Thresls are rare shapeshifting creatures that can only be born on one planet in the universe. In order to transform from beast to man they have to bond with a human mate. Once transformed they are forever bound to the one they’ve chosen, however, sometimes what should be an automatic process turns into a traumatic event.

While mates and enemies battle for the good of the Thresls, the cat creatures themselves will ultimately have to decide if they want a planet of pure bred shifters or if they can make room for their half-bred children and stubborn human mates.

Prince Claimed by Amber Kell

<2>Book two in The Thresl Chronicles Series

If you enjoyed Touch & Geaux (Cut & Run) by Abigail Roux and White Knight and Black Fur by Joyee Flynne then this is absolutely perfect for you!

When fate spins two lives into turmoil, rising above their issues may be the only way to find true love.

Prince Bleine always had female mates before. As a Thresl he’d never been given a choice. The animal within chose who it chose. However when his brother-in-law Kreslan mates Bleine to a man in order to save his life, Bleine quickly learns to adapt and that what he's always thought he wanted isn’t exactly what he needs.

Sarler left his home planet to escape their restrictive ways. Interested in pursuing his interest in men, he had been unsure how to start. When he is inadvertently bonded to Prince Bleine, he is struck by how little he understands about handsome princes or life at court.

Secrets and mysteries surround them. Can they discover everything about each other while keeping their enemies at bay? When Sarler is injured, he realises he has to take a chance if he ever hopes to find love with the prince of his dreams. Can he convince Bleine that he sincerely wants to give their relationship a try, or has he waited until it’s too late?

Amber Kell has made a career out of daydreaming. It has been a lifelong habit she practices diligently as shown by her complete lack of focus on anything not related to her fantasy world building.

When she told her husband what she wanted to do with her life he told her to go have fun.

During those seconds she isn't writing she remembers she has children who humor her with games of 'what if' and let her drag them to foreign lands to gather inspiration. Her youngest confided in her that he wants to write because he longs for a website and an author name—two things apparently necessary to be a proper writer.

Despite her husband's insistence she doesn't drink enough to be a true literary genius she continues to spin stories of people falling happily in love and staying that way.

She is thwarted during the day by a traffic jam of cats on the stairway and a puppy who insists on walks, but she bravely perseveres..

She also writes under the name Mikela Q. Chase

I didn't feel the connection between the MCs. The story read like one big miscommunication that got fixed because one of them got hurt. Plus it ended so abruptly. Meh.

** Here be spoilers. **

It’s really important to focus very hard on ignoring certain inconsistencies with this one, or the enjoyment might go down the drain. With some books I can’t manage to do that. In this case I seemed to be okay with living in the moment for a while.

Stating it has been three days since the end of the previous books is all nice and good, but does not mesh with the sense I get from both Bleine’s and Sarler’s thoughts regarding their interactions with others in the mean time. This is just the tip of the iceberg, though.

I can ignore things like if the last book’s bitchy villain had never bonded before and human children of Thresl had only weak powers, how it’s possible that she was human-shaped.
Or whether Bleine’s first bond mate was killed in his absence as stated in book one or died in his arms, as stated here.

But I cannot ignore it when Sarler thinks how he has always been drawn to Bleine’s cryo chamber when Bleine has been in there for one or two days at the most. Jeez. I guess it’s immersion-breaking when it messes with the main relationship like that.
Time is an icky, brittle thing in this.

Because, grr. So the old palace was destroyed only a few hundred years ago? Yet this happened before Bleine and his brother were small and played there (I must assume they were cats, because!), likely even before they were born since they apparently never set foot in the place before. How the fuck can Vohne have been reincarnating for two thousand years then?
Let’s not even get into the mess with Bleine and his blowjob remark that makes zero sense, given he realistically can only have been intimate with two other people before: his two female mates. As such, trying to save it by saying he hasn’t had a great deal of practise is still an understatement of epic proportions.

Oh well. Moving on.

To my vast disappointment Bleine has to go and be a complete and utter moron – for no reason I can detect – by going on his search alone. The feel of the story changes at that point as well.

At first this is a full-on romance, then it becomes focused on something entirely different, then it goes back to the romance.
Somewhere along that path I admit I got bored. And then un-bored again, but I never quite recovered that level of interest.

When the epilogue begins, the story feels unresolved on all counts. Particularly between the protagonists. Both still seem to be unsure of each other. The epilogue itself alleviates this issue slightly but I don’t get a vibe of closeness remotely like I did and still do with the first pairing in the series.
Maybe this goes with the territory of Bleine and Sarler. Neither struck me as particularly interesting or showed that much personality.

Eh. Saint was cool. Although it’s a bit odd that it seems as though he scents his bond mate at the end, yet the next volume deals with another couple.

Prince Bleine and Sarler story isn't a long one, but enjoyable enough. The main storyline of deception develops slowly on. In this part we get a new royal thresl named Saintaron. He is the uncle of Prince Bleine and King Vohne. Saint looks to be an interesting character. I'm looking forward to the next part of Thresl Chronicles.

3.75** I probably would have rated this higher.. But I'm getting frustrated with all the continuations.... Then having to wait so long for the next installment. I get and love '' series ''. That's not the issue... My issue is the FOREVER CLIFFHANGERS! at the end of all Amber 's books. Love the books.. But wait is becoming annoying.

Disclaimer: I’m biased because I love the Thresl world.

This is book two in the Thresl Chronicles and I’ve been expecting this for quite a while. However if I want to be completely honest I felt a bit disappointed and the reasons were plenty.

First and foremost, dear author, please give us more time with our beloved characters, and yes, this is me throwing a tantrum here and even stomping my foot down. It was one of my issues with the previous book as well, feeling like Vohne and Kreslan were robbed out of “alone time”, but in this book it’s a bigger issue. You see I love Blaine a lot and when he was “forcibly” mated with Sarler in the end of Soldier Mine I expected a huge story here. But as it is the occasion with the Thresl Chronicles we jump head first to action with no stops in between from the very start. That is something I love about this series, but please, please, some claiming time for the mates next time, because the acceptance of their bond and the transition from not being gay to I’m a gay mate went a bit abruptly. Once that was done though, well, I went all starry-eyed for this pair.

Second issue I got with this book is that we didn’t get to see how Bleine changed for Sarler and vice versa. That personality adjustment that is supposed to happen between Thresl-Human mates, didn’t happen and well, I’m pouting… We didn’t get to know the pair as a pair at all.

And my final issue is that there is a whole lot background and history in Sarler’s life that we didn’t get to know. What was the deal with his parents? And the attacks just didn’t make too much sense in the plot, they rather felt like fillers.

Anyhow we did get insight on the Thresl lore again and I couldn’t be happier. Have I said how much I love this world already? Yeah, there is so much more to be expected from this series. We were introduced to Vohne and Bleine’s uncle, and dear Lord he is a very interesting Thresl. I for one don’t trust him although I’m fascinated by him. There is something fishy about dear uncle and I can’t wait for the next installment that will definitely feature him as a protagonist.

Now with all the above I feel like I haven’t praised the book at all, probably because my expectations are way too high. I did love the Prince Claimed, I loved the pace and the fact that you don’t get a boring stretch here at all. If you’ve already read the first book then you’ll love this one too albeit in comparison the first one is superior. If you haven’t then I suggest you go grab it and dive into this world for I doubt that this book can stand alone at all.

As for me I’ll stay put and patiently stew over waiting for the next one to come hoping that Saint will not be the shadowy figure I suspect him to be.

Like the first book, this sequel is fascinating. Full of interesting alien cultural details, additional revelations of the Thresl situation, and introducing two characters we briefly met in Soldier Mine. They have a ton of issues, and the sparks fly, but in a quieter, more emotional way than in book one. Kreslan, the human, and Vohne, the Thresl one true king, are back as well and they add a flavor that makes the whole action/adventure more exciting.

Prince Bleine is dedicated to Thresl survival, and held out for a whole century while his brother, Vohne, was gone. Now that he has been "emergency mated" to a human who doesn't seem to want him, he is desperate. He needs a mate to remain sane, but has lost both previous ones to death. Both also happened to be women, so the fact that Sarler is a man has him thrown for a loop. But only for a while, he adapts very quickly. Then it is up to him to make Sarler see they have potential as a couple.

Sarler is an empath from a planet where gay men are killed when caught. It was the main reason why he left, but now that he has the opportunity to find out about male/male love, he finds himself inhibited and uncertain. Deep-seated fear of getting caught is difficult for him to overcome, and it takes him a while to understand that it is okay to admit how much he wants Bleine.

If you like paranormal stories with a 'different' type of shapeshifter, tons of secrets and some intricate court politics, and two hot men falling in love while trying to figure out if that is what they want, and if you're looking for a fascinating, different world, then you will probably like this story.

I reviewed the first book in this series, Soldier Mine. This book has a new publisher and the first book has been re-released after getting a new cover and edits. (You can find it on Amazon for .99).

When Prince Bleine woke up bonded to another male, empath Sarler because he would have died if he didn’t find a mate immediately, he was open to the change. Even though his last two mates had been female, he was attracted to Sarler and willing to give it a go. However, his intended wasn’t as happy or as accepting. In between trying to woo his new mate, find out who wants to kill his brother, the King, and tracking down a long-lost relative, Prince Bleine is having an exciting, if not stressful time.

What I loved about the first book in this series, I also enjoyed in this one. The world building is superb, I adored the futuristic paranormal angle and the standard bonding trope is fresh and original with Ms. Kell’s creation of Thresels. Add in some political intrigue with rogue militants trying to overthrow Bleine’s brother from the throne and you have the perfect build-up in this installment to keep the momentum going where Soldier Mine left off.

My only complaint was that Bleine and Sarler’s romance seemed overshadowed by some of the political intrigue. At eighty-eight pages, there wasn’t enough meat to their story to make my rating higher. Yes, we got to see Kreslan and Vohne from book one, who are still delightful, but I wanted more time with Sarler and Bleine!

But, in my opinion the book is saved from a lower rating by the addition of a new character in Bleine’s missing uncle, Saint. A Thresl who can shift back and forth between his forms. He’s such an interesting character, he nearly takes over the last third of the book…but I loved him regardless. I cannot wait for his book.

To conclude, I am really enjoying this series that Amber Kell has created. I think it will appeal to paranormal and sci-fi readers alike.

I really enjoyed the first book in this series. The idea of alien cat shifters mating with their humans was really appealing to me. This book is the sequel and the continuation of a few of the story threads from the first book. It wasn't as good as the first book for a few reasons, but it was still a good read that left me eager for the next book to find out what happens next.

Prince Bleine tries to wait patiently for his new mate Sarlar to get used to the situation, but he despairs his mate will ever accept him because he's male. Bleine is determined to release Sarlar from their mate bond if he can find a way not wanting to tie someone to him who doesn't wish to be and Bleine also decides that he is done trying for a new mate.

Sarlar is still reeling from being suddenly mated to the Thresl Prince and to being in an open male/male relationship which is frowned upon on his home world. He comes to the decision that he really wants to be with Bleine, but things start to happen and he now fears that he's too late.

Vohne, Kres and Bleine are in a race to find and interpret the ancient prophesies, discover the traitors on their planet and keep the royals safe. Just when they think they've drawn closer to some answers more secrets are revealed- dangerous secrets.

While I really enjoyed the race the heroes are all in to discover the traitors and uncover their plot and I really enjoyed the slow to grow romance between Bleine and Sarlar, I found the ending abrupt and I felt that this installment was just missing something. Maybe it was that connection that I felt between Vohne and Kres that spoiled me since Bleine and Sarlar didn't seem to spend as much time together.

Hopefully, the next installment will return some of what I missed from the first book. And hopefully, we'll get more of that intriguing black Thresl that was introduced in this story.

There is something I see happen on occasion in romances that involves bond mates, destined mates, or where there is something other than just true love at play. That something happened in the pages of Prince Claimed and it stole my romance. Bleine and Sarler became bond mates in the previous book. Both being straight men I just knew there would be an amazing love story with their book. They were going to have to find a way to their happily ever after. They would have struggles to overcome as a bonded pair of essentially strangers. These were things I was looking forward to. I was greatly disappointed. The bond solved all the potential issues. I need a little romance with insta-mate.

There were some advancements made within the world. Bleine and Vohne are researching the Theslan history, prophecies, and translated journals from a powerful seer. As with all prophecies they have vague hints to possible occurrences. There is still some turmoil that Vohne must settle. I have to admit this was the portion of the book that I found most fascinating. I especially enjoyed what Bleine found while on an expedition trip. I also hope to see more of that in the next book.

I do plan to continue reading Amber Kell’s Thresl Chronicles. I’ve enjoyed the world and how it works. I’m also curious where several things are going. The new things that were introduced in this installment of the series has me very curious.

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-
Away-book like
‘Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd,
‘Save the kids' series from EM Leya,
‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or
'Liberty' from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a
WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises
(like most of Andrew Grey books and
Davidson Kings 'Haven Hart'-series)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few
times a year (most romances where you can
enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader,
maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-
reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but
it was ok). It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too
many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an
absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole
line, dismissed, repeat the class

This story really is a 3.5 star rating for me. I liked Soldier Mine quite a bit ... but was really anxious for the overall story to be further in the sequel. When it finally came out as Prince Claimed, I was very excited.

That being said, I felt a bit let down when I finished reading Sarler and Bleine's story. There was so much potential story left not shown, I felt a bit disappointed. We got a heap of info about the Thresl society and their history, which was absolutely fabulous. I felt like a lot of that was missing in the first book in the series. However, the author went a little bit too far in that direction.

I feel like we lost a lot of the relationship between Sarler and Bleine. One of the fascinating things with the Thresl's is how they bond and change to match their 'person'. We didn't get to see that, and I missed it. The set up with all of Bleine's history, his past partner's, and his new 'gay for you' relationship was under-written, imo.

I dearly enjoy Amber Kell's writing, however, and will buy the next book in this series, probably the same day it comes out, lol. I just hope that when she writes that one, she balances the characters' stories along with the underlying plot a bit better.

Following on from where Soldier Mine left off, the attention turns to Prince Bleine and his new mate Sarler.

Mated to save Prince Bleine's life, the bonding is something new for both men, as neither had a relationship with a male before. Bleine's two previous mates had been female, while Sarler, it seems, hadn't had any previous relationships at all...

In a few short days, both men find the pull of the bonding overwhelming, and they decide that maybe they should give this new bonding a chance...

For the most part, I found this pairing very predictable and, to be honest, boring. However, it's worth reading for the chance to see more of Vohne and Kreslan, as well as further development of the conspiracy to see the royal family removed. For me, the most interesting part of this novella is the introduction of a new character -- a character who seems to have had a role in the destruction of the old palace, and was banished by Vohne's and Bleine's father.

This really appears to be a bit of a "filler" story - something to fill in time before getting to the next significant installment of the Thresl Chronicles.

I liked the first one and I liked this one. I need my regular fix of the mate-mine-bond stories.
Bleine a Thresls Prince was 'emergency bonded' to the human Sarler.
Sarler is an empath and as far as I can tell a very closeted gay, since his home planet kills gays, it's very hard for him to overcome his fear and allow the bond with Bleine to happen.
Then as in the last book there is a crazy or two who tries to murder a MC and this one adds Vohne and Bleine's long lost and betrayed Uncle.
The two mated pairs are stable and happy at the end and Saint ( the huge ,scary, talented and mysterious Uncle) smells something yummy, so I'm guessing he's found his mate..I even have a hope for who it is..but beware the overreaching arc of the stories is ongoing, so..the deep and far reaching betrayal isn't anywhere close to being solved.

I have enjoyed her stories but I keep wishing they weren't so short. Which was a problem with Prince Claimed. A lot of information is squeezed into the pages (around 80 according to Goodreads) to give you a feel for the story and make you understand how the couple come to their happy ever after. But it's not quite enough. It's like a quote from Twilight that talks about living off animal blood: it's filling but not quite satisfying. The meat of this story was missing. It wasn't a bad story, I just wish I had seen more thoughts from Prince Bleine and Sarler. More instances where they interacted with others so I could get a feel for their personalities. Still, Kell writes original and entertaining M/M stories I will continue to buy despite their short lengths.

There was potential that this story just didn't live up to. The main characters went from zero to sixty in literally two pages, and then every conversation thereafter revolved around the same subject 'does he, or doesn't he' want me as his mate, even though they'd each already stated on numerous occasions that yes, they wanted to be mates. The attacks felt totally random and completely unresolved because their attackers are pretty much immediately killed off, its like their was no planning behind why they were written in, they were just put there because something interesting needed to happen. I really like Amber kell, she's done some good stuff but this book just plain sucked. This doesn't mean I wont read her other works, I'll just be a hell of a lot more selective about them.

While I quite enjoyed this book, there were too many inconsistencies that kept pulling me out of the story. Such as when Sarler first encounters the Threslan nurse and gets her name, then doesn't know her name at the end of the story or when Blaine said he didn't have much practice giving blow jobs. Shouldn't he have had none? After all, he'd only ever been mated to women before Sarler and in between those he was stuck in a cryo-chamber. When the heck did he have time to give other men blow jobs?

A quick read with good see, good plot movement, and familiar characters that I liked from the first book. I'm excited to read about Saint a few books from now and to see more about Blein and Sarler in subsequent books too. There's always a little more in each book and I'm glad for that since these books are so very short that all the pairings have a quick and dirty courtship. While not fully believable, I'm just suspending all notions of rationale and reasonable romantic progression so it doesn't detract from my enjoyment.

Quite disappointing. No where near as good as the first. I'm not even sure the mates were a good match. I feel like the book is simply a medium to continue the backstory in the series as opposed to making the couple the main focus.
Not to mention the one sex scene lacked passion and lust. It did very little to reassure me of the couples relationship.
I'm bummed since I had really looked forward to the continuation of this series but now I'm not so sure. ...2.5stars

The mates in this story were forced together. They didn't really have a say and while one is willing to give their newly found relationship a try the other just pushes the attempts away. Like the first one, events in this one happen quickly and the mates quickly get their act together. While the story wasn't really bad, I found it hard to accept that these two MC's were actually in love.

It sort of just ended with too many things unresolved. Bleine and Sarler's story took the backseat from the building up of the main plot. There was really not much going on with them except for their issue of acceptance of each other. However, I still enjoyed reading this because I'm excited about the main story arc. I wonder who Saint smelled delicious? :D

I enjoyed this one as much as I did book One. We get to meet the characters from book one and follow the romance of the King's brother Bleine. We also get to meet some interesting new characters and have an even more intriguing storyline to follow. Overall this was up to Amber Kell's usual standards and has made me eager to get hold of the rest of the Thresl Chronicle stories

I really enjoyed it. It took the couple a little to get to know each other, before they could make it work. I thought that was more realistic. It's not just about wat the animal/heart wants, but also the head. Despite being inadvertently mated, I did feel they were a good match and belonged together. Oh...and the sex was already better in this one.
