Janelle return to her hometown to deal with her mother's death and trying to move on with her life. She's in no way ready for a relationship, even if it is with the sexy stranger following her. Damien is a man on a mission: restoring his family's honor, no matter what. He needs Janelle to help him and while his heart wars with his head, they explore each other under the mohawk moon.

First off, this is a fantastic story, filled with plenty of drama and intrigue but for me, it's the chemistry between Janelle and Damien that makes this a great book. They sizzle and I can't wait to read more!

I found this book to be refreshing. This isn't your average love story. There's action, drama, mystery, and something hot! The concept of the entire book being first person was new, and enjoyable.

Granted, you can tell this is a first novel, but it doesn't take away from the fact that this author is good. They know the story they are telling, and do it well enough, that at the end of the book, you're left panting for more.

The dynamic of the characters if amazing. Their interactions are so lifelike. I honestly think anyone would enjoy reading this book. Not just romance fans!

I started reading Mohawk Moon and was immediately hooked. The characters are well thought out and realistic. The chemistry between Jany and Damien is great. I loved the romance and the suspense. The book has a satisfying resolution and ends with a teaser cliffhanger leaving me wanting more! I can't wait to read the next book. I can't say too much without spoiling the plot which I hate to do. I will say that I enjoyed the book and the author is very talented.

In Mohawk Moon Janelle returns home when her father murdered her mother for the funeral and finds another mystery besides where her father disappeared to after killing her mom. The second problem comes form the shared history of her white ancestors and a scepter that was stolen form Damien's Native American ancestors.

Jany and Damien team up to find her father and the scepter to return it to the rightful owners. Dimitri, Damien's brother shows up and starts shooting as he wants the glory of restoring the scepter to the family. The excitement is high as more shooting, a kidnapping and a showdown with Jamy's father and with Dimitri too. Romance develops quickly when the bullets are flying and Jamy and Damien learn to trust and love one another. It does end with a cliffhanger after this part of the story completed the main task of returning the scepter to the rightful owners after generations of seekers failing to find it.

I was curious since I saw the title and I wanted to read the book without to care too much about its description.

The action begins quickly, but not abruptly. From the first steps occurs the thrill of danger and of the predestined attraction (or love?). Readers will feel it in full because the story is told alternately by Janelle and Damien. United by what they feel, they are separated from their family history. A history with ancient roots in which there are found trust and betrayal, murder, seeking of redemption and fulfillment of a sacred mission.

„I known my destiny since I was a child. Janelle will led me there, one way or another [...]. Will I have to kill her to get it?”

The relationship between Janelle and Damien is not the only one with problems. Personal decisions or the ones of others hang heavily between the main characters and influence the course of events. They must deal with the past to have a future and that it's not so easy when, even now, someone’s betrayal and anger threaten exactly what they get to cherish most. The resignation and sacrifice bring extra tension.

„I know the man they call father [...]. They may be beautiful, but that can’t save them.”

And in all this whirling the undeniable attraction between Janelle and Damien burns. This attraction is the one who provides sometimes funny moments or exciting ones.

Although predictable, the ending did not spoil the journey.

„I remember I always felt like the eagle was watching me. [...] She was out there, watching, waiting. But for what?” „The eagle has always been with our family. Since my great ancestors. To lead us, warn us, protect us. It was a sign. She will show up.”

I liked that the author has introduced elements of Native American and I wanted even more details and legends. Of course it was not the place or book’s genre, but this is what I would have liked ... However there are references that make you dream at past worlds, but also to think about lost moral values.

Without insisting on them, using them only to offer some explanation, the author draws attention to some important issues like: abuse, rape, misunderstanding of your debt, accepting of what you are or seeking justice at any cost. With regard to justice at any cost the author is playing on the edge. Classic cop - even when quitting - will always ultimately do what is right and bring the criminal to justice. In our case the gray is not clarify completely, reality’s shadows enveloping even more people than you initially expected.

There are some things I liked and some things I would have liked more detailed, polished, but if I say that I didn’t read the book in one breath and with pleasure it will be a lie.

„I look up at the moon through the trees. It’s a new moon. That’s not good. My mother always told me it’s bad luck to see a new moon through the trees.”

Jany comes back home for the funeral of her mother after many years away from home. She left the house when she had enough of her drunk, violent and abusing father. Coming back home brings a lot of bad and some good memories. When she arrives she immediately notice a really sexy guy spying on her. She will soon discover who he is and why he is following her.

Damien is that guy. He has one goal it it to bring back honor to his family. Damien's family and Jany's family are related. One ancestor from Jany's family have stolen a scepter from Damien's family and killed for it. Damien wants to use Jany to get to the scepter but someone else seems to get it before him.

Jany and Damien will have to team together to reach their goals. Hers it to get rid of her father and his is to get the scepter. Feeling a strong appeal towards each other, they will have to deal with this at the same time they have to build trust to each other. And danger is always near...

Will they be able to reach their goals without getting hurt? Do they have a futur together?

I really really liked that book. The story is pretty short but with so much happening. We don't get lost in descriptions and I really like that. We are switching from Jany's thought in one chapter another Damien's thought in the other chapter. We rarely are able to have both main characters thought and that is very cool. The attraction between Jany and Damien is going a little fast but it is so good to imagine what they feel for each other.
To conclude I really like the end of the book which is surprising and now I really want to see what's next. Great job N. Kuhn!!!

Kuhn’s very straightforward yet approachable writing style drew me in right from the get go. She made me laugh and cringe at the same time because I could picture exactly what was happening. Everything always seemed so natural, even if it was out of the ordinary. Kuhn’s amazing use of similes, metaphors, and descriptions brought this entire world to life. The physical formatting of this novel also adds to the intensity of the story. The reader is jumping quickly from page to page, right along with the forward progression of the novel. It’s a very unique feel.

This is a very personal story on the part of the characters. You feel like you know the main character as soon as she starts talking, which is when you first meet her. I feel like she’s a lifelong friend. I love how Kuhn flips perspectives between the two main characters. It keeps the reader completely entrenched in this inviting yet gripping tale. By the end, I was completely in love with both of the lead characters.

Even though this was an action packed novel Kuhn still managed to bring tears to my eyes. This was an awesome novel that combined so many different aspects of life and literature that I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone. And to tell them to pick up the sequel, because I can’t wait to read it.

Janelle must return home after leaving it all behind years ago. She had a rough childhood and never looked back. She became a cop and now takes in the people like the one who hurt her years ago. With her mother's funeral in just a few days she has to deal with the sorrow of her loss, repair the bond with her sister, hunt down her dad and figure out what the sexy stranger wants from her. Past family secrets are coming out and it may just put her life in danger.

I enjoyed this and it was a quick delight to read. It has plenty of action and keeps you on your toes. This family has had a lot of bad times and Janelle learns it goes back a long time. When Damien enters the scene you can see the sparks fly between them. Even knowing they should be enemies they have a hard time trying to stay apart. Working together to restore honor to their families they may just find more than they expected. Danger is all around and no where is safe. I really enjoyed the characters in this book. What would have broke many people only made Janelle even stronger. This is sure to please many.

Janelle is four years older then her sister Samantha. Their father Philip is a drunk. He sometimes disappear for days at a time. But when he didn't Sam and Janelle would stay up at night and talk about leaving to go traveling together. Finally Janelle had enough and she ran away the night before her graduation.
Ten years later she gets a call from her sister telling her that their mother is dead. Janelle couldn't believe it. She goes back to Fort Edward hoping that she can make things right with her sister. At the bus stop she sees a man leaning against the wall and she notices that he is carring a gun. She can notice this stuff cause back in Chicago she is a cop. Damien's father was killed by Janelle's and Sam's father. So he is going to make them pay. His dreams tell him that Janelle is going to help him get back the scepter. His family was the protector of the scepter of Owaho which mean wolf in Mohawk. If you want to know more you are going to have to read the book.
I truly enjoyed this story. It held my attention from start to finish. I want more!!

Damien want to get the scepter back that Janelle’s father stole from them years ago. It seems easy at first but things become complicated as his feelings of lust and love for Janelle becomes stronger. Not only does he have to deal with his feelings for Janelle but he also has to deal with his brother Dimitri. Dimitri has always been jealous of Damien and he wants to be the one who returns the scepter to his family and restore the family’s name. He is willing to go as far as trying to kill both Janelle and Damien to be the one to do it. Will Damien be able to accomplish what he is destined to do without killing his brother and keeping Janelle alive?
“Mohawk Moon” is a good read and it kept me interested in reading more. I thought the love Damien and Janelle felt for each other was happening all too soon; seeing as they just met. However the storyline was great and I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

So good! Action packed! Nicole did a fantastic job with this book. The backstory of Jany and Sammy is heart wrenching and has you loving them that much more. Janelle is an amazing heroine. She is strong, independent, strong willed, and yet vulnerable and insecure enough to be relatable with.
Damien is smoking hot, determined, honor bound, and did I mention smoking hot.
Jany doesn't know her family history and Damien wants everything he has been brought up to know to be wrong..at least about Jany anyways.
These two go through so much in such a short amount of time. They aren't dealt the best of hands but you will have to read to find out more.
Oh and what a cliffhanger!!!!!! So glad I have the next book waiting for me in my bookshelf.
Love love Nicole Kuhn and can't wait to read more of her work!

This book is absolutely amazing, Jany and her sister went through so much when they were children that no child should ever go through. I was going back and forth with whether to trust Damien or not. but oh em gee what a man *fans self*
They go on a search for this stolen scepter and its no easy task with facing their feelings for eachother and Jany having to face the one person who was pretty much the monster in all her past and nightmares. And That damn Epilogue had me saying “Oh shit” even tho I should have realized it. I cannot wait for the next book in this series to see what happens next.

The beautiful cover is mesmerizing and mysterious. The top oozes sexuality, while the bottom conveys the mystery of the story.

I really enjoyed this story. Damien was sexy as hell AND he can sing! I really enjoyed the suspense and the unexpected turns in this story. I didn't see any of it coming! It was well written, well thought out, and the emotions that poured forth on every page were felt easily and smoothly. Everything about it was smooth and flowed nicely. I can't wait to read the next one!

Drama, Suspense, Mystery, Romance,~ Mohawk Moon has the entire list. The characters are believable and their interaction pleasing to the reader. The story is told in the first person perspective of Janelle and then Damien. At times it can get confusing however you catch up quickly as this is a fast paced read. I found the book refreshingly different from your "average" romance novel and look forward to reading the rest of the series. Kudos to N. Kuhn for writing "outside the box". Lovely!

I am truly astounded at the amount of 4- and 5-star reviews for this book! Not only does it read like an outline for a book instead of an actual story, it contains every spelling, grammar, punctuation, and formatting mistake possible! It's obvious that the editing step was skipped, and it amazes me that so many people would rate this so highly, given the amount of obvious mistakes.

I was intrigued by the story and wanted to like the characters and plot. That became all but impossible when the sentences read like something you would find in a sixth-grade essay. "I went to the car. The radio was on. I enjoyed the music, it was lovely." This isn't an actual passage from the book but it gives you an idea of the stunted, rudimentary style of writing that made it seem like the author was writing her basic outline of the book, but forgot to go back and revise it with details and better writing.

The amount and type of mistakes was just appalling. "Our families history" instead of "family's", which happens several times. "Dimitri's hand falls free of my hair, and is pushed by the force of the bullet into the river. I turn and watch his body float away." So the bullet pushes his hand into the river and all of the sudden his body is floating away? Words that don't belong and were clearly auto-corrected. "Hand me the keeps." You mean keys?? "Some silly part of me abided by my father's fuels." Perhaps you meant rules?? I could go on and on. There are so many more instances of sloppy or no editing, some of which cause huge holes in the plot. Just because you can read the story through the glaring mistakes doesn't mean we should give the author a pass.

I don't usually point out so many specifics or get so riled up about a book, but I can't believe a mess like this has so many good reviews! Have we fallen so far that a sex scene, a poorly constructed mystery, and lazy editing constitute a good read? I would have given-up if it hadn't been such a short story. And to those who like PNR- don't waste your time. There's nothing paranormal about this.

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

This was an intriguing novella that I enjoyed.

Janelle is a very strong character to say that she has had an abusive childhood. She is now a police detective, but has not been home for ten years. When her mother is murdered, she comes home to track down the killer. I really liked this character. She is feisty and totally focused on finding her mother's killer, but a sexy stranger could be a fly in the ointment!

Damien is a man with a shaman-like ability to have visions. His visions send him looking for Janelle. Once they meet, sparks fly! I really like this character. He is a very honourable man. It doesn't hurt that he's uber sexy!

This is a novella that I struggled to put down. Told from both Janelle's and Damien's point of view, I was quickly hooked into the story. Unfortunately, this book is a little rough around the edges, and needs a good editor to go through it and correct some of the more glaring errors. However, that being said, the plot line kept me interested enough to keep going. There are twists and surprises that I didn't see coming. I was a bit surprised at Janelle's reaction to her father, but I could understand it, even as I disagreed with it. The ending has a bit of a cliffhanger that made me want to read the next book in the series.

N. Kuhn has written a book that is a diamond in the rough, hence my 3* review; I would have loved to give this book a higher mark. With a little bit of a polish, this book could shine brightly! Her characters are lifelike and likable. I will definitely be following her career with interest.

Although there are some scenes of a sexual nature, they are not too explicit or erotic. I recommend this book if you love paranormal romance mixed with mystery and suspense. - Lynn Worton

This book by N Kuhn was an intense ride. It was a unique story with believable and well rounded characters. The plot of the story kept you moving along and kept you turning the pages. There is quite a bit of suspense and drama in this book. And it left me wanting to read more from this Author.

I do have to say that there were some MAJOR issues in the editing, and paying for a good editor can repair these issues. There were quite a few times that I found myself re-reading a line that I had just read because it was repeated. So due to those issues I can't give this 5 stars because it literally made me stop and make notes in my kindle. So many notes were taken of issues in the books.

I do have to applaud the author on creating such fabulous characters. The relationship between the sisters was so realistic. There are characters in this book that you will HATE and ones you will LOVE, and that shows that the Author has created a well thought out story. I just wish the author had stayed in one tense or voice. That did get confusing at times. But it all worked out in the end.

I give this book 3.5 stars. I wish I could have given more stars but I think that while the characters were engaging, and the storyline itself was well developed the lack of editing detracted from the finished product to a degree that many will not appreciate.

Details/Disclaimer: Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

I have never seen a freshly-mined diamond. I've been told that they are a very nice looking rock, and even a novice can see the beauty and potential within. However, they are not nearly as beautiful as they are once they've been cut and polished by an experienced veteran.

My personalized copy of N Kuhn's “Mohawk Moon” is just like that raw diamond. Ms. Kuhn admitted to me in a private conversation that it was her first published novel, and that it has been edited – twice – since my version was bound. (As such, I will not address spelling, grammar, or formatting errors present in my version.)

Still, it's difficult NOT to see the beauty underneath the exterior of this book. The characters are very likable, and the plot is easy to follow without being transparent. Ms. Kuhn accomplishes something that many experienced writers often fail at: she makes me feel like I am in the setting watching the action, rather than sitting in an easy chair reading about it. I can almost smell the forest, hear the crunching of feet upon gravel, and so on.

I already have the second book in this series, and am looking forward to reading it.

RATING: 3 ½ stars, rounded down to 3 stars. (I suspect I might have rounded it upwards had I read one of the later, better-edited copies.
DISCLOSURE: I was given this book free of charge, in return for an honest review.

I love anything to do with Native American culture. The fact that this book was packed with two bad ass main characters, plenty of action and a touch of romance. Made it all the better. Mohawk Moon is a great start to a series that leaves the reader wanting much more. A definite MUST for any fans of the genre.

Janelle is one tough cookie! I have a lot of respect for her character. She's been through a great deal and continues to stand tall and proud. There are things that haunt her past, a past that cannot be changed. But she's going to do what she can to make it right in the present.

Damien is supposed to be doing something. He must fulfill a prophecy that is his duty to his family. He plans to do it. But he also cannot keep his mind, eyes and other body parts from a special main focus named Janelle.

Love at first sight. Yes, I do believe in it. I call it fate! Something you DO NOT mess with! Nicole wrote us up a great story with excellent characters and an addictive quality. I look forward to seeing where she'll take us next!

The story was pretty good and I enjoyed the characters. There are some atrocious spelling and formatting errors, enough that I almost gave it a 3, but since I won the book in a contest and didn't put out money for it, I decided to overlook the errors (i.e. keeps should be keys, and other similar types of errors. Not formatted so it looks unprofessional)- but the plot was good and I found myself invested in the story all the way through-- a bit of a cliffhanger at the end, but it didn't read like an installment book (HATE those!). If the writer had cleaned it up better, it would have been a 5.

Please don't chop me into a zillion pieces here for giving a 4 star review. I loved this book. Honest. The story was great, the characters were awesome. The development of the story was great. There were some editorial issues and some of the areas felt repetitive. Some of the conversations seemed a bit cut short, but this is usually chalked up to first book jitters? Other than that, seriously great book. I particularly liked Damian. Very strong character. Can't wait to get started on the next two! <3 Reviewed by Ashley E. of www.faebooks.co.uk

Awesome Book

This was the fourth book I have read by n. Kuhn and I enjoyed it a lot. It was action packed, emotional and exciting. I can't wait to read what happens next. I loved reading from Jany's perspective and then Damien's throughout the book. I liked the mystery with a little bit of romance thrown in, and the inclusion of the Native American aspect was really neat. I didn't wanna put it down once I started reading. It was very easy to connect with these characters. Overall a very good book. I would definitely recommend this to anyone and everyone lol
