This leads Dahlia to discover who she really is, for she is more than just human. With this newfound knowledge, and the elements suddenly fighting against her, she finds it hard to trust anyone. And as she finally awakens and comes to grips with the power she possesses, she fights to stay alive.

Dahlia is the protagonist in this book, she's an orphan who has lived with foster family to foster family never able to fit in and has no memory prior that of being five, scars down her back from an unknown accident and a very life-like dream featuring a wolf and lots of blood.
All Dahlia knows is she's different but upon settling in with her new foster family where she actually feels somewhat welcome thanks to the help of her foster-brother Sam, she starts to focus on living a normaly teenage life, she attends school for the first time and after many years of homeschooling its not exactly as easy as one plus one, on the plus side she manages to make some form of friendships thanks to Sam and she even attends a regular high school party. Kind of. The thing is, whilst she is attempting to live a regular day to day life, weird or unexplainable things just keep happening and this is basically how the book goes until half way through, it isn't until half way through when we actually get some answers and that left me feeling rather impatient with the book, it kept hinting at something and then we'd get a tiny step closer to being more aware of Dahlia's weird life and then woosh, we're flown five steps backwards. It got a little annoying. Luckily though, I felt once we we're in on exactly what the hell was happening, the rest of the book was a lot more enjoyable and face paced though I must point out the book I read prior to this was a very fast paced roller coaster that left me with whiplash so maybe the first half of this book wasn't as slow as I'm making out ...I am a very impatient person at times though.
The reason for Dahlia's odd experiences and encounters is all down to the fact she's half fallen angel and half vampire. I know, pretty interesting right? They have fancier names and a great back story too. Anyway, she's the only one of her kind and because of this some fallen angels want to kill her for being tainted with vampire blood, and others want to keep her alive just until a certain date to perform a ritual to help free their big boss, so Dahlia finds herself slap bang in the middle knowing that at some point she may end up dead, luckily she doesn't have to worry about this by herself because we have Greyson, a fellow fallen angel, to help her out, he's the Prince Charming in the story, only he's a little more bad ass and mysterious, and him falling for her isn't what he's supposed to do of course which makes their romance a little more interesting.
Of course Dahlia doesn't end up dead - but don't think there isn't a trail of dead bodies left behind, because there is! You may need a tissue or two - and this leaves her and Greyson to fight another day. It ends on a little bit of a cliff-hanger, setting the scene for the sequal which I would be very interested in reading because I think these characters and this world has so much potential know the explaining is all out of the way. I really recommend this book too!

I received these books from the author in exchange for an honest review.

Dahlia is book one in The Blood Crave Series. This series has something for everyone: fallen angels, vampire-like beings, familiars, and of course humans oblivious to the magical chaos surrounding them. Main character Dahlia, has been in an orphanage or foster care since she was five and has no memories of her life prior to that. When she moves in with a new foster family, her dreams for a normal life fly out the window.

The novel opens with Dahlia and her rather creepy memories as a child. She knew she wasn't normal, and everyone around her sensed her strangeness, so of course the poor girl never fit in anywhere. I'm not sure if finally finding out the reason why helped her or made everything harder. Dahlia doesn't know who to trust, and neither does the reader as we navigate the story. It would be hard not to have sympathy for Dahlia. I can't imagine how difficult it would be to know you were different from everyone else and not know why.

Since this is a first book in a series, there is quite a lot of world building, which hits about halfway through in the form of a major info dump. It's easy for the reader to understand Dahlia's confusion since we receive the information at the same time she does. The second half of the novel is one revelation after another. It was enough to make my head spin, but it also made for some rather exciting reading. Even with the massive amount of information during the last half of the story, there's still so much left to the imagination. I'm sure many answers will be presented in the later books.

At the very end, the reader is told that the bad guys (not sure at this point if they are bad or merely bad for Dahlia's health) are now looking for Rowan. Fortunately for us, we can learn much more about Rowan and why the baddies are after her in the novella Fallen Tears. This story takes place between Dahlia and book two Rowan, and gives some background about Rowan and her life story.

I found the plot line of Dahlia to be rather intriguing, and I do like the fallen angel aspect. Being a first book, prepare for a cliffhanger at the end, and of course to have more questions than answers. If you like urban fantasy/paranormal, consider adding The Blood Crave Series to your TBR list. I recommend it to ages 15+ due to graphic violence and mature content.

Dahlia, by Debut author, Christina Channelle introduces us to a young girl, Dahlia Winters, who has never felt right in her own skin. From early in her memories, Dahlia has felt a presence watching her as she fumbled through a life fraught with loneliness and instability. As a young child in an orphanage, Dahlia never fit in. She failed to adjust to foster care until one family took her in as a teenager and began to break through her armor. At the same time strange things began to happen to Dahlia more and more. Injuries healed almost immediately, people would seem to read her mind, popping up an disappearing as if never there. Finally, an incredibly handsome young man tells her a fantastical story of her birth, tells her what she is and warns her of her fatal date with destiny. The scars that run down her back are explained, her desire for blood is explained, her ability to heal quickly is explained, but she is a pawn in an ancient quest for freedom and immortality. Who can she trust? Where can she run?

Christina Channelle has created a tortured heroine in Dahlia who I immediately felt for. After building Dahlia's world, the story took off well with equal parts mystery and action, as Dahlia find she must run for her life and decide who is trustworthy. A great start to a new series!

I read Christina's contemporary novella Those Four Letter Words first and absolutely loved her writing style, so I decided to read her Blood Crave series too. I am so so so glad I did. Her books are very well written and just outright beautiful.

I wish I could give this book 500,000 stars! It was a different take on vampires and fallen angels that will really just suck you in from the very first page.

Dahlia is by far the best paranormal book that I've read in a very long time. The main character, Dahlia, is a very strong, well developed main character. While reading this book, I was just like 'Oh, please, just let everything end okay for her!' Which is rare for me. I'm usually very numb to main characters.

My favorite character was Dahlia's foster brother Sam. He was cute and fun and brought a lightness to the book. I'm also a sucker for hot older brothers in books. :)

Greyson was a superb love interest. He wasn't all dark and brooding and determined to kill Dahlia like most love interests in paranormal books are (which is really good to see in a book). Plus, he was hot. And he had green eyes and that = LOVE in my world.

Major thumbs up to the author for writing an awesome novel!

Dahlia...oh, Dahlia. A VERY interesting take on vampires and their origins. This is the beginning to what will be a great series, I am sure. This is the foundation novel: we get to know Dahlia, we're introduced to Greyson, we're learning the background of everything. So this book is a little slow in that there isn't a rapid jump into action. It is more of a discovery journey, something that a lot of series lack.

Without giving away what she is, for I really hate spoilers, let's just say that her counterparts that introduce her to what she is are the epitome of the bad sides of human. Jealousy, anger, hatred, prejudice, violence. And Dahlia is just a young, teenage girl trying to deal with this all.

There are a few paranormal/fantasy themes here that Ms Channelle blended together really well in my opinion. I enjoyed the book and look forward to the rest of the series.

Dahlia is available on amazon.com and the prequel/sidestory, "Fallen Tears", novella is also available and will detail the story of Rowan, someone introduced to the reader at the end of the first novel.

I adore the world that the author created in this novel. It is a very complex situation that was created in this novel, fraught with ancient enemies and lies from those closest to the main character. Battle lines have been drawn for centuries, yet the girl who is the key to it all seems less than aware of what is to come. Beautiful, intricate, and complicate can describe the problems that are faced by the main character. But it is just the beginning. One battle does not win the war.

Dahlia by Christina Channelle tells the story of a girl, Dahlia, who has always been different but refuses to believe it. After being shipped from foster home to foster home and then back to the orphanage, she is tired of all of the change and never feeling like she can call a place home. This foster home seems different though. The parents are not put out by her off-putting responses when she first arrived and the son seems to only want to be her friend. How can she even begin to trust them? Once she trusts them, she'll tell the truth and that will for sure get her sent back to the orphanage but maybe that's better than being in limbo. It's her first time ever staying at a foster home long enough to be enrolled in high school -- a prospect that is both thrilling and frightening. This is where her life seems to only get more complicated. A guy keeps appearing, telling her secrets that seem crazy to say the least and disappears in the blink of an eye. Who is he? Or rather, what is he? His eyes seem to glow and he knows about the scars on her back, something she never showed anyone before. He seems to know her better than herself. Now, she must face her fate and the fact that people out there want her dead. Will she survive until the end of the book? Can she be rescued from a fate that seems to predict her death? Who can she trust?

Dahlia reminds me a lot of a scared animal captured from the wild. She constantly backs herself into a corner, never trusting anyone especially the hand that feeds her and preferring to use claws instead of kindness. I understand her wariness around people that she feels she cannot trust because I think it is something a lot of people can relate to in the end. There is always people who we cannot trust whether it is because of an instinct or a reaction built over time. It was wonderful to see her get out of her comfort zone and try to make friends, forcing herself to at least pretend for a moment that she can trust them. She has a hard time believing that anyone could possibly care about her beyond a pay check or the things she has. I love the fact that she wants to be normal but I love her more for the fact that she slowly comes to embrace her nature and who she is. I really admire the fact that she manages to keep a journal because I have always wanted to and never managed to keep it up beyond maybe a week.

Greyson has always been aware of his nature, inheriting his memories from his parents when he was born but instead of having memories that are meant to celebrate, they only weigh him down. His ancestors held ties to an evil man, Merrick, who seems determined to either be set free or bring about the apocalypse. Even if he doesn't believe in the cause that could bring out destruction, he feels that he has to complete his task in order to feel the release of the weight that has followed him all these years. I can understand his need to fulfill the job that his family seemed unable to complete and the weight that he feels is always following him. I think he wishes that it was a different situation once he gets to know Dahlia. He is meant to capture and take her blood for his duty but falling in love with the target was definitely not part of the plan. Unable to stay away from her, he decides to not make it a secret and that only seems to draw more trouble to a girl who already has her life on the line. I like the fact that even if he has to do this because of his family, he hates himself and the cause even more. My heart ached for him as he battled between the two sides of his nature.

Maddox is a sort of partner for Greyson, both of whom are supposed to wait at the sidelines never speaking to the target. He has a deep desire to cause destruction and ruin which makes sense since he is tied to Merrick. I'm sure causing the apocalypse would be a fun pastime for him instead of some horrific possibility like it is for Greyson. I kind of wanted to understand his character more than I actually got to. He seemed like a big teddy bear with a devious side. He definitely could've caused some damage. Ava appeared a little while into the book and seems to be the only one willing to spend time with Dahlia or treat her like a normal person. She consistently makes references to things in her past that freaks Dahlia out while making her all the more curious. She is perhaps the most complex character in the story with so many sides to her that you honestly don't know what one is the true her until the very end.

There is a group of bad guys that I won't name because that would be an epic spoiler and therefore I will only say this: Be careful who you trust. These people are hidden in plain sight and they are most definitely dangerous.

Her foster family is really what a foster family should be. My parents are foster parents for my cousins and sometimes I think they feel the wait of the responsibility on their shoulders. These kids have faced horrific scenarios, so to take them in is kind of like exposing them to a situation that they aren't comfortable with. I see a lot of my parents in Dahlia's foster parents so it made them relatable in a way they wouldn't have been previously. I love the fact that they are so patient and accepting of Dahlia even when she pushes boundaries, daring them to send her back. Sam is also a key player in her comfort zone that is created in this situation. He acts like a pest but he is only trying to get her to respond to him and act like a normal person. I really loved him by the time the book was finished.

It was a wonderful read and I am definitely excited for the sequel!

A new Vampire series called the Blood Crave Series has born and Dahlia is the very first installment of the series.

What an outstanding and inciting start to the Blood Crave series with Dahlia. It just sucked me in right from the very beginning.

The story kicks in with highly detailed character "Dahlia", a orphanage girl living with a foster family (mom, dad and brother).
Each and every character is highly detailed with beautiful and highly refreshing writing style and each emotion is tackled to shear perfection.

At the very beginning we meet Dahlia, a teenage girl with a missing and forgotten past who's character is defined as an irony of shy, unfathomable yet fierce and inherent.
Dahlia possess unknown magical powers of self healing and capturing and commanding the wind to her wish.
Not much of a surprise when we come to know, Dahlia craves for blood (as most of the vampire characters do), but the most striking part is the profound writing and diligent unfolding of story.
Scars on back, cloudy memories, incident with wolf and blood swapping, magic, angels and vampires, all meshing and mixing but in an enticing way that makes the novel highly unpredictable and interesting.

With not much of doldrums, the story proceeds and we come across Sam, the foster brother of Dahlia, who just amazed and made me laugh with his sarcastic yet caring nature towards Dahlia.
Sam seemed totally ignorant of hollering and smoulders of Dahlia, Being himself totally sarcastic and convoluted. (just to mention, he was one of my favorite character of the novel).
I hated how things ended for him though. (Find out yourself)

Then comes few more characters until we reach a two green eyed handsome hunk, who's the most suspenseful character through out the novel.
At times Greyson appeared to be sardonic, at times alluring, at times shuddered and at times indigent.

The most striking and amazing thing about the novel is the totally unpredictable suspense, highly engaging characters, beautifully crafted plot and refreshing storyline.

Dahlia is the foundation of the blood crave series and it's highly intriguing, that it keeps you turning pages and wanting more as the surprises leave you bone chilling.
Every time I predict something and Christina (Author) delivers a punch totally unpredictable and full of ambiguity.
Every time the book felt like a Charade and till the very end I was unsure on which Side I am or which side to trust.

I was just curious that the novel doesn't runs out into erotica or romance at some part, well, it did appear to drift into romance, but just as I went morbid, Christina puts a holds barred to romance and I get more of the thrilling, paranormal and vampire stuff.
Highly Exciting, engaging, captivating, soothe and bone quivering.

Great thrilling action scenes as all the vampire powers come to life and I was glued to my seat swaying back and forth.
Ava was another mysterious character who holds the suspense till the very end.
The merging of Lapsus and Lamina ( Fallen Angels and Vampires) was highly intriguing and beautifully written.

Though I think character of Ava needed a bit more detailing and focus as I was highly intrigued by her mystical behavior but never could understand her completely.
But hey, those are my views and It's still a suspense as Ava's still alive and maybe will be featured in Book 2.
If it goes that way, Then I rate 5/5 for the way Christina detailed Ava, as she kept the suspense, as suspense and unpredictability are the strongest elements that makes the blood crave series highly interesting and intriguing.

I found the story to be medium paced (slow at times) but that holds to the positive aspect of the novel, since The blows and punches Christina delivers every 50 pages is just beyond my prediction.
Hats off to you Christina for writing such an amazing Angel-Vampire debut novel and out passing my expectations. Can't wait to get reading the second novel in Blood Crave series - Rowan.

Without giving much away (to avoid spoilers), I highly encourage you to get the blood crave series as it'll surely be among the famous ones and may run out of prints due to high demand soon.

Received as part of a blog tour! Do drop by @ The Smell of Parchment.

Truth be told I wasn't expecting much from this one. But for a debut, this one's actually good! The premise doesn't let on much.

Dahlia Winter's has always known there was something different about her. One of her earliest memories is the feeling of being watched , she's known this even at the young age of five. She never fit into the foster system until one family decides to take her in and starts breaking her shell. Soon she finds herself amid strange occurrences. People vanishing, healed injuries, cravings for blood. Enter green-eyed hunk who helps her find her way and meet her destiny.

I'll tell you this. This book starts out creepy. Reaallyy creepy. What with her earliest memories and wierd blood swapping incident with the wolf (I'll let you find out about that yourself) . It was an eerie ride.

This is a really interesting take on angels and vampires. That's right. This one has angels, vampires and magic. I was actually able to guess a little with the hints that miss Channelle kept dropping. The scars on her back? I started figuring out the significance pretty soon. And the introduction to the lamia aka vampires? Well yeah kinda got where that was leading to. But I enjoyed reading it nonetheless.

I was initially worried when all these elements started meshing together. Hoping this wouldn't be like a dish gone bad because of too many exotic ingredients but didn't so kudos to you Christina!

Now things I enjoyed :

*Sam
Sam is Dahlia foster brother. And I loved the rapport between them! His constant teasing and trying to get Dahlia to loosen up, his worrying, all of it was really endearing. I was actually did not like the ending with him. Not needed!

*Merging of the Lapsus ( the fallen aka angels) and Lamia (vampires)
Yeah I was nice to see how she got them together it was a bit traditional vampire abilities mixed with a little Vampire Academy-ish powers plus angels from Hush hush ( I haven't read this series yet but I know the basic storyline and stuff within )

*Ava
I liked her. The mysterious girl who Dahlia connects with at school. She could have been further fleshed maybe but she was good!

I couldn't totally connect with Greyson ( the green-eyed hunk ) at all times. I liked him, he was a good character. He just didn't seem all that memorable to me. Maybe it's something wrong with me, but hey it's just my individual opinion.

On the whole a really good and intriguing read. I will be looking forward to reading the next book and finding out about Rowan a character who is introduced to us at the end but don't know anything about in Fallen Tears the novella.

A great job from a debut author with a high scope of getting it to greatness with her interesting take on vamps and angels. Christina Channelle I'll be on the look out for you.

Let me first start out by saying, I am completely surprised that Dahlia is Christina’s first novel. This book was beyond amazing, and I really hope for more on the forming relationship between Dahlia and Greyson as they make their way to Fallon.

Dahlia is a seventeen year old girl who just finds out that she is part lapsus and part lamia, which are terms you are probably unfamiliar with but in all reality you are not. Just read the book, and you’ll figure out exactly what I mean. When she was younger and living in an orphanage, she saved a wolf and this is something that haunts her dreams still and she tries really hard to make herself believe it was just her overactive imagination playing games on her.

One night Dahlia meets “Green Eyes,” and from that night forward she starts to learn more and more about her past and who she really is. She will even learn that having a family isn’t necessarily a good thing, and that the people you care about are the only family you need.

Dahlia threw some wicked curve balls to me as the reader, because I didn’t expect what happened in the end to ever happen. I was completely shocked by how things planned out and was saddened for Dahlia and all the emotions she would have to deal with. In the end I am glad that Greyson (aka Green Eyes) was there when she had no one left to help her. Had he stuck to the plan, this book would have not been on my top favorite list.

While at the end of Dahlia a second novella (Fallen Tears) is introduced featuring Rowan, who is introduced briefly at the end of the book. While I have not read this novella and am not sure that anything else is published for this series, I know that I will defiantly be adding those to my to read list when the publication dates are released. I plan to stick with this to the end! My rating for this book is 5+ stars!!

A slower paced young adult supernatural romance novel rated with THREE STARS!

Dahlia begins with a young girl at an orphanage who is left with a chunk of her past missing leaving her with many questions. Throughout the pages several answers are found, however, I found that the book was a lot more slower paced then necessary. The descriptions were absolutely amazing, however, I found that the author was distracted from the story at times to write full descriptions for nearly every thing covered within the pages.

The story brings all of our favourite supernatural beings back while adding in several new terms and supernaturals to keep the story interesting. Even the elements play an important part within the book. It reminded me a lot of "The Mortal Instruments" by Cassandra Claire.

When the story does pick up pace the author seemed excited and I felt like Channelle didn't want to forget her thoughts as these areas were prone to typos and grammatical errors.

I loved the love story between Dahlia and Greyson and the fact that it began as a good versus evil type of love. I enjoyed the mystery involved in the beginning as you are left wondering right along with Dahlia what is really going on. "Her thoughts immediately went to Green Eyes and his comment about being different from others. What did he really know?"

There are some huge OH MY GOD moments as the answers trickle in. Leaving you shocked and eager to read on. The ending ties up nicely and I absolutely loved the last few lines for Channelle's creativeness.

All in all, it was a great book. I would recommend it to anyone interested in young adult, urban fantasy, adventure, and romance. Great work Channelle.

This is a very different and unique approach to vampires; or should I say Lamia. I've never read a book that has the perspective the vampires were originally created by Fallen Angels. This perspective and Christina Channelle's writing style work so well together and are quite refreshing.

The plot moves at a reasonable pace. The start seems a little slower but as this is the first book in the series there is a lot of background information being given to the readers and to Dahlia; who discovers what has happened and why things are the way they are between the Fallen Angels and the Lamia.

There are some serious twist in the plot and some unpredictable events which caught me off guard! I was so shocked at one point that I was sat staring open mouthed at my kindle. If I say more it would be a spoiler for those of you who haven't read this yet!
On to the characters!

Dahlia, I felt that she was a little indecisive and somewhat unobservant; which may have been intended. Dahlia is a likable character though.
Greyson AKA Green eyes! I didn't feel as though I really got to know him as well as I personally would have liked. Greyson's inability to stick to his original plan definitely made the plot better.

The Dahlia/Greyson relationship is something that I would like to see grow more; maybe I will in the remaining books. I felt that their relationship was very quick; there was very little time spent with the two getting to know each other.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading Dahlia. The end of Dahlia has left me feeling rather intrigued about the next two books. In Dahlia there is a mention of someone called Rowan. Rowan features in book #1.5 Fallen Tears

The story begins with Dahlia a 17 year old girl who has been fostered into a family after having gone through a few homes. She is a very shy.. and I say that as most of the story she has her head down..yet she also has a very defiant mode to her. Her foster home I'm sure is unaware of her past history and the reason Dahlia is so special. Her foster brother Sam although comes across as a bit brash in the beginning tends to show that he has true concern over her in the rest of the book. Dahlia has dreams many dreams that she cannot understand and has NO idea they are actual past clips of her life.

One night she's aware she's not alone and turns to see Mr. Green Eye's.. the one that may have to end everything. He lets her know her past secrets throughout the story. Knowing how important she is he does his best to do the job he is supposed to do but he begins having feelings for her.

Sam has done his best in the story to bring Dahlia's shyness out and rid of but putting her out there amongst his friends. During these visits things always happen something or someone is trying to take Dahlia down. Unsure who she should trust she manages to accept her past history and the shocks that come with it.

There is a lot of unpredictable events in this book that just takes you off guard. I loved it!!

The title of the book is similar to the main character's name who is apparently, Dahlia. Dahlia has showed to the readers the following events of her life as she discovers about her unique abilities as an individual.

Dahlia is a character who, to me, has appealing qualities even though she is the type of character who keeps to herself most of the time. I could understand what's like to live her life as I could see myself reflected in her. As a reader, I could relate to how she felt through the pages which is neat, and that she made me feel I'm not alone.

I enjoyed Dahlia, although I have to mention that quite a few scenes happened all at once that has gotten a little unorganized, in my opinion. The book written in third perspective which gives readers the chance to have insight on situations the characters faced. The novel itself has a potential. The story that it carries will definitely pull readers into a world, surrounding paranormal and romance.

Dahlia started out as a mystery that slowly was unavailing throughout the story, but we still don't know everything piece to this puzzle, but that's why this is a series, and not a stand alone book. I really enjoyed this book from the first page to the last page. It pulled me in and kept me thinking about it when I wasn't reading it. A very different world, with both fallen angels and vampires. Different twist, but believable and fun twist!

We start out learning alla bout Dahlia, and her past, or what she can remember of it. We learn about her weird/strange dreams, and why she keeps to herself, and that her upbringing was far from pleasant. Finally, she's placed with a foster family, as a teenager, and things start to look up for her, or so she thinks.

I really enjoyed this! I wasn't sure how well the supernatural elements would mix, and I was worried it would become clichéd, but this book managed to avoid all of that and create a story around something completely original in its history. The characters were credible, and their descriptions were well-written. I began to feel envious of Dahlia, despite her perils, because she's a sort of "everyman" - a nobody growing up, a nobody through high school, and then something spectacular happened, something so surreal and so unrelatable to those around her. Great book - looking forward to the sequel(s). :)

Dahlia is a unique take on the history or vampires and fallen angels and their abilities. Dahlia is a likeable character, she's been a foster child in the system since the age of five, and can't remember anything of her life before the orphanage. She understands that she isn't like other children, at times she believes she may be mentally ill. You'll find yourself empathizing with Dahlia. She is a lost soul, trying to find her place in the world.

Well paced and unique storyline. I really enjoyed Dahlia and looking forward to starting Fallen Tears, the Blood Crave novella.

First I have to say that I love the cover, but I didn't picture Dahlia looking like that at all. In the book she is in jeans and t-shirts, covering her beauty. So, the cover felt to me like it didn't go with the story, but was very pretty nonetheless. As far as the book...

I loved the story! What a unique twist on the vampire bloodline. Christina's writing is refreshing. I felt like I was right there in the story with Dahila as she uncovered each new puzzle piece to her existence. Way to go Christina...looking forward to reading your next book :)

I really enjoyed this story a lot. My only complaint was that it took a bit long to get to find out what she was exactly. That being said, the story leading up to that part was very interesting and it kept me wanting more!

This story is so boring. Im half way through this book thinking "when is something going to happen?". Im also still angry how inappropriate her teacher was when she was caught daydreaming. Also by the fact that the guy keeps calling Dahlia "baby doll" like what? I had to look up when this book came out because of that and the fact she was using an MP3 player... I guess this book is just dated and boring. I kept reading because it had decent reviews and I wanted to see where it lead. It was not worth it though.

I feel like this book had potential to be good but the execution was awful. The characters felt flat and the book was in desperate need of an editor. There were words missing, repeated words, and words that didn't mean what the author meant to say. I don't think I will be continuing with this series.

An interesting take on vampires. Blood Crave was a lovely read.

I liked how the origin of vampires was given a different spin in this book. It's a unique look at vampire mythology. It was well explained, though I wish that I had a more in depth look at the rest of the mythology within this book-more into the angels and the children of the fallen angels.

Dahila was a good character. She was likable, though I wish she had been more decisive and more observant. But she was a lovely character.

Grayson was the love interest and he was okay, but I didn't feel like a really got to know his character. And that also kept me skeptical about his and Dahlia's relationship. I didn't feel like they knew each other well enough to have deep feelings for each other. I'm okay with insta-love, but only if I feel like the characters had the chance to get to know each other at least a little. I didn't feel like that happened here. But, I hope to see more development in their relationship in later books.

The plot moved quickly and there were some serious twists throughout the book. And several surprises that had my jaw dropping. Definitely not a predictable book. The ending was lovely and has me intrigued about what will happen in book 2.

Dahlia tells the story of a young woman named, you guessed it, Dahlia. She has been through foster home after foster home, but now that she has been in her current one for 6 months, she is being to feel like things might be normal. That is, until she starts feeling watched all the time, and a strange young man with green eyes won't leave her alone.
I liked the spin on vampires and fallen angels in this story. I've read things sort of like it before, but it still had unique elements to make its own. It had a good pacing to it. It wasn't too fast or too slow. Like a lot of books, it picked up a lot after the first half.
What I didn't like so much were the characters. Dahlia seemed very predictable and not much of a fighter like you would expect. I thought her romantic relationship was unrealistic. The two characters barely knew each other. There just weren't any scenes where they really bonded normally. Also, at the beginning, it seemed like her foster brother was interested in her. In the first scene, he is checking her out very obviously. I was really surprised when it suddenly switched to them just having a normal foster brother-sister relationship.
I would give this 3 stars, overall.

Favorite Lines "That, was the moment when I knew I was different.”

“For the first time Greyson could ever remember, he felt true heartache”

Wow I can't imagine living the life Dahlia has! How terrifying to have the nightmares she does, to crave blood? (Shivers)
Greyson gets the wind knocked out of him when he sees Dahlia! She's amazing. He wants to protect her. Only problem is how does he protect her from him? He's made a deal with a devil so to speak, that devil wants Dahlia or more specifically her blood!
Everyone is not who they seem. Who can she trust!
Fabulous beginning for this series! It's paranormal at its finest!

Weird to be reviewing my own book but here it goes...

"Dahlia" is the first book in a series that introduces some of the characters in the Blood Crave Series world. It's about an ordinary girl who actually isn't so ordinary as she discovers who she really is. "Dahlia" has some intrigue, humor, and a little bit of romance :)

A revised version has been recently published and I am ecstatic with the changes made. I hope you enjoy!

Sadly the writing is not very good, and neither is the plot. Plus the characters' voices are all kind of undifferentiated -- even the "very special snowflake" title character.

Apart from a very purple prologue, the paranormal elements are not really introduced until well into the book (or so I gather, having not gotten even that far), and its all pretty tedious already so I'm not really tempted to continue.

My first comment would be I'm terribly sad that Sam is dead. It was miserable for me when the evil angels said that him and his parents weren't in this realm anymore. I can only hope that Ava was lying cause I like Sam, he was a well written, well rounded character. I wish the second installment would come out soon.

couldn't finish this book. I struggled to get to 50%. the story line was terribly slow and to in depth. it drug on forever before it even introduced the paranormal beginnings of the story. the cover is beautiful but if you cant cement my interest way before 50%, then its a no go.
