What’s Left of Us is a story about how tragedy effects us all differently. A story about love, friendship, and second chances.

Calla Jensen is starting her freshman year of college. She always thought she would have her two best friends by her side, Beck and Asher. But it’s just her. Ever since everything in her life fell apart, she’s been alone. She doesn’t make new friends. She hasn’t been able to move on from her past. She would give anything to go back in time and change things, to say something, to make a different choice. But it’s too late for that.

 photo f26398f4-975e-4e0e-aefd-762d8af0687e_zps2b7b05c9.jpg

Calla gets to school, and thankfully has a friendly and sweet roommate who befriends her. When she takes her to a campus event, Calla runs into someone from her past. Someone important that she hasn’t seen in a long time. These two running into each other is hard at first, but ultimately a good thing. It forces both of them to face the past. Face each other. Face the one thing that tore them apart.

I loved that the book was written in alternating p.o.v’s. We got Calla’s perspective from the present, and the male perspective from the past. I really liked reading the past p.o.v best. Getting into his head and seeing what led up to the big thing was nice. Calla’s relationships with her two best friends were so different. One friend was truly just a friend. Someone who took her under his wing when she was young and their friendship grew so strong. The other has been in love with her for the longest time. Some things in the end felt a little rushed to me. There was such a great build up, then things seemed to come together so quickly at the end. I have to point out that I read a beta version, so the ending may not be as rushed for the rest of you ;)

What’s Left of Us is kind of a NA/Christian Romance. Just a heads up to readers who like their books steamy, you won’t get much of that here. But if you’re looking for a well written story that’s a bit unpredictable, has heart, forgiveness, love and healing, pick this one up. It may be the book for you!

This novel was unique. It was a big "Wow, thank you for writing it, Michele, thank. you" .
Truth is, I’ve been struggling with reading these YA/NA books for months, because I couldn’t find a good one even if it fell out of the sky at my feet. No kidding. I read many of them, rated them 3 or 2 stars and moved on. I’m not being difficult here, I’m trying to be sincere. They were all the same. Same pattern, same routine.
One day a friend of mine told me about this novel. “What do you think?” she said, “I would like to learn more,” I replied.
Was I being skeptical? Well, maybe a bit.
Then I put aside my prejudices and I read Calla’s story.I was so so so happy the author proved me wrong.
This novel is a piece of honesty wrapped up in a pretty bow.
It talks about a girl, two boys and a once in a lifetime friendship that will never die. It talks about what happens when life keeps testing you. When it keeps hitting you.

What would you do?

Once upon a time Calla, Ash and Beckham shared a beautiful friendship, full of laughters and happiness. They shared ten years of memories and dreams. Ten years . Until the day everything fell apart.
Beck left. And Calla stayed behind, picking up what was left of them.

While reading that scene I was like “What would I do if a piece of me would be missing? What kind of lengths would I go to for him?

I felt Calla’s pain and regret with my own heart. She made me cry. A lot.
“I love you Calla, but I miss you. You have tried to push everyone away, including yourself. You have to heal yourself, I can’t do that for you.”

I kept reading about her new life, new goals, still wondering where he went. She felt him everywhere she looked at and it was poignant seeing her struggling *day in, day out* with his absence.
Because I realized then, that certain people carve a hole in our chest so deep we cannot recover it from.
Some moments go on forever in our heart even after they’re over. Because they’re our memories and they belong to us.
“Haven’t you figured it out yet?”
“Figured out what?”
“That I’m still just as crazy for you now, as I was then,” he said.

Ash was an amazing character I will never forget. Never. He told the whole story with such a raw honesty and regret, it made me guess until the very end.
I won’t spoil this book for you. You have to read it.
There will be no sex, I have to warn you.
This book takes place in a college (present days) but it doesn’t explore that side of a relationship. It’s a plot driven novel, not a steamy NA novel.
Read it. Let the author take you on this amazing roller coaster. Experience what they went through. You won’t regret it.

OOooo I love the sound of this book!!

"It’s been a year since I've last seen him, and from the daggers he’s sending my way, I can tell that a year was nowhere near long enough for him."

My Review: (copy provided)
5 Stars!

Let me start off by saying that I wasn't sure how to feel about a Christian romance and I can honestly say I don't know if I've ever read one. Well this book is so well done, please do not let the genre detour you from reading this, it was a beautiful story.

I believe we all find our own ways to heal and more than it being God or our heroine's (Calla) beliefs she needed to find strength within herself too. The element of Christianity is there but it's subtle and not thrown in your face.

I loved the innocence of the characters too. You don't find that too much in a romance novel, especially with the men, so it was a nice change of pace.

I found this book to be very emotional, I'll write a little about it. Calla (h) is trying to move on but can't, she has lost faith in herself and God and can't heal. While in college her roommate drags her out and she runs into the one person she never thought she would see or talk to again Beck (H). He was her best friend but it was all lost because of one event, and that event destroyed everything.

I thought this book was going to be a love triangle but it wasn't and the best thing about the story to me was seeing both the H and h heal. It wasn't instantaneous and they wanted to heal each other. They were sad, hurt and angry but wanted to help each other overcome it. There was a huge element of surprise in this book...WOW I was not expecting it and it left me in tears. I remember exactly when I read it too because I was on my treadmill and had to stop my work out to compose myself. I loved the secondary characters and I think you will fall in love with Calla's friend Parker, he may have been my favorite.

This was a wonderful book it made me think and made me very emotional. This is more than a romance, it is about faith, trust, and finding yourself. I won't say healing because I think I've written that enough. ;) Don't expect steamy sex scenes because this book isn't that type of story.

I highly recommend.

This book is wonderful! The characters are easy to relate to and the story keeps you guessing. I was lucky enough to read this before it went to the editor and I absolutely loved it!

The characters of Asher and Beck are great. They are best friends and they both go through some pretty epic changes (which I won't share because I don't want to give away any of the story).

Enter Calla or Cal for short. She is the new girl in the neighborhood and she quickly befriends Ash and Beck. The three of them are inseparable. Of course being friend with two boys is going to lead to some drama, but that's just the tip of the ice berg.

Honestly, I wasn't prepared for this book. The story took me by surprise and the emotion involved just blew me away.

What's Left of Us is a Christian novel; however, be advised that religion and religious beliefs are NOT shoved down your throat. This is a great book about a group of friends that endure a tragedy and through the help of their religious beliefs manage to come out whole on the other side.

Give this debut novel by this talented new author a shot. You won't be disappointed.

What's left of us
This is a new adult novel. I loved how the author was bold and used prayer, God and church. not to many authors do. I loved it. It was nice to read a good clean book.

We get the story from Calla, Beck and Asher's views. They have been the best of friends since grade school. We know something happened to tear them apart but what it was we don't learn till out 75-80% of the way through. I thought I knew what it was but boy I was wrong. Even though it took us a while to learn the truth I was pulled in to the book and the author did a great job of holding my interest.
After finding out the truth it explained a lot of Callie's anxieties and why her loved ones told her to move on.
My heart hurt for All three of them. I cried like ugly cried when the truth was revealed. It was so not what I was expecting.
This is a must read.

This was the first time I have ever read anything by this author but I am so very happy I did. This book really surprised me. The POV of Ash and Calla, but I loved how Beck was always there in both of their POV's.
I loved the friendship these 3 friends had since they were 7 years old. When Calla moves into the next door to Ash and on the first day of school walks with Calla to school and stop at Beck's house to get him. The 3 were instant friends and it warmed my own heart remembering those days.
I really loved this book. It was fantastic. It did take me into an emotional ride. I cried for awhile. I laughed and giggled. It was a really good book and I loved how it came together.
I recommend this book. It's just beautiful.

A year ago their lives were changed forever.

Calla Jensen, a college freshman at University of Alabama, can’t move on. Her loss of faith in God, and in herself, has her frozen and stagnant. But time doesn't stop for any one, and no matter how much she fights it, making new friends and leaving her past behind is inevitable.

When her college roommate drags her to an event on campus, she doesn't expect to come face to face with the person whose life she almost ruined. Old wounds open up and together they must come to terms with the events that led to three best friends being torn apart.

But Calla has been keeping something back, and it could destroy the fragile ties she is slowly building back with the people she loves. Can faith be renewed and can God help her heal?

What happened the day everything fell apart?

My Thoughts

When I started to read this book I had no idea what to think, I went in blind so to speak.. Soon I was consumed by the friendship and lives of Beck, Ash and Calla.. It was a beautiful friendship that had blossomed into more.

The writing style and POV really intrigued me, the way the different POV both were building up to an event that had changed all their lives forever with no going back. I found myself trying to figure out what had happened before we got there.. even just thinking made my heart miss a beat.. The Characters really grew on me and their emotions were overwhelming.

The event.. Well I don't want to spoil anything but I just couldn't keep my emotions in. I sobbed! Big ugly crying tears. The whole build up, reaction of characters, and actions all made sense, all clicking together like the missing piece of a puzzle. Once revealed I did wonder how they would ever over come the past to move on with the future, it seemed an impossible task..

Michele Tucker pulled it off.. gave us an ending which we were itching to see. Even after I read and finished this book, my thoughts were still all caught up with Beck, Calla and Asher.. This book will be one I speak of a while to come :)

What's Left of Us - Michelle Tucker

Once again I find myself having difficulty in reviewing this book. Not because I am unsure as to how to rate it but, rather, my problem is how to review the book without giving away any spoilers. I absolutely hate spoilers!

For the record, this is an easy five stars.

This story begins with Calla preparing to set off for college a full year after the "incident" - at this point the reader has no idea what the incident is – and so the book begins in the middle of the story. We then go back and forth in the timeline between the present and learning Calla's back story as told through her and her two best friends Asher and Beck who's lives have been intertwined since the age of seven. Following the incident, in transpires that lies were told and assumptions made, thus ensuring that Calla feels completely isolated. As the story unfolds, it builds the intrigue as to what could possibly have happened to destroy such friendships.

Once in college a familiar face from her past forces Calla to face her demons and confess her secrets.

This is a YA read with strong Christian beliefs therein. It is a tale of friendship, heartbreak, love, loss and loyalty. The highs and lows of friendship will give you some laughs and bring a smile to your face as you recall your own youth. However, and a very rare thing indeed for me, the heartbreak within this story actually did have me shedding a tear and forced me to continue reading whilst nursing a lump in my throat.

All that said, the book is certainly not perfect and I did feel some of the issues were resolved just a little too easily. Yet, as a debut author, I have to give her my admiration for the suspense and intrigue she created, safe in the knowledge that she can learn and grow as a writer. The ending of the book hints at the possibility of another story to develop and I can only hope that Michelle Tucker writes Parker’s story.

I, for one, will be waiting to download it.

Have you ever just been at the point of giving up? In God? In love? On family or friends? Anything? I think we've all been there at some point. Just ready to give up on something or someone we previously had so much faith in. And for so many reasons. Michele Tucker makes the point so obvious in What's Left of Us. It's so easy to believe in something when everything is going right, going the way you want it it to go...but when things are tough, we give up so easily. We get angry at the wrong people or just angry in general. We lose our way and sometimes, it's so hard to come back.

It's refreshing to read something that reminds me that it's okay to be angry for a minute or okay to maybe question life for a minute...but in the end, I need to remember what it is I believe in and come back to that. This is the lesson I learned from What's Left of Us.

I want to say so much more but I'm afraid doing so will give away the story too much and I would never want to ruin it for anyone! The way this story is written and laid out for you is done so in a way that keeps you guessing, keeps you on your toes and wanting more until the very end. Michele does a beautiful job of telling the story her heart needed to tell. I can only hope What's Left of Us touches you as much as it touched me.

This book was given to me by the author for an honest review. This is a heart warming story about love and friendship, loosing faith and finding it again. Calla and Asher and Beck are all best friends since childhood. I loved how Michele showed past and present so you got to know the characters better. I really connected with the characters of this story and their heartbreak to the point it had me in tears. This book is about how different friends deal with loss through faith. Some give up on God while others find healing from Him. I would definitely recommend this book to others and I'm so glad I got the chance to read it.

This is a beautiful story of friendship, heartbreak, and love. Be warned - this book totally had me in tears - so, ya might want to grab a tissue or two.
I loved the characters and their interaction with one another. I loved following their lives from childhood into adulthood and seeing the character's growth throughout their experiences. I felt Author Michele Tucker totally captured each character uniquely and did a great job of staying true to
each one.
If you're looking for a sweet, well-written, uplifting love story- I HIGHLY recommend you one-click this! You won't be disappointed.

I couldn't put it down. It was a heartbreaking and heart healing read. Friends for life, that was Ash, Beck and Calla when you saw one you would find the others. Plans to go to college, and small adventures were talked about and planned, but you know what they say about the best laid plans. Nothing more true could be said about these three. When one ends up going another direction and the group is broken up causing pain, guilt and rifts so deep.

This Book Left me Speechless. It was a full emotional roller coaster ride. It's a Story of three childhood best friends whose life changes in a moment and all their life is ruined in a second. Their Friendship is shattered into Pieces but there is a Big Secret behind this which can either completely mend them or break them more.

I Really Loved Michele Tucker's Writing. It was Simple, Amazing full of emotions. Would Definitely recommend it to everyone <3

I loved this book! I'm not a Christian romance reader but I really enjoyed this book. Calla and Beck have became strangers over the past year because of a horrible accident. But in order to move on, they have to forgive themselves. I like dual POV's and honestly my only complaint (I complain about this in most books) is the waiting til 70% to tell me what happened in the past. I'd prefer it up front, but that's just me.

YA Christian romance. My first read by this author, but not my last read. It begins as a YA following through life together until marriage. The storyline deals with drugs and loss of friends, but true lobe prevails. I really like the characters and ending with an unseen twist. I was given an ARC for an honest opinion.

Calla (Cal) Jensen has been lifelong best friends with Asher Cohen and Beckham (Beck) Weston. The three were nearly inseparable, bonding over their love of all things baseball, until a serious accident splits them apart. Beck moves away and Ash stops talking to her, and she’s left alone to deal with the pieces. Now Cal has to start her freshman year of college without her two best friends. She’s secluded herself from everyone who matters, including God, and blames herself for what happened. What Cal doesn’t understand is that, what happened isn’t her fault and even though she’d like to take the credit, she can’t really go on with her life until she sees everything for what it really is. This becomes abundantly clear when Beck shows up at the same college they’ve always talked about going to, ready to pick up things where they were left. Can she face the fire and finally deal with the truth of what really happened? Or will she let her one mistake keep her from the one she loves?

The reason I’m only giving this book 4 stars is the editing. There were numerous instances where thoughts were not completed grammatically or that the sentence just seemed to be awkwardly structured. It wasn’t enough to not understand what the author meant, but enough for me to really see that there is room for growth in proper use of punctuation and some sentence structuring.

I love how Michele keeps you engaged, though, with the suspense of wanting to know what happened to Cal’s friends, Asher and Beck. You know it has to be something big if it has messed up her plans for her future, but I didn’t see what actually happened coming at all. I love the dynamic she constructed between the trio and the buildup in the relationships between Cal and Beck leaves you yearning for some kind of HEA, however you can get it. Also, Michele does a fantastic job of really depicting how sometimes, we just need to let go of the “what ifs” and let God work His magic in healing us.

I will say that for a series, Michele does a great job wrapping up Cal’s story, neatly tying the loose ends without leaving any cliffhangers. Overall, the story outweighed the grammatical issues and was well worth the read.
