Alyssa Duncan’s life revolves around books. If not for the fact the town’s playboy Connor Phillips has a secret reading addiction, she most likely wouldn’t be on his radar…or his friend. The two personalities just don’t mesh…or do they? She gets a chance to find out when a book-reading bet leads to dinner. Alyssa experiences a wide a range of emotions. She’s elated her beyond-friendship feelings seem returned, but his reputation precedes him. Is she just another gullible female in a string of women? As a relationship begins to develop with Connor, going past the limits of friendship, things grow muddled and complicated when an ex-boyfriend shows up in town and things aren’t what they seem.
When the dust finally settles, will Alyssa find true love with someone or end up with just another friend?
Lacey Wolfe has always had a passion for words, whether it’s getting lost in a book or writing her own. Her goal as an author is to have a romance for everyone, whether it’s sweet, sensual, or spicy. She’s had several books on the Amazon best seller lists. When she isn’t writing, she can be found running, talking to her pets, spending time with her family, or lost in some sort of craft. Oh, and she takes kindly to anyone who feeds her cookies.
Lacey lives in Georgia with her husband, son and daughter, their herd of cats and one black lab who rules the house.
Friends who become lovers, the best kind! A shy book worm and a gorgeous player (who just happens to be a geek in disguise) These two make a pair you can't help but love.
When I'm looking for a "feel good" romance I always know Lacey Wolfe will deliver. I had a horrible day yesterday, so I HAD to buy her new release... and just like I knew it would, it made me smile and gave me the lift I needed.
I first want to thank Ms. Lacey Wolfe for the ARC. I am honored to have read this one before it comes out.
Alyssa is the book store owner in Ms. Wolfe's Brookfield Series. Alyssa learns a secret about Brookfield's playboy, Connor. She has feelings for Connor but doesn't want to ruin their friendship.
Connor has 2 dirty little secrets, but the only one in Brookfield that knows is Alyssa.
What happens when Connor makes a bet with Alyssa? The beginning of these two taking their friendship to another level!
Ms. Wolfe also provided the possibility of another story that is related to this one. Honestly, I can't wait to read it. I hope she writes the story to go with the characters!!
This is the third book in Lacey's Brookfield series, and it might just be my favorite. Alyssa and Conner start the story as just friends, but finish a whole lot more. Lacey adds a little road bump here and there for the couple, an ex-boyfriend, a pair of smooth talking buddies and an insecure heroine, BUT, once they were able to get past the issues, they found that being "Not Just Friends" was more than they could have imagined!
Great job Lacey, and I am looking forward to more in this series!
Updated Review: A Tasty Read Book Reviews
If you haven't read ANY of the Brookfield Series by Lacey Wolfe, I suggest you read them ALL, but if you can ONLY read ONE....I say "NOT JUST FRIENDS"!
NOT JUST FRIENDS was my favorite of the three and I am so thrilled that Alyssa finally has her HEA! And with her good friend, Conner, no less! Sometimes life just happens that way, friendships turn to love, and you get to marry your best friend...Even if he used to be quite the playboy!!
Alyssa and Connor have both had mutual crushes on each other for quite some time, but neither has wanted to say anything and ruin the great "friendship" they have going on. Alyssa has had her fair share of heart-break in the past and is not looking to be hurt again, and if she lost Connor as a friend and boyfriend, she would be crushed. But Connor is seeing things differently and he wants a shot with Alyssa, and it doesn't seem like he is taking no for an answer, or letting any other men get ahead of him in line!
Lacey adds a bit of flare and drama here and there to keep the story moving and to keep us on our toes, hoping that Alyssa and Connor will have their Happily Ever After, and boy, did I not see some of that "Drama" coming...Prepared to be SHOCKED!! Reading NOT JUST FRIENDS was like watching my favorite Soap!
And we got to catch up with old friends from FINDING HOME and BARE NECESSITIES, so it's a win win!!
Check out NOT JUST FRIENDS, you won't be disappointed!!
I don't know if I would have picked this up if I was not part of the tour on my own but in the end I was glad that I got to read and I have already bought and read the first part of the series and will gladly read more in this series.
This is a sweet small town series where the book nerd that all of us book lovers can relate too gets the man of her dreams....the unattainable player.
It's nice to have the player fall for the bookish babe and find her inner beauty and true self. I love the fact that Alyssa takes him off his regular game and flusters him. It makes their relationship feel more real for some reason.
Alyssa may be independent but she also comes with a bit of baggage but with Conner she starts to be an even stronger version of herself and sticks up for her and stops letting people walk all over her like her sister which whom I did not like but by the end she started to grow on my and I can't wait to find out what happens to her when she moves back to Brookfield.
This book was part of a blog tour I received a copy for my honest review
Alyssa is a shy book lover, Connor is the playboy and secretly a geek in secret. The two of them are friends, when they have dinner together things begin to change and they begin to have something more. Ex-boyfriends and reputations threaten to rip this couple apart. Can the two of them stay together or will they end up staying friends? I loved this book, Alyssa was sweet, smart and her being shy was cute. Connor was a really good man while his reputation as a playboy had me not wanting to like him, I found myself rooting for this geek in disguise. The twists and bumps in their romance added some spice and conflict to the story. Not Just Friends was a feel good light romance with some naughtiness thrown in. I loved this book and will have to go back and read the first two while I wait for the next one in the series to come out.
Not Just Friends is the 3rd book in the Brookfield series. It can be read as a stand alone book but isn't it always more fun to read all the books to get to know the other characters?? :-)
Alyssa's life consists of taking care of her bookstore, then going home to her cat & tv dinners. Connor is very rich & has quite the social life but is hiding a very big part of him. The only one who knows the secret part of his life is Alyssa. Alyssa believes that Connor only likes her as a friend because how could such a handsome man find her attractive??
A reading challenge between the two friends starts them both on a road that they both could only dream about.
I absolutely loved the chemistry between the two characters. They had a special "friendship" bond from the very beginning of the story. And of course who wouldn't have a crush on a very handsome & rich man??? Connor was such a down to earth person, even though he could have all the luxuries in the world. He accepted Alyssa for who she was but wanted to treat her to the things in life that she deserved.
There was even a twist in the story that will keep the reader turning the pages. It was a ""whoa....really??" scene.
I have to admit that there was "reading challenge" scene that had me laughing out loud. You will too and trust me you will most definitely know what scene I am referring to. lol
The other three books in the series are
Finding Home Bare Necessities
Pick up all three books and enjoy an afternoon of reading. You will not be sorry. This was by far my favorite book in the series but trust me, they are all fabulous stories
Alyssa owns the local book store and knows all of her customers by name. She is a very sweet and friendly face in town. Alyssa spends all of her time working and that hasn't gone unnoticed. Connor has a secret addiction to reading and frequents the store quite often, however, its not only for books. He has had his mind and eyes on Alyssa for a few years now.
Connor isn't sure how to let Alyssa to know he wants to be more than friends so starts with a friendly bet involving something she can't refuse, a book!
Just when everything seems to be going great for these 2, Alyssa's ex boyfriend shows up and NOTHING is what it seems to be. There are some very interesting twists and turns with this ex that she never saw coming.
When all is said and done, you will love how this book ends. I fell in love with Connor from the very beginning and I am sure you will too!
A bookworm after my own heart! Alyssa is living my dream of running a bookstore. She has always had a crush on the town badboy Connor and is delighted everytime she sees him. Connor is intrigued with the feelings that Alyssa inspire in him and would love to get to know her better. A simple bet starts them down the path. I like Cody and think there is a story there as well. Lacey has a way of dragging you into the lives of the characters she creates. Diane is a self absorbed little witch but you ache a little for her and wonder what happened to make her that way. Matt is an ass that needs to be smacked but the humor of that whole situation, well you just need to read the book.
This is #3 in Lacey Wolfe's Brookfield series. I hadn't read any of the other books from the series, but this didn't pose a problem at all. Wolfe did a great job of creating realistic characters in realistic situations. When Connor made his feelings known to Alyssa, I found myself doubting his intentions right along with her. The fact that I could relate to a fictional character in this way is one of the things that I liked about this book. Based on this, I am eager to read some of the other books in the series!
This has been my favorite book of the series so far! The characters felt real and I could easily connect with them. I also love that Lacey Wolfe weaves characters in and out from the previous books in the series in a creative way so that you get a little insight into what happened after their own stories, it is like an epilogue within a story.
What a super sweet romance with very relatable characters. It was the perfect read for a rainy day. Not only did true love prevail (sorry for the spoiler), but I found myself wanting to be friends with the main characters. This is the first book I have read in this series and I am really looking forward to going back and finding out more about the people who live in Brookfield.
Having not read any of the Brookfield series, it didn't matter. This book seemed to stand alone. It was a sweet romance showing a love blossom between two friends. I love these kinds of stories. The person who's your best friend becoming the one you love.. they just leave you feeling good and happy. Though a quick read, it was still sweet and enjoyable to read!
While I have enjoyed the rest of the Brookfield books this one was a bit lacking. The main characters of Alyssa and Conner and their story is really good but the backstory of Alyssa's sister is just weird and pulls away from the main plot.
I really enjoyed that Connor got Alyssa to go out with him on a bet and how he had to work to make her see it was more than a bet to him. Alyssa was such an all around nice girl and you couldn't help but like her. Their story was so sweet.
For me personally, it wasn't much of a story, just some material put together to bring her sister forth in the next novel I'm thinking. It was like a prelude with little I was interested in.
