When seventeen year old Sage Appleton's parents send her to boarding school to earn her wand, it's like stepping into a whole new world. Home-schooled all her life, Sage had no idea that girls could be so nasty, that classes could be so interesting, or that boys could be so immature.

Settling in with her new friends, she tries to keep her head down and not get noticed. Then the Witchfinder General comes to the school, posing as an Ofsted Inspector, and suddenly everyone wants to know about her. Is Sage the Last Ancient, the living channel for all magic on earth? Have her parents been lying to her? And, if she is the Last Ancient, how are they going to keep her safe?

With her life on the line and the Witchfinder General close on her heels, no-one can afford to slip up.

I flew through thus book at a riveting pace, absorbing the story to the fullest. It was truly satisfying. I was kept spellbound by the charming characters and was intrigued by their realistic approach to using magic. I'm also onto book two now which is called Marked and I was so relieved to find all of these books in this series on kindle unlimited. Yay!! Spicer is in my favorites list now and is definitely talented. You feel the emotions rolling off the page. What more do you need from a book, romance, magic, a little adventure mixed with suspense. Definitely a winner.

Interesting plot and unusual witch version any reader would enjoy. The weak point - the characters. The main heroine plays two guys, one of those guys reminds me a five-year-old with his behaviour, but Sage is often no better. All in all - worth attention.
