Vina Jackson is the pseudonym for two established writers working together for the first time. One a successful author, the other a published writer who is also a city professional working in the Square Mile.
As far as I know this is the last book of the 5 book collection from Eighty Days and I have to say it was worth reading them all (I have read them in release order) you can read this book, as well as Eight Days Amber, as a stand-alone.
Lily always had a deep desire in her waiting to be discovered and explored. After Lily moves to London her friend Liana introduces Lily to a new world full of adventure, will this satisfy the desires deep within her?
It is all about a woman who is trying to find who she really is and satisfy her deep desires. (This is actually the same as the other books.)
Still I enjoyed reading this book especially because I wanted to know more about the cross-overs with the other woman from Eighty Days Yellow, Red, Blue and Amber.
I received my copy from Orion Books through Nudge and rated it 4.5 stars.
This fifth book in the “Eighty Days” series is about Lily, the girl with the teardrop tattoo, who has been present in all of the four previous books, be it in very small roles most of the time.
When Lily moves to London after finishing university in Brighton she is ready to embrace the world. She doesn’t know what she wants from life or how exactly she fits into her surroundings though. Observing her friend submitting to a man leaves Lily with mixed emotions. She is intrigued by the dynamic between them, the abandon she witnesses in her friend as well as the control the man displays, but she is not quite sure how this relates to her. Lily is on a quest to discover exactly what it is she wants and needs and her search starts with a passionate but somewhat detached affair with Leonard, a man about twice her age. Although she only meets him in impersonal hotel rooms she feels close to and safe with him. When he ends their affair, all to aware of the problems the difference in their ages will at some point cause, he leaves Lily bereft. She longs for Leonard with a desperate passion and while she continues her search for what ever it may be she is looking for, it is always with the image of Leonard in the back of her mind.
After Leonard, Lily starts an affair with Dagur, the drummer in the Holy Criminals rock band. Although she can lose herself in wonderful and imaginative sexual exploits with him, she knows from the start that this isn’t and never will be a relationship. Through Dagur she meets Grayson, a celebrity photographer and his Mistress, She, who runs a fetish club. It is through She and her part-time job in the club that Lily discovers her dominating tendencies, but even those don’t bring her quite the satisfaction she is looking for. And her confusion about what it is what she wants means that she regularly finds herself angry for no clear reason; with herself and with the people around her.
It is only when she takes herself away from London and all the people she knows that her eyes are opened to what it is she really wants and needs; to what was always available to her if only she had been able to see it.
As in the previous Eighty Days books no effort has been made to make the main character either charming or endearing; these books portray real human beings with real doubts, fears and dark sides. Lily is only 21 years old when the story starts and has only started on her journey to who she is and what her role in life will be. And she is layered; on the outside she may look like a bad girl but on the inside the good girl she has been for most of her life is still alive and kicking. It is through her various relationships and all the different experiences she has that she slowly starts to recognise that maybe there isn’t an either – or answer to her questions. Maybe she doesn’t have to make a choice between being in charge and submitting; maybe she can just be herself with the one person who never wanted her to be anything else in the first place. This makes for an interesting character study. And while there were times when I wanted to smack Lily and tell her to stop being self-obsessed, her journey felt real and the outcome at the end was very satisfying.
I loved the way in which the characters from the previous books all play minor roles in this one. It was nice to once again get glimpses of Summer and Dominik, Luba and Chey, Lauralynn and Viggo just as it was interesting to see a character like Grayson developed a little bit further. According to the “Acknowledgments” this is the last “Eighty Days” title featuring these characters, and I have to admit that I’m sorry to say goodbye to them. On the upside though we are promised a return of Eighty Days with a whole host of new characters and I’m both delighted and very curious about that.
This book, like the four prequels, is very well written. The authors manage to make both the characters and their surroundings vivid and real. In fact, there were times that the characters were maybe a bit too realistic for me; their emotions and faults a bit too recognisable for comfort. This is not the sort of book where you find yourself wishing you were the main character, at least not until the very end of the book. The journeys the characters in these books have to undertake in order to get to their personal happy endings are too much like real life for that. But then these are books about personal journeys of discovery as much as they are works of erotica.
As for that erotica it is explicit and doesn’t always make for comfortable reading. And again that is due to the realism. We do not have beautifully sculpted, idolised versions of what a dream Dom would be in these books. We get a look at everything that can be wrong about the BDSM life-style as well as everything that can be right about it. The characters in these books are searching for that which really works for them and it is a quest filled with ups and downs, happiness and sadness, fulfilment as well as disappointment. Nobody wakes up one morning knowing exactly what it is they want and how to get it, and neither do the characters in these books. And while that doesn’t always paint a pretty picture it does make for a realistic and intriguing story.
This book, like the whole series, is a fascinating look at one person’s road toward (sexual) fulfilment told in a fun, hot and satisfying way. This is a story for grown-ups who want more than a fairy-tale.
Remember the Fifty Shades of Gray craze that swept the world and miseducated people about BDSM? I'm actually glad that in this book, we have consent, a bunch of super hot scenes and a femdom who finds out she wants to be a switch. Pretty good overall if you can look past the MC's bland personality. But screw it, I came for the submissive men and the BDSM sex stuff so I'm pretty glad it delivered somewhat (NGL, AO3 fics can do better).

Read: 1 February 2013 Why: Enjoyed the Eighty Days series
Brief synopsis: Lily is introduced to a fetish club by best friend Liana and is surprised to learn that she is fascinated by the goings on in but not ready to participate. The more she sees, the more she is drawn to the fetish scene but at the same time, she's torn as she cannot give up the need to love and be loved. Can she find true love with someone able to fulfil her sexual desires?
What I thought: Like Amber, this book runs parallel to the three books in the main series but this time, has so much less interaction with the main characters/story that it is almost completely different. This is the story of Lily who you may recognise from the other books as the girl with the teardrop tattoo.
I don't think I can properly explain my feelings for this book without a bit of a spoiler so please don't read on if you don't wish to know - Lily discovers that she enjoys being dominant. This is the first book I have come across with a Domme and personally, I found it hard to relate to Lily at times because of that. It also made some of the sexual content seem more shocking to me. I think what really made the book for me was the fact that Lily wanted a partner to love and didn't enjoy the humiliation side of dominance.
Overall, a well written book with a great story which could easily be read as a stand alone book.
Favourite quote: "Each of them had a different sign held in his arms or pinned to his forehead. The man in the chair with his cock out held a note that said, Eat Me. The man wearing the blindfold held a note that said, Beat Me. And the one with his hands tied in front said, Make Me Beg. 'Wow,' I said to She. 'I feel like Alice in Wonderland.'"
Eighty Days White is another companion novel to the original titles. It deals with another character we've briefly met - Lily, the girl with the teardrop tattoo. We follow her on her journey from her days as a student in Brighton to London and a life of sexual discovery.
There are kinks abound in this book - voyeurism, exhibitionism, female domination, male domination, submission, spanking and much, much more. You learn more about Lily with each new chapter, and actually feel sorry for her at the points where things aren't going her way. However, her sexual and sensual escapades more than counteract this and it's fascinating to watch how Lily eventually comes to realise who she is, what she likes, and how she embraces it. There are many false starts and lots of world travel involved, but it all comes together in a very satisfying ending.
Eighty Days White was another interesting addition to the series. It wasn't my favourite, I must admit, but I suspect this is because I didn't like the characters as much as I did in some of the previous books. It's still a great, well-written novel and is worth a read, particularly if you enjoyed the others in the collection.
Finally I get to read this steamy, passionate and humorous in its own way novel. I read this in the ebook format and usually, I can't finish ebooks because I'm rather old fashioned when it comes to books, preferring to read it in physical form. But Eighty Days White is one of the only two ebooks I have in my ebook collection that I managed to finish and I'm proud of myself. Sounds kinda self-indulgent but yeah, you get the point!
Anyway, this book ties up all the loose ends and closes the first half of the Eighty Days series nicely. Out of the three protagonists of the first five Eighty Days novels, I find Lily to be the easiest to relate to. Perhaps it's because of her rebellious nature and how she attempts to break free of the constraints imposed in our society. Lily is not as reckless as Summer or as manipulative as Luba but she's a creature of conscience although sometimes she does act on impulse. But at the end of the day, Lily's decisions ultimately defines who she is as a person and I find that beautiful. However, Lily does display rather childish, unrealistic behavior at times but don't we all do? The ending is especially refreshing where everyone come together and lived happily ever after...for now.
Additionally, it's fun to read about a female domme who also happens to be the main character besides the ever mysterious and mischievous Lauralynn.
This addition to the series continues the highly erotic appeal as all of the others in the Eighty Days series. This one can be read as a stand-alone if readers would like to come straight to it. I personally think you’d get a kick out of recognizing going ons in the background if you read the others first though. Just saying. A good read for any fans of the genre.
Lily is…Lily. She’s like no other, nor does she want to be. Unsure of what she really wants in life or out of it. She explores, tries new things. Brings in some new to her life and leaves the old behind only to find out what she really needed was ALWAYS right there for her.
I cannot picture another addition to the Companion series but will definitely welcome it if the authors decide upon it. I enjoyed the way all of the stories are connected in some way and were really a story of their very own :)
This novel is another installment in the Eighty Days Series and the authors have delivered again. There seems to be no end of alternative life choices in this one; from voyeurism, exhibitionism, female domination, male domination, submission, spanking, to (and I know it's hard to believe) - more! The story is centered around Lily, she of the teardrop tattoo, and her journey to self acceptance. The book's pacing was a bit uneven as all the different experiences occur in detail, and Lily's character unfolds slowly. The settings are as varied as can be and are well drawn. The secondary characters make sense in the plotline and are strong as well. The book could stand alone, but really serves as a continuation of the series and readers will want to read them all. *I received my copy from NetGalley.com in exchange for an honest review.
Just like the previous book, this one is compelling and has a fantastic story. I like Lily, the way she tries to find herself even if it means going against what other believe. At the beginning she was so innocent and pure, even through the story with Leonard. When she meets Dagur she is starting to see a different side of herself, especially since working at the club and meeting She and Grayson.Still she doesn't know if she is on the right path and than everything change when she moves. When Neil follows her there she starts to see that there is another way and maybe she can have it all. Neil is just fantastic and his love for her so unconditional. Every single one of them have a happy ending and I really like that I had the possibility to learn about each one of the characters.
So, this book follows Lily, who we've met from previous books. We follow Lily through her days as a student and we watch her try new sexual things and figure out who she is. There is a lot of sexy times in this book in all different forms. Some made me squirm a little. This is a companion novel, although it can be standalone. I haven't read all the others from the series, but the book made perfect sense to me. It's not my favorite of the series, but it was good, nonetheless.
This is a really good book and if you are a fan of erotic romance, this one is for you. If you are a fan of reading about a girl's self discovery, this one's for you!
4 solid stars from me!
Thanks to the author and Netgalley for a copy in exchange for an honest review!
This book finally tells the story of the girl with the teardrop tattoo who has briefly been written about in the all the previous Eighty Days books. We see from her side the times she's met or just seen from afar Dominik, Summer, Luba, Greyson, She and many others. From the other books I imagined Lily as a rough Goth but in this book we find out she's a rebellious rich girl who is trying to find out who she is. The end of the book brings all the characters together in one setting, not all of them know who the other is but it highlights what all the books have shown, it's a small world with lots of coincidences. This attempt to close off the story is successful and provides a satisfying conclusion.
I preferred this book to the rest of the series, though i feel that there is an awful lot of description that tends to get boring after a while. i understand the need to set the scene, describe where the character is, what they see, but when this takes up numerous pages i kept getting the urge to skip that part of the book. Overall though the story of Lily was great and it was nice to see all the other characters again from the previous books make an appearance.
http://www.unbrindelecture.com/2014/1...
I honestly didn't know how to make sense of this book. I mean, some parts of it I just thought it was weird while other parts of the story made perfect sense. It was interesting in the sense that I have never read a book that was written in that way before, but I don't think I would be re-reading it ever.
This is what I call a hardcore series. I might even say it probably crosses most readers lines of comfort. This is not for Under 18 readers. Lily is trying so hard to find out who she is. She endures through lots of breakups and hopefully finds where she needs to be. I liked this book. I hope there is another book on the horizon to see whether she does have her Happy Ever After.
felt as the the writer ran out of things to wrote about at the beginning but well worth plodding through the boring parts. altho I did feel like the writer also ran out of ideas for the sex parts. glad it's the last book in the series as I don't think it would have gotten better. I also found the book before this one a little slow.
Loved it! I really enjoy knowing more about the characters from the first three books...but I fear that the authors have started something now that could go on for ever. I really want to know all about Grayson, and it would be interesting to read from a mans point of view. ;)
Took me a while to get into it, think I was cause I was still hooked on my other book (reflected in you) I enjoyed most of it although some parts I didn't like the fisting herself ect... Other than that - good book
