One of my favorite music books ever, U2 overload for the serious fan. So many anecdotes and great stories from gigs. A particular favorite of mine is Bono ordering 10,000 pizzas for the fans (I believe in Detroit) in 1992: how awesome would that be? The pizza guys could only make a hundred or so in time, but still cool.
Most every single performance U2 has played is given a setlist, or an extensive review. You learn about their big tours, but also about the smaller, lesser known tours (the Amnesty of Hope tour they did for Amnesty International in 1985; the Australian exclusive Lovetown tour with B.B. King). This edition is updated to include all of the Elevation tour, which I am looking forward to reading about. The author, Pimm Jal De La Parra was a life long U2 fan who unfortunately passed away during the making of this updated edition: he left a great legacy and an absolute delight for any degree of U2 fan. I could read this book for hours!
Before the World Wide Web made tracking concert tours, set lists, etc. as easy as it is today, this book exhaustively collected information on every live performance by U2 (and was updated after every major tour). It is a fascinating piece of documentation -- one I highly recommend to U2 fans who've relied only on the WWW for archival information on U2's live performances.
