Alex rocks. Like seriously rocks. Alex has some incredibly amusing thought processes that really made me laugh. She’s got a hell of an attitude, and comes out with some pretty witty quips.

She’s strong, with a multitude of weaknesses – first and foremost? She doesn’t want to use her magic… unfortunately she’s being forced to, as she tried to protect and fight off the threats surrounds her.

The characterisation developed in this novella is a hell of a set up for the rest of the Invisible Recruit Series, and I can’t wait to get my hands on the other books. The characters are richly described, they all have their own secrets, and they are all there for one reason or another. You realise that this book becomes a fight for their survival as they try and understand that someone else is pulling the strings.

There is a lot of back story built into this book, that allows the reader to really get a feel for the world building that Mary Buckham has developed, and she pulls it off seamlessly. There are broken relationships, death, bizarre happenings, and of course bonds that are made to be broken. This is a fast paced book, and a fast read. If you’re anything like me, you’ll devour the book pretty damn quickly.
This is a definite must read for anyone who enjoys a bit of a thrill, a good laugh, and great characters with attitude.

It was fun, witty, gripping, and the characters were great. With these types of dynamics woven with the myths and unknown, it was a great plotline.

Invisible Prison isn't my favorite genre--so why did I read it twice?

First, the magic was superbly handled. (As a professional psychic, I'm sometimes disappointed by good books that mess up the magic. But everything here worked for me, and I loved her background as the child of a witch and a shaman.)

And then there's the pacing. This story kept me reading without giving me "reader's whiplash". There was something of interest page after page, and it left me eager for the next book in the series.

Creative New Author For Me

Imaginative and fun take on the supernatural by an exquisite writer. Superb character development, exciting action, powerful spells and forces to be reckoned with, had me read this novella in one sitting. The author, Mary Buckham, knows how to get a reader's attention, hold it and leaves the reader satisfied with the conclusion. Clever remarks make you laugh out loud and are used as tension relief, throughout. The highly entertaining storyline makes for a refreshing read!

Absolutely brilliant. A must read for anyone that enjoys a book about witches, faes, Weres. and demons. I purchased this late in the night and woke up in the wee hours of the morning to finish it. Alex Noziak is absolutely one of the strongest lead female characters I've read in a while. I can't wait to crack open another one of Mary Buckhams books!!

Invisible Prison was my first book by Mary Buckham, but it certainly won't be my last. This novella is a great adventure filled with magic, a kick-ass heroine, a sexy and mysterious "Mercenary Guy" type male lead, lots of action/adventure and the formation of a top-secret group of non-humans whose purpose will be revealed in Buckham's acclaimed "Invisible Recruits" series. I like the way this woman writes: Fast, witty, action-packed and laced with magic. I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

This novella is so fast-paced that you are turning the pages with your heart in your chest the entire time. When you hit the end, you will demand the next book!

I absolutely loved this book. It kept me wanting more. I wish that Been-There would've survived and gone with Alex though, but that's me, always pulling for the under dog :D Can't wait to read more of Mary's Invisible Series.

This is not a romance story nor is it a scary story. Invisible Prison is a novella that introduces a new series called the Invisible Recruit series. This book has magic, fighting and many different supernatural or non-humans as they are called in this book. There is a lot of action as well as a little mystery added in. After reading this novella I am really looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

Alex is given an option to serve life in prison or serve for a year as an Invisible Recruit. If she makes it past the training and serves her year then she would be free. Alex is a very strong woman with a kick butt attitude. The other females in this group are also very strong and determined. Can they come together and become an unbeatable team?

This story introduces us to the 5 main characters for the series but mainly focuses on Alex. It starts out before she is offered the position and then continues as she is trained and other recruits are weeded out.

I will definitely be reading this series and look forward to seeing where Alex and the other girls are headed.

*I received this book free from author in return for an honest review.*

One word of advice... this is highly addictive. I’ve discovered Mary Buckham with “Invisible Journey”, when I volunteered to be one of the beta readers for the fourth book in her “Invisible Recruits Series”. I’ve had “Invisible Prison” on my Kindle for a while but it was on my TBR (to be read) list and I figured I’d get to it when I’d get to it. But, after being involved in “Invisible Journey”, I told myself I had to start because I was curious to see if I would love it as much as I’ve loved “Invisible Journey”.

Well, the answer to my question was a resounding YES. I was totally drawn into Alex Noziak’s world. You have a bit of everything in those “Invisible Recruits” books – action, adventure, paranormal, love and hate... everything. It’s the type of book that grabs you from the start and keeps your interest till the end – well, at least, that’s what it did for me.

I highly recommend this series and I’m looking forward to read all the full-length novels.

Invisible Prison introduce Alex Noziak, a like-able young woman in a difficult situation. Part witch and part shaman, Alex is faced with a choice: serve a life-sentence in prison or serve a year in the service of a secret agency that claims to want to keep the secret of non-humans (witches, weres, etc.)while keeping enforcing the balance between them and the non-magic humans. Of course, just like Alex, you have to wonder what a year of service involves that makes it worth commuting a life sentence. Nothing easy, that's for sure.
This novella is a great introduction to the Invisible Recruits series. The writing keeps a lively pace, each chapter with an ending that forced my bedtime well past its normal hour. I'm looking forward to reading the next installment in this series, but I think I'll try to start it early in the day so I have a shot at getting enough sleep!

Terrific novella. Alex Noziak, American Indian, part-witch, part-shaman kicks butt for a newly formed government agency.
I loved this book! Could not put it down, and urban fantasy is not generally my favorite read.
Mary Buckham has created fascinating characters who draw you in and don't let go.
And once you're hooked, the novella is a lead-in for the upcoming full-length books in her new series.
Highly recommended read.

Alex, daughter of a witch and a shaman, sister to 4 shifter brothers, knows she's got power. It's what landed her in jail. And in this prequel to the Invisible Recruits series, she learns that her powers, the same ones that got her in trouble, could actually help the people she's been hired to work for.

A fast, well written novella that introduces a new series, Alex is a smart, sassy character that will have me looking to get the rest of the series.

I found this book/author by listening to a podcast, done by Hank Garner "Author Stories." Go and listen... Then download this story.

Invisible Prison is great it is a start to what looks like an awesome series. There is plenty of action while Alex has to bond with her new formed team and discover who is trying to kill her...

This book have greatly improved my american slang vocaboulary.
I learned *several* very colorful way of saying like "dog-and-pony show" "beeswax" "casino-owner" "kudos", and a lot of racist and other *bad* words that might be useful if I ever go to america (just to understand if I'm being insulted or complimented) but I won't repeat those here.

So if you're not born in usa keep an open browser on the urbandictionary.com website so to have a fresh translation.

A part from that it's a quite funny story, and I enjoyed reading it.
Could improve quite a lot with some editing, but then maybe an editor would clean up the english, so maybe it's better this way.

In this novella we are introduced to Alex Noziak, a half witch/half shaman who is tough, smart and witty. I loved her character - I want more! Even if I did not enjoy the story (which I totally did...immensely!!) I would continue the series just to have more of Alex. Fantastic writing and imagery make this story un-put-downable. I'm saying that's a word, just go with it. If you love urban fantasy and paranormal, this is a story you need to read! I'm looking forward to reading more Invisible Recruits books and getting to know Alex better.

I bought this book and am reviewing it because I loved it and because I love the author. :)

Prequel novella for the Invisible Recruit series by Mary Buchan. Witches, were, shifter world. Engaging, interesting, powerful, and entertaining. I really enjoyed this series start and look forward to the reading the next one.
I found it compelling that in the Team Building exercise that real problems and solutions were dealt with as well as leadership concepts. This author either did some extensive research or has been through this type of workshop. Very nicely done.

I don't know quite what I expected from this book but it wasn't what I got. This was a totally new slant on paranormal/preternatural.

It drew me in from the very first line.

The Invisible Recruits training was gripping and I'm really looking forward to following the story.

The book was well written and the characters and their dialogue realistic.

A really great start to this series.

I wanted to love this, but it was just okay. The writing was excellent especially for a book that was self published. That aspect of the this blew me away. The world building was interesting, but since this was a novella, it only introduced the basics. The main reason I gave this 3 stars was because there wasn't depth to the characters. I didn't get attached to any of them either. For me to want to read a series, I've got to care about the people in it.

Free download novella, very standard plot involving a covert group of non-humans/magic users gathered to protect normal humans, but the characters are interesting enough and the storyline promising enough I'm going on with the first book in the series.
