3.5 really. Beginning and ending great, middle a slog. Otherwise another bang bang adventure thriller

Another good book in this series. This time the Assassin must work with the Police to stop another Assassin. There is another story included, that is solved with his aid. This series can be read in order or as a stand alone. I liked the book.

Good

The book is good and very entertaining although the plot is impossible and well ... it is difficult to imagine that this would happen. But then again it is a novel. If you want real life better read the newspaper.

As all Blake's books this one is also non-stop action from the first to the last page. And of course, I couldn't stop reading cus I wanted to know what was going to happen to the assassin.

Another great story in the Assassin series. Russell Blake is a great writer keeping the reader engaged and interested in what is coming next. This one was weird for Cruz, having to work with El Rey, but he pulled it off. Very enjoyable read. 5

Favorite of the series so far

Writer is excellent, keeps you on your toes by not giving you all the answers, excellent factual information interspersed with fiction. Sadly the way our world really is, the rules don't apply to those with enough wealth.

Fast paced. Kept my interest until the final page. Unexpected twists and turns that I didn't see coming. My kind of book.

Interesting

Well clearly the protagonist is El Rey with Cruz as a minor player. Cruz, the honest federal police captain fighting the good fight against the corrupt system.

Decent addition. It had been a while since I read book #3, but I was able to catch up rather easily. Looking forward to the next novel.

Usual assassin features

The story was swift and to the point. Assassin against assassin was unusual but the actual plot was a tad predictable unfortunately.
Not as good as previous novels but satisfactory as books go.

I was concerned that perhaps I should read the first books in this series, but I read a post by the author saying that this can be read as a stand-alone, and he was correct.
As is usual with Mr. Blake's books, this one moves right along. the fact that it's set in Mexico is unique, and the author writes convincingly about politics within the police.
The most fascinating aspect for me was the author's portrayal of the assassin. When I think back on similar characters by other authors, they're usually one-dimensional, but in this case, I confess to liking the guy.
An exciting, well-crafted thriller. I recommend it.

I've read all the assassin books and this last one is my favorite. Seeing El Rey's character change and how the others reacted to it made the novel. Also the author's uncanny description of emotions, really getting inside each of their heads made the tale feel very real. Can't wait to see what's next for El Rey and Cruz.

Best Blake Book Ever!

I literally could not put this book down. Mr. Blake has crafted his finest work yet. What's better than one assassin?
Two of them, on opposite sides. Who wins?
You'll have to read it to find out.
Fans of Blake's work will appreciate this one.
I heartily recommend it!

As always, Blake kept me on the edge of my seat, and left me wanting more. He's so good at writing a story that's complete in and of itself, but subtly let's you know there's more to come. "Remember your promise"---three little words that could lead to anything in the future.

Best book in the assassin series. What's nice is how El Rey changes and how Cruz and everyone else interacts with him. This novel is somehow more emotional than the previous ones, and I found it to be a more fulfilling read because of it. Can't wait to see what happens next for El Rey and Cruz.

Stereotypical premise. Cardboard characters. Trite dialogue.

Can't finish it.

I have come to expect a bit more from russel Blake, this book was an ok read, but it lacked the usual style particularly with el Rey now working with the police.
