Clownfish and the Great Shark - This is my first read by this author. I did not care for the description about the shark and his victims; incorrect behavior on both parts. Usually he bites chunks depending on the size of his prey. There is screaming before being swallowed. Yes, this is a children's book but reality should rule.

I did not care for dares of this magnitude. This is life threatening and not a good example for impressionable children to follow. Now we have the herd mentality forcing the wrong decision to be made, again, this is a bad example of acceptable behavior.

At least the episode with the eel showed there are not always good consequences to decisions. Learning the skills to make good decisions needs to be a focus.

Unfortunately, the path taken to get to the importance of not judging others by outward appearances was an unacceptable path to take. More emphasis on being a whale shark instead of a clownfish is what I taught my g-gchildren, just like the generations before them. While the outcome of the story was correct, I was not happy with what it took to get there. Not all parents sit down with their children and explain why certain behaviors or thoughts should not be acted out.

I did not show this book to my kids since there are better examples to reinforce the values and the morals and the proper behavior towards self and others. Plus, some of the dialog was silly, although it was meant to be humorous; a whale eating cooked casseroles. 2*

What creatures live in the ocean?
There is a Great White Shark. He can be mean.
Jasper (Clownfish) is a joker.
He lives close by the corral reefs.
Ozzie (octopus) wanted Jasper to swim with him.
Jasper looked up & saw the cruel eel. Jasper could be his dinner.

What did the Whale Shark say to Jasper?

I do not receive any type of compensation for reading & reviewing free books from publishers & authors. Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.

An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written children’s (preschool/elementary age) rhyming storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great children’s educational presentation (love), movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.

THE TALE OF THE CLOWNFISH AND THE GREAT SHARK by Lily Lexington is a story about misunderstanding, bullies, and discrimination.

Like Jasper the clownfish, all of the animals under the sea are afraid of the great shark. Big and looming, the shark is seen as a threat but when Ozzie the Octopus dares Jasper to steal a tooth from the great shark, Jasper will discover that not everything or everyone is who they appear to be.

Told in AABB rhyme scheme, with colorful images, THE TALE OF THE CLOWNFISH AND THE GREAT SHARK is a children’s story (with a familiar looking lead) but due to language and words such as electrolytes and pilfer, there may be a need for explanation-the story/moral is better suited to a child under six

Jasper Makes A New Friend

The storyline is great and the illustrations are picture perfect. I highly recommend this book. There are other Clownfish books in this series.
Under the deep is a mean Great Shark. Jasper's a clownfish who trys all he is dared without asking why. Clownfish live in the light by the coral. Ozzie the octopus dared Jasper to go deep below and get a shark tooth. "I'll do it if you dare me to!". " We all dare you to go! ". Jasper swam down with not one care. He felt a net come down over his head. Whose net is it? Did he get out? You get to listen/read to find out. Yipee!!

Fun, Engaging Story With A Great Message

This was a fun, engaging story with beautiful, colorful illustrations. There were some moments of tense suspense where you didn’t know what was going to happen next with Jasper (lots of worried ‘oh no’s’ from my students who seemed to be on the edge of their seats), and then a delightful revelation that brought big smiles all around. Not only was it entertaining and educational (my students loved learning more about the ocean and its creatures), but there was a great moral to the story, too: don’t judge a book by its cover. Will definitely be reading more of Lily Lexington’s books with them in the future!

Cute rhyming story of fish

My son and I were looking at kids books and he picked this book himself. We read this book tonight and he loved it. He liked the pictures and the colors.
I thought the book was very cute and taught a lesson about not judging before you know someone. This also taught about having courage to be adventurous and not afraid to try something new even if it was dangerous and not so smart to do. If he had not taken the risk he would have not known the truth and made a wonderful new friend.
So i recommend this book its a cute story and it all flows together quite nicely.

The Tale of the Clownfish and the Great Shark by Lily Lexington
Colorful rhyming children's book about the Great White Shark who lives down deep in the ocean.
Different fish are shown and a few sentences about each one, things they do or eat or their colors.
They each dared another to go down to see the shark to steal a sharp tooth from him.
What happens when Jasper the clown fish goes down deeper is amazing and they get to really talk to one another.
Other works by the author are highlighted at the end.

Rhyming book for younger readers. The clownfish accepts any dare - even when he should stop and think. He heads for the deep and the scary shark to get one of its teeth. He's captured by an eel and rescued by the shark. The shark shares that he's a whale shark and eats from his garden. The two become friends and the clownfish brings his other friends to play too.
Brightly colored illustrations will appeal to young readers. The rhyming text flows smoothly.

My granddaughter and I really recommend.

We really enjoy reading this book before bedtime. It’s a cute story that teaches the children about doing things that friends dare to do and the consequences. Also, that if something looks different it does not mean they are bad. She loved. Did I say we love the rhymes?!?

A silly clown fish accepts a great dare.

A fun rhyming read from under the sea. The silly clown fish does not seem to have a care in the world always up to something. He does not care or think of the danger he is putting himself into by accepting the dare. But things are not all they seem when he heads into the unknown dark seabed. Pretty and bright illustrations.

Adorable Story

I liked this book a lot. It reminded me of Aesop's fable "under the lion's paw," about the mouse who is saved from a trap by a lion's, and then later he helps the lion out. The little clownfish in this story has a similar experience with a big scary shark. The story shows that you shouldn't judge people until you know them.

Lots of colourful pictures

Lovely story with good rhymes that gently probes into children's issues of making dares and misjudging others. It's educational too. It adds to the reader's general knowledge as they read about and learn the names of different marine creatures. Good for preschool - Grade 2.

A brilliant story and easy to read. The morals behind it are great, both not to do dares without a second thought as it may put you in danger, and to not judge others based of rumours that are often untrue. Perfect to read in schools or for bedtime.
