Maia’s been banished to Earth from her place among the stars as the eldest sister of Pleiades... and all because Orion won’t stop chasing her around the universe. Now Maia has to find her way back to the stars with only the help of hunky astronautics scientist Zander while staying hidden from Orion.
Zander never expected the discovery of his lifetime to fall into his lap, but when Maia also falls into his bed, he knows there’s no way he can turn the goddess who has stolen his heart into a science project. With his best friend ready to sell him out for fame, her wannabe lover Orion chasing after her on Earth, and time running out fast, Zander must fight to keep Maia safe long enough to get her home.
If going home means losing Zander, is Maia ready to go back to the stars?

CATCHING STARDUST, by author Heather Thurmeier, is a delightful story of cosmic proportions! The fast-paced plot follows one of the Pleiades sisters whose been banished to Earth for reasons unknown. Add into the mix the scientist’s nosy best friend, an otherworldly suitor who’s hell-bent on courting the heroine and a smattering of powerful Greek gods and you’ve got a story that will keep you up late into the night reading. Ms. Thurmeier’s writing style is so clean and fresh it will keep you turning pages and wishing for more. I can’t wait for the next book in this series to release!
If you’re looking for a fun contemporary romance with hints of the otherworldly, CATCHING STARDUST is definitely the story for you!
***I was given an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I am a huge fan of Heather’s and was excited to read this novel. This is the first in the Falling Stars series and I am stoked about that! I like Greek Mythology but I wasn’t sure how the whole astronomy thing was going to work for me. I worried for nothing. This is a fabulous read that tells the story of two well-developed characters falling in love. I tended to forget that Maia is not exactly normal and there were a few obstacles to work through. I thought having Orion chasing after her was awesome and Zander was just yummy. This was a different style of book and I like that I was given something unique to read. I will be anxiously awaiting the next book!
Maia has got some problems. Teleported to earth by her father Atlas and Zeus, Maia is forced to survive in New York City with only a grass stained dress and a horrific looking pink zebra bag to aid her. You see, Maia is that Maia, the eldest sister of the Pleiades- you know the ones being chased for eternity across the sky by Orion.
When she is befriended by Zander, an astrophysicist that seems to have the physique of a Greek God himself, passionate sparks begin to fly. Now Maia is in real trouble- she has to deal with Orion, a persistent psycho brute from the stars, finding a way home, and her growing passionate love for this earth-bound hunk. It’s enough to make anyone’s head spin.
Overall Impressions:
Overall this is a fun read. The interaction between Zander and Maia is bright and feisty, and the banter is refreshingly realistic. Also, seeing characters like Zeus, Atlas and Electra depicted as flawed, such as having a completely horrendous fashion sense like Zeus does was a great twist on their normal personas. Plus, the action scenes and the sex scenes were well placed, and actually made sense within the story line.
If I had a criticism it would be that the plot line felt a bit lopsided at times. The first third of the book was rather dull when it came to action, but once I got past that section, everything happened at a pretty fast and furious pace. Now, I’m all for a slow burning build up- absolutely love it in fact. However, it seemed that the author felt pressured in the last half of the book to get all the action in by a specific word count or page number. It seemed a bit more rushed than necessary.
If you like seeing vibrant interaction between the characters in your story, and a refreshing take on an age old story, this is a great choice. It’s definitely one to add to your collection.

Heather Thumeier reminds me why I love the romance genre with the first book in her Falling Stars series. Not only is the relationship between her two main characters hot, hot, hot, it is just an all around good read. This book took back to my teenage years of sneaking my stepmother's romance novels into my school books for heading to class.
We all grew up studying mythology at some point. But those stories of Greek gods and goddesses are simply that, stories, aren't they? Well, Thurmeier has crafted a world in which the Seven Sisters are really living among the stars, at least until Orion's unwanted affections send Maia tumbling to Earth. I loved the way Thurmeier was able to weave the ancient myths into modern culture, leaving you wondering what is really out there among the starry skies.
Even better than the unique take on modern mythology is her main characters. I love that Maia and Zander are perfectly imperfect. Maia is fiesty, headstrong but vulnerable and soft. Zander is driven, rich but sweet and unsure of himself.
Romance blossoms quickly, but is naturally filled with conflict. Talk about being from two different worlds. Still, sometimes the best couples emerge from situations that feel simply impossible. They are star-crossed, but Catching Stardust is nothing short of hopeful. Romance lovers are sure to want to stand behind is core message: love, true love, really can conquer all.
I also really enjoyed Thurmeier's writing style. Her book felt almost like having a conversation with an old friend, simple yet beautiful. Catching Stardust is designed to be read quickly and devoured completely. Isn't that the best thing about a good romance novel? They are like the perfect desserts of the literary world. That's probably why I keep coming back for more. Also, I am sure to be checking out the rest of the Falling Stars series.

Maia is on Earth for reasons that are not her fault. All because Orion doesn't want to take no for an answer. She just wants to get back to her home. What she doesn't expect is to fall for the good-looking scientist Zander. While she hides from Orion, Zander and Maia grow closer. Maia knows it will never work between them. What she fears is if she does make it home she will leave her heart behind on Earth.
Maia is fantastic! A Goddess who is strong, sweet and sexy. She has remarkably beautiful eyes but doesn't seem to show just how special she is. I love reading about her. Zander is the sexy scientist you secretly hope there is more of out their in the world outside of books. He is super nice, smart and he sure can sizzle up the pages. Orion is a jerk out for his own gain and you just know you are not going to like him from the word go.
I loved this book. Gives a different spin on Gods and Goddesses that I loved reading about. The book will suck you in and have you wanting more of it. Maia tries her best to hide what she is and fight the attraction to Zander. They have such great chemistry together and you keep hoping as you read this will be the chapter it finally happens for them. I have never been real big on stars and such but this book made me want to look things up about the stars in our sky. The book isn't only about love it has a good plot and is an excellent start to a series. I can not wait to read the other sisters stories and to see what happens with Maia and Zander.
Book Review- Catching Stardust by Heather Thurmeier
This book was difficult for me to get into. The main character Maia was abandoned on Earth by Zeus for unknown reasons and with the inability to get back home until he allowed it. Her reaction to her situation didn’t seem to align with what I would expect. I would have been furious and you would have felt that in my actions and thoughts. Maia was mad but the way it was written, I had a hard time believing it. Maia is the eldest sister of Pleiades and the object of Orion’s obsession. Orion has plans for her. So she loses her place among the stars and ends up on Earth for an unexpected visit. Her father, Atlas, and Zeus decide it is the safest place for her. They cut off all contact so she is unable to call home. On her first night there she meets Zander who is an astronautics scientist and is instantly drawn to him. She fights her attraction to him but at times not well. He finds her intriguing and she shares an interest in the stars. Zander knows he has met someone special. Of course the truth, of who Maia is, comes out and when he finds out the truth, he refuses to allow Jude to turn her into a science study. When Orion teams up with Jude, the chase is on as Maia and Zander make a run for it. This book was not one of my favorites. I had a hard time getting into the characters. The plot was interesting but I felt that the author could have added more depth to the characters. It was too full of fluff for me. Many of you may enjoy it, but I only give it 2 out of 5 books.
I have to say that I really enjoyed this free read. I've read other stories from HT and loved them. This was just as good and the beginning of a series. I hope there are more to come. This had a good plot, just enough spice and good characters to care about.
I really had fun reading this book! As a mythology fan, I found this book to be an interesting new take on the established mythos. It was a joy to read and I would definitely recommend this book!
