The Crypto-Squad assembles and mobilizes against a global threat when The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse began to wreak havoc in every corner of the world. This is a battle royale of freakish proportions that pits Sasquatch, Mothman, El Chupacabra, and a host of other strange creatures against Death, Famine, Pestilence, and War in a showdown where earth is the prize.

In the second installment of the series we meet some new characters, get to know more about some old ones, and meet and battle the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. This is a case of brains over brawn. With Pestilence, Famine, War, and Death on a mission to release hell on earth it is up to the Crypto Squad to figure out how to stop the world from coming to an end. If you are a fan of Cryptids and action, this is an action packed series worthy of your time.
As Sandoval lay dying, he was able to do one last spell, feeding the blood of the serpant God into the ground to awaken the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse-Death, Famine, Pestilence and War. They each choose a part of the world to bring their special disasters to and now only the Crypto Squad can stop them.
Humanoid rabbit, Jack, travelled through space and time to escape a new kind of zombies called Weepers, who infect through their tears. When he arrives and is taken to the base, Jimi is called in to read his mind and what he sees is so scary that he insists that Jack is detained and frozen until it is time to add him to the Crypto Squad. Now that the Four Horsemen are on the march, it is time to see if Jack is willing to help them. With War turning humans into a killing mob in Canada, Famine killing crops in Iowa, Death sucking the life out of plants and animals in Peru and Pestilence turning out a plague in China, the team are running out of time. When the Four join up, Earth is doomed.
Jack features in other books by Eric S Brown which I haven't read so this was my first sight of him. I admit that a gunslinger time travelling rabbit is very interesting and the perfect addition to the team! As always, I love Jimi but he is in trouble this time as his psychic powers are enough enough to save the squad when they start getting into deadly danger at the trouble spots around the world caused by the Horsemen. The Horsemen are a lot tougher to stop in this book so we see the team having to use every plan and resource just to stay alive.
The book is about seventy pages this time but it was an enjoyable and tense read as our team face more dangerous enemies than the first adventure. I liked it and again it has that great cartoon cover that you get from Eric S Brown on all his books. More B movie monster fun from Jimi and the gang.
