Great Exploitations #1

Mischief in Miami

Rate this book
Seduction. Infidelity. Blackmail. Scandal. It can all be bought for the right price and for Sienna Stevens, business is good.

Because she’s in the business of Great Exploitations.

She’s an Eve, a member of a secret society of women contracted by the wives of wealthy, powerful men for one reason and one reason only: to seduce their husbands. To ensure their pre-nuptial agreement will be null and void thanks to a little loophole known as the Infidelity Clause. To ensure that those wives don’t find themselves on the other side of a divorce without a penny to their name.

When it comes to the Eves, Sienna’s one of the best because she follows the number one rule of the Eves to the letter: don’t let it get personal.

When the job file of her wealthiest client yet falls into her lap, Sienna realizes that this case could be the one that’s impossible to detach herself from. The payout would lead to her independence, but will the cost be too high in the end?

Great Exploitations is something unlike I've read before!!

Sienna is confident but it's taken her time to get there.Emotions pushed aside because she is looking for a large pay day that will allow her to leave this life in the past. But while looking forward she sometimes glimpses back at the mess she was before her career change at the disastrous wake a man left and she buries that history and continues on...

Looking for a heroine you can root for? A hero that sweeps you off your feet? A love story for the ages? If your answers to those questions are yes, yes, YES, don’t read this novella.

The main character’s name is Sienna (at least for now it is). She’s everything I wanted Dante Walker (from The Collector) to be. Like him, her job is to ruin people and where Dante is after souls, she’s after money. She’s part of an elite agency of women that seduces and sleeps with rich men so that their abused, neglected or abandoned wives can catch them in the act of cheating and their prenuptial agreement will be null and void. She’s an arrogant, unapologetic and unflinching chameleon. Which is why she’s the best.

The story is told through her perspective and the writing is somewhat detached and methodical but this is by design because it reflects Sienna's personality, her inner monologue. She’s absolutely steadfast in her pursuit of Daniel Silva, her latest Target. Not everything goes to plan along the way but Sienna is able to detach herself so much from her emotions that she’s able to remain fully in control of almost every situation, having years of training to prepare her to do so. Oh, and Daniel? Don’t hope that he’s going to become some sort of love interest or that you might feel an iota of pity for him along the way. You won’t. He’s a douchebag.

I almost can’t believe I liked this so much. I’ve tried to read Nicole Williams before (Crash) and she was a DNF for me. This series looks like it will be different. It’s NEW. As in, I’ve never seen this premise before and I’m really excited to see where she goes with it. I think there could be a special place in my jaded little heart for it providing she doesn't screw it up.

That said, this book is NOT for everybody. Some people might hate this character and some might love her. I see very little room for in-betweeners here. But don't worry, you won't hurt Sienna's feelings:

Our leading lady is an ‘Eve’. Eve’s are a member of a secret society of women contracted by the wives of wealthy, powerful men for one reason and one reason only: to seduce their husbands. To ensure their pre-nuptial agreement will be null and void thanks to a little loophole known as the Infidelity Clause. To ensure that those wives don’t find themselves on the other side of a divorce without a penny to their name.

This Eve works to help women. Women who have been screwed over like she has been. She doesn’t feel guilty. The men she seduces are cheaters and assholes. She can be anyone her Errand wants her to be. She knows how to seduce any man. She doesn’t get personally involved. She gets the job done, and moves on until she is done, then she’s out.

My ‘Eve’

"I was a girl setting another girl free. I was a girl channeling my need for revenge on a worth cause. I was a girl who'd closed an Errand and was that much closer to her own freedom."

We get to see ‘Sienna’ work an Errand. She does it effortlessly and effectively. This was a short little thing, but I really liked it. The ending set up the sequel perfectly and I can’t wait to read it! This Errand hits a little close to home for our 'Eve'... Lets hope its out soon!

“I generate temptation in order to import freedom. A freedom I was denied. How do I manipulate the temptation/freedom equation? I pluck the apple from the tree, in twenty-first century terms—infidelity.”

Great exploitations (Mischief in Miami) by Nicole Williams was my first ever read written by this author; and I never expected that I would going to love this one. I was really intrigued when I read the first few pages of this book. There were a lot of questions came to my mind like, “how”, “what” and “who” are the EVES.

“We’re known as the eves, a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the woman who had the temptation thing down.”

Honestly, I didn’t get it at first; but when it became clearer, the EVES are the I am really fascinated by the concept of this story, and I didn’t imagine that a genius author would work this out beautifully.

The main character, Sienna Stevens’ was an absolute bitch girl I ever known. Nicole Williams made her like a girl made of steel yet so vulnerable, her character was an intriguing one for me, and I was really disappointed because it was just a 90+ pages story, and I want to know more about her and the next “project” she will do.

I will not regret reading the next story of Nicole Williams; there was something in her work that you’ll be drawn, yet somehow you will feel a balance in the story. No whiny character, no insta-love, a reality bites and a good story. And I’m glad that I found this book, and I regret nothing. 4.5 stars for it!

Awesome beginning to what I hope to be a great series, totally different than what I am used to because this is no love story there is no romance, it's all just a game.

This was a short read to introduce us to the lifestyle of the Eves, their only job is to help women ”who would come out of the other end of a divorce with nothing. Not one damn dime because she fell in love, signed her name on some document, and the mister with a wandering eye and dick couldn’t keep either to himself.” The Eves are trained with everything they need to succeed in literally catching the husbands with their pants down, all it takes is one picture and the job is done.
“ I knew how it felt to have my whole life ruined because I’d been stupid enough to fall in love.”

The Meet ~ Where the Eve meets the wife, the Client. They go over all the rules and the client provides all the information the Eve needs in order to get her job done, his sexual preferences, his type and his routine.
"My body wasn’t my own to do whatever I wanted with it. It was on lease to the Eves until the day I retired or, lord forbid, the day I was disavowed.”

new image

The Greet ~ Where the Eve meets the husband, the Errand. The Eve changes her appearance to what they know would entice the Errand into wanting them, to get their attention to lure them into the trap.
“ It’s the day I pull out my credit card and didn’t stop swiping until I’d been dyed, tanned, styled, and primped into the ideal future MRTS.(mistress).”

The Heat ~ Where the Eve gets the Errand to a point to where they would do anything just to sleep with them.
“Why are you drawn to the older man then?”
“Experience. And if they’re single and older, that means they’re not looking for commitment--which holds no interest for me—and they have fewer inhibitions.”
“Fewer inhibitions in the bedroom?”
I shook my head before taking another sip of wine. ”Fewer inhibitions in every room”

The Heat ~ Where the Client gets the proof she needs to bring her husband to court and take half of everything.
“He was past the point of words. I’d never known a man who wasn’t when an Eve was astride him and implementing everything she learned.”

new image

Don't expect a connection because nothing is real, it's all about getting a job done. I think what drew me to the story is the Eve, and how they help bring down the men who take whatever it is they want, the cocky bastards who think they can get away from it all. There is no HEA, not unless you include the wife getting half. There is a small teaser into what is coming, a new errand, or should I say “the” Errand. I’ll definitely be picking the next one up once it’s released.

Extremely short yet very refreshing story. I’m so looking forward to reading the next (hopefully a lot longer) installment and how things will play out in Seattle.

BR with the wonderful Pavlina <3 <3 <3

So this was short...I thought I'd downloaded a sample, because it was moving so fast...but alas, it's just a preview of the real story. The real story that comes out god knows when...

What is this story about, you ask?

It's about this society of women specializing in framing rich men for infidelity so that they have to pay their soon-to-be ex-wives half of their fortunes. And we have beautiful (in a plastic kind of way) 25 year-old Sienna, an "employee" of this society of home-wreckers, who wants to catch the big fish - the business opportunity that will get her out of this job, the TEN. You see, she categorizes the jobs/men according to how much she'll earn after destroying framing them.

Is this little book about the TEN?

Hosted by imgur.com

It's about a sleazy EIGHT.

Only at the end does she get the job for the TEN she's been waiting for.

But this is where it gets interesting, because the TEN is actually .

I wish I could tell you more, but sadly, there's nothing more to tell. I'll have to wait for the sequel.

I didn't particularly like Sienna. She came across as a robot to me.

I'm giving it 3 stars. I really hated the sleazy EIGHT.

"Because I was in the business of Great Exploitations. And business was good."

I'm honestly kinda torn on how to rate this book. I felt like this laid the ground work for the next book Scandal in Seattle. This is a short read and it's interesting, but I would put my money on the fact that the next book will be full of drama, drama, drama and I can't wait for it.

Our main character works for G as an Eve since her recruitment years prior at mall where she was found miserable and heartbroken. She is in the business of being paid my wives to set up and sleep with their husband so the wife can win big in divorce court.

"We're the hiccups in society. We're woman without names. Our fingerprints can't be traced. We're invisible."

We follow "Sienna" as she works and completes a mission through this story. She shows a reader the ropes of trapping her target and working with the client and explains how the money end works. She frequently mentions approaching her own freedom.

"I was a girl setting another girl free. I was a girl channeling my need for revenge on a worth cause. I was a girl who'd closed an Errand and was that much closer to her own freedom."

Overall, this short story held my attention and piqued my curiosity for the next book. I'm excited to meet the man who broke her heart and how things will play out for our Eve. Next book is due this April.

Wow....what a fun little diddy this was! The concept was new and fresh and the writing was great. It was a novella, so it was a quick read but an enjoyable one nonetheless.

The interesting part is we never get the main characters name. She is an "Eve"...she was discovered by "G" in a cafe 5 years prior. She was in need of being rescued after having her heart broken.

"I generate temptation in order to impart freedom."

"I'm in the business of great exploitations."

Clients are women who are married to rich, cheating men. Generally the women have signed a pre-nup and feel they are entitled to "their half" because of the husbands cheating ways.

An Eve meets with the client (the wife), gathers information on the Errand (the husband), and then meets the Errand and sets up the "hit". The hit results in the Eve having sex with the Errand and filming so that the client has proof against her husband.

Mischief in Miami walks us through a transaction, through the exploitation process. It's almost like a set-up for the series. The transaction is successful and the book ends with the set-up for the next Errand. Only it turns out this Errand hits a little too close to home.

"My body wasn't my own to do whatever I wanted with it. It was on lease to the Eves until the day I retired or, lord forbid, the day I was disavowed."

Can't wait for the next book in the series--Scandal in Seattle!

Short but very refreshing story. I find very original the Eves. I loved the main female character, she is a total bitch.

Great start to what I hope to be a great series, nothing like anything I have read before because this is no love story there is no romance, it's all just a game.

description

description

description

description

Below is the synopsis for this book. However the last paragraph, the really interesting part of this story, does not occur in this book. I think it is important for readers to be provided with an honest synopsis so that we will have appropriate expectations.

”Seduction. Infidelity. Blackmail.

The payout would lead to her independence, but will the cost be too high in the end?”

I think the last paragraph is misleading because it sets the expectation that Sienna will address this conflict in Great Exploitations, when in fact this is a glimpse of a future book.

In my opinion Great Exploitation is more like a prequel. In this book we follow Sienna through the stages of an “Errand” (setting up cheating husbands so the wife will catch them violating their pre-nuptial agreement). We follow Sienna through the initial meeting with the client, the first meeting with the target and the completion of the assignment. We also learn a little about Sienna’s motivation and background.

The story itself was interesting and gives readers a good example of how technical and detached Sienna is to her assignments. Keep in mind this book is extremely short and can be read in two or so hours. As I stated, throughout this book we follow Sienna on a standard assignment…..then when that assignment is completed and Sienna receives her next job file the book ends with us learning of Sienna’s personal connection to the target. I think Great Exploitation provides excellent preparation for the last paragraph in the synopsis which I assume will occur in future installments. After learning of the personal connection to the next assignment I am excited to see where this series is heading and learning more about Sienna’s background.

"I stared at the photo of Mr. Ten. I stared at a familiar face. I stared at the face of the man I’d unwillingly imagined when I’d been with Mr. Silva.
I stared at the face of the man I’d loved. The same man who’d brought me to my own knees and taken every scrap of confidence I’d possessed five years ago.
By the time I’d caught my breath and calmed the shaking, my mind was made up. I was taking the Errand. I wouldn’t only take it, I would ruin him the way he’d ruined me. I would no longer have to exact my revenge on the lovers of other women—I could focus it on the one who deserved it all.
I wandered out of the bathroom a few minutes later, the file tucked under my arm, and I headed for the ticket counter. Goodbye, Miami. Hello, Seattle.
I was resolved. I was ready. I would make him feel every last drop of devastation I had.
Because I was in the business of Great Exploitations. And business was good."

urgh i want to give this 5 i really do because it was a great opener, but it just feels like the opening paragraph. i know nothing and i want to know more, i hate books that go like this, if the next book isn't a full book then i think its a huge mistake! this could be GREAT instead of good so i hope the author releases a large book and this was just the novella, i have no problem with paying more for a larger book! oh how i hope this isn't a 8 part series of little novellas, how are you supposed to stay attached to the story.characters when it keeps stopping and starting! I want who know who that billionaire ten is!?...

had to give it a 5 because i'm so intrigued but i pray the author listens and makes the next book a full length one! i think i'll cry if she doesn't :(

...just found out that its going to be a book a month! I JUST DO NOT GET IT! WHYYYY DO AUTHORS DO THIS I THINK ITS RIDICULOUS TO RELEASE BOOKS LIKE THIS, HAVE YOU EVER TRIED TO READ A BOOK AND READ A CHAPTER A MONTH, THE BOOK DOESNT HAVE THE SAME EFFECT..IT GETS BORING!! boo not happy!

I read this one in roughly 45 minutes. It's a novella, so it reads quickly, but also reads fast because it's dang good. There is so much story packed in, that it felt like a full novel. How did I feel after reading this one? I was frustrated that I don't have the second book! I absolutely loved this one.

Sienna lives an interesting life. I was intrigued after reading the synopsis, but I didn't fully understand the reasoning behind Sienna choice to be an Eve until I really got into the story. There is a reason Sienna joined the Eve's. She's good at what she does because she maintains a distance. She has vowed not to let anyone get into her heart. She's been there done that and it hurt bad. So...that's pretty much where we leave off. We know that Sienna has been wounded badly in the past. We also know that she has a connection with her next client. Intrigued yet? You should be.

Overall, I really loved this. I got so into the story that I was shocked when it was over. I'm anxiously waiting for the next novella called Scandal in Seattle, which may release sometime in June. If you are a fan of unique Adult Contemporaries, definitely check this one out. It was fun, sexy, and left me wanting more!

Well here's one I stumbled upon again. Fortunately for me it was wonderful!! This was a short read, just under 100 pages and I was completely intrigued by the plot. This is actually my first read by Nicole Williams, and I'm looking forward to more from her, especially the next installment of this series.

The heroine of this story belongs to an elite, secret group of women known as the Eves. These women are untraceable, and deal in one thing only... Bringing down the cheating husbands whose wives signed prenuptial agreements. However these women deal with men who are worth 7+ figures. She as a Eve, has cut off all ties with her past, no boyfriends, or one-night stands. She lives and breathes her job, and her past has made it easier to do this job. She fell in love once, and the out come was a lot like these women that hire her. Now she transforms herself in to whom ever the job requires her to be.

But the next job may be the most challenging yet! This could be the ticket to her freedom / retirement. It could also be the most difficult.

I'm really looking forward to the next installment to this series. This was such a breath of fresh air for me. It is different than anything I've read, and I really liked the heroine, and the ending left me wanting more. This is a prequel that actually came before the series, this is setting up the series. It's just enough to rope you in. I sure hope Nicole Williams doesn't keep me waiting too long!!

Such a great concept. The Eves are the girls that seduce the married men after their wives hire them to do so. Rich men, pre-nups and unhappy wives and women trained in the art of seduction.

"Eve" or "Sienna" is on her way to Miami to seduce the husband of a wife who suspects he is cheating. She is unhappy in her marriage and won't get a penny if she leaves him unless she can prove that he cheated. So enter the Eves. Studying their target, becoming their wet dream then seduce them with ensuring the client knows where so she can have her PI snap a few photos.

But "Sienna" is a broken girl - having had her heart broken by a past lover five years prior - this was her perfect new life until she could find her mark - her 10. Then she could gain her freedom and start over.

This is a cliffhanger ending - she is getting ready to find her next target, but this one might be more than just a job.

I really enjoyed the concept of this book, and was easily captured...and then it ended :-( I guess we will be excitedly awaiting Scandal in Seattle and am hopeful the story lasts a bit longer.

To end on a more positive note, I really enjoyed Sienna's justification of her existence as an Eve, "a member of a secret society of women contracted by the wives of wealthy, powerful men for one reason and one reason only: to seduce their husbands. To ensure their pre-nuptial agreement will be null and void thanks to a little loophole known as the Infidelity Clause. To ensure that those wives don’t find themselves on the other side of a divorce without a penny to their name." Her ability to stay at the top of her game by methodically researching her errand, becoming his hearts desire and, above all, not getting personal...next stop..Seattle!

Nicole nunca me defrauda.

Adiós, Miami. Hola, Seattle.
Estaba resuelto. Estaba lista.

"We’re known as the Eves, a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the woman who had the temptation thing down….We’re the hiccups in society. We’re women without names. Our fingerprints can’t be traced. We’re invisible."

Short and interesting. Engaging and unique. I love the way the author loathe conceited men. ;)
