A good, entertaining story. We follow Shawn mostly in this installment, as he searches for a kidnapped school teacher. With the help of an old bear hunter and a hangman, Shawn traipses all over New Mexico down into Mexico in search of the woman, finding foreign enemies he hadn't counted on. While entertaining, I found myself missing Jacob as a lead. Shawn seemed a little hot headed and a bit untrained, stumbling into enemy hands. It does not detract from a fun read, but was a bit frustrating for this reader.

This is really the first Brother's O'Brien that I have enjoyed. The voice acting for some of the brothers are great though. The story is pretty standard, but the side characters in this one were definitely cool.

Shawn O'Brien sets out to rescue the school teacher hired to teach the children of Dromore, both family and employees. She's taken by a man from her past, actually a hired man, and is to be sold to Arab slavers in Mexico along the coast.

He's accompanied by an old bear hunter and a man who is a hangman by profession, though he doesn't know how to use guns.

Hired gunmen, Arab slavers, nothing will stay Shawn's hand.

Back at home, the old man, Shamus, undergoes surgery to remove the spearhead near his spine that has confined him to a wheelchair for years.
