The Perfect Man with So Many Secrets.

Garrick Fane was a brilliant lawyer, but all his wealth and power seemed useless to save his marriage to Elise Adler Bright. Once, the stunning, surprising model had lost herself in his midnight eyes and made them both believe they'd found a love without end... until Elise uncovered a shocking betrayal and insisted they separate. Sizzling passion had masked too much unspoken pain on both sides. Garrick knew he'd never truly be free of his obsession for this beautiful, humorous woman--and she did not imagine he'd reveal the private agony that compelled him to hide behind a wall of control. But when a terrifying accident shattered all their defenses, Elise and Garrick had one last chance to heal the heartbreak that had driven them apart, to know the dark and lonely places each had deep within. Could she persuade the lone wolf who'd captured her star in his hand that when she closed her eyes, all she saw was the man she loved?

This was a very interesting HQ, more in depth and introspective than one usually expects.

The basic story is that the h owns/runs a modeling agency and the H is a big shot rich lawyer. They meet and it's lust at first sight, but now, 2 years after their whirlwind courtship they are legally separated. The h feels as if she's spent her marriage pretending to be the perfect wife and that whatever she felt for the H has died in the 2 years of indifference.

Both the H and h spend their marriage just skimming the surface of each other, both hide important parts of themselves and, even though they've been married for years, they don't really know much about each other. For most of the book, I wasn't really sure how the h felt, she seems disappointed that she failed at her marriage, but not really in love with the H. It isn't until near the end that she has something of an epiphany and realizes she's been lying to herself about how she felt, because she feared the hurt that would follow( and surprising, I actually bought the "I've lied to myself" bit, instead of rolling my eyes). With the H, it's more obvious that his feelings run deep. He's the strong/silent type... Yet it's clear from the get go, even though he's all cool sophistication that he's crazy about the h. A series of events push the H/h together and they have to work through misconceptions, mistakes each have made and barriers both have erected to protect themselves. There is also an interesting cast of side characters including the h selfish mother and recently returned best friend and an emotionally unbalanced OW.

All and all, totally worth the read :)
