When Jake McGregor received the call in the middle of the night, he knew it couldn’t be good. And it wasn’t. Jake was a volunteer firefighter and the house fire he attended was raging furiously – the fire department had no hope of saving it. But the worst news of all was that it was arson. He couldn’t believe someone could be cold-hearted enough to torch a house with a woman and child inside.
Faith Walker and her son Tom were lucky to have escaped the burning house – back in her old home town four months after the death of her father, her plans were to settle up her father’s affairs and be out of there quickly. Being pregnant and alone with the father of the baby not wanting to take any of the responsibility must be one of the worst things to happen to a teenager, in today's day and age most parents support their
un-wedded daughter in any manner they can but when in a small town setting it is a much more different situation. Everywhere you go you will be snubbed at and most likely you would just want to get rid of the problem and carry on with your own life.
In this read from the wonderfully talented Soraya Lane it is exactly just this that happens to Faith, after telling her father and only family that she is pregnant, he kicks her out of the house and the school expels her, and all option she has is to leave town, destination a shelter and a way to make it up to her unborn child.
Years later he father passes away and leaves his home to her, she returns to the town she once called home but soon finds herself in trouble, trouble of the deadly kind and trouble of losing her heart to a sexy as sin, hotter than hot cowboy, oh and did I forget to mention volunteer fireman, it's like double the hotness ladies!
The main characters were both simply stunning, the author gave me the strong, independent I will make my way to the top for the sake of my son Faith. She doesn't let just anything get her down and leaning to live with looks from others as to her past "failings" is something she has learned to do with spectacular flair.
I totally loved Faith, as so many woman out there who at a very young age become mothers do not always manage to take it all in stride and claw their way to the top making sure they do not care what others think as long as their children are happy, and end up as addicts or worse.
The character of Jake was sweet, kind, caring, logical and gave his "security blanket" to Faith when she needed it most, making this hero the perfect man!
The back drop setting of a small town was truly the perfect touch for this story, as with the mystery revolving around who the actual father of Faith son's is and the "I need to live in this town" element being brought to life by the author gave me as reader the kind of read any romance lover wants.
The dialogue was fun and flirty but also intense during love scenes and confrontations. The author did a specular job of taking a everyday story, lacing in some mystery and action, a very, very hot man, a sweet as can be boy and a woman lost and bringing it all together in a short powerful read!
I highly recommend this read for readers loving romance set in small towns where hot cowboys or volunteer fireman,whichever option you feel like, will save you in a heartbeat and keep you close as his very own.

Way too short to be realistic. The writing wasn't bad, but there needed to be a lot more of it for me to say I enjoyed it. Brevity didn't help in this case. 2 stars

I get a *lot* of free books for the Kindle - most of them are chick-lit and because of that my expectations are not that high. I tend to try and pick ones that sound like they have a different premise - which this book certainly does, but a lot of the free books suffer from being incredibly short and rushing the story. I must admit that I wonder if there is a word count or size limit or something for free books, because a lot of the ones i have read really suffer from having too short a page count and this really lowers what rating I'll give the book.
I thought the plot for this story was different, yes it can be seen as the "white knight in shining arm" trope, but there are ways to change that up. The two leads come together because the plot says they should - I see no chemistry between them - a lot of 'chick-lit' books tend to go for lust over love, but I do not get even lust from this book. The leads are intrigued by one another, freely admit that the other is attractive and then all of a sudden have jumped into bed with one another and then are madly madly "really liking" one another. It just feels incongrous to me.
There is also very little conflict in this book and what little there is is incredibly quickly cleared up - to me it was almost un-naturally quick - the word 'fluff' come to mind as a description of this.
All of that said, I didn't find the book that bad. I have another of this authors books on my to read list - I just think that the author needs a larger canvas to work on in order to flesh out both her characters and the plot.

I enjoyed this short story. It's really short and quick, but because of that I really didn't expect a highly developed plot or characters.
It was pretty rushed - full blown love in 24 hours or less kind of things, and the problems were solved very easily and quickly, but it was a quick, fun read between more serious stuff.

Faith and her young son, Tom returned to her hometown, Fairview, Texas after her father's death and he left her his house. One night a fire is started with a fire bomb through the window and they escape, but with nothing left of their personal belongings.

Sometimes us readers are very lucky because we're given a treat from our fave authors while we're waiting, waiting, waiting patiently for new-release day to arrive. Rescued by the Rancher is said treat. A perfect Novella to keep my eagerness at bay while I waited for The War Bride Club to release.
Rescued by the Rancher is a sumptuous read that wraps itself around my heart leaving me feeling all warm inside. Just like being wrapped up in a duvet on a rainy winters day. I felt emotionally stirred by Faith and Jake, two lost souls who are reunited in their home town. Both have broken hearts for powerful reasons, their pasts are heart-wrenching, but none the less it's their pasts that lead them to their future together. Toss in some intrigue, mystery and some well deserved loving you've got yourself an ace read.
Sometimes during maybe lunchtime or when you're at home with an hour to kill or you have a rare occasion to snatch some time to yourself, Rescued by the Rancher is the perfect read, you cant go past it. It can be read in a lunchtime, it's a quick read with all the passionate, moving, mystery and sunshiney bits that any full novel has. Infact I think this was like only reading the best bits in a novel. It could quite easily be padded out to make a full size novel and I'd still enjoy it.
Feeling as I do after finishing Rescued by the Rancher, if you have read Sorya's books before you will know exactly what I mean when I say Rescued another beautiful classic Soraya Lane story.

Jake McGregor and Faith Walker both learned the hard way how real life’s consequences can be. Jake had to live with the loss of his unborn child and fiancé while Faith had to live with the constant struggles of raising her son without a dad of support system. Both suffered due to no fault of their own. Jake regretted not being there to save his loved ones. Faith suffered from her boyfriend’s unprotected sex. Both her father and boyfriend’s father blamed her. Make no mistake, both Jake and Faith were on the receiving end of raw deals.
This book does an excellent job of reminding us all how tough life can be by dealing with serious issues in a light way. The author keeps the tone uplifting and enjoyable for the readers. The sex scenes are some of the most tastefully narrated that I have read.

This is a lovely little novella by an author usually seen on the Harlequin Mills & Boon shelves with her Sweet/Cherish books.
Both Jake and Faith have histories. Faith left town years ago as a pregnant teen abandoned by her boyfriend and father. Back to claim her inheritance after her father's death, the torching of the house he left her suggests she's less than welcome.
Jake has loved and lost, but alone and homeless Faith and her little boy call to something in him. So begins a relationship both believe will be purely temporary because Faith has no intention of staying around in a town that rejected her.
This is a hotter read than her usual books but still very sweet. Jake and Faith and young Tom are well drawn despite the short format. A very enjoyable short read.

Rescued by the Rancher is a sweet contemporary romance. The main characters, Jake and Faith, are likeable characters who are fun to follow.
The storyline was uncomplicated and didn't push forward any of the driving complications. While this was a pity, as there was great potential, it was a nice and easy read.
The story pushed ahead quickly with everything falling into place very neatly. The description at times was lacking, but the author gave us just enough to like the characters and want to cheer for them.

I purchased this book from Amazon for free. I love cowboy romances, and I loved Montana Reunion by the same author, so I figured I would give it a try. Rescued by the Rancher was very well written. I just think everything fell into place too neatly for these two. I don’t understand how he went from not being able to look at her without it hurting to going to bed with her in one day. I gave this 2 stars because I liked the characters but felt that the book was lacking a rescue by the rancher. When I was done with this book I had a sense of WTF wheres the rest. I mean seriously the bad guy trys to burn Faith and her son alive, but he's just gonna go away because Jake threatens him. I like the authors writing style, but I thought the ending was lacking.

I picked this up as a free Kindle read. I needed something short to fill an hour or two and I love me some cowboys, so I thought this might fill the gap. In general, I found it entertaining and I liked the author's style. As I so often find with short stories, however, I wanted more! These two just seemed to fall in love so quickly and easily that I found it a bit difficult to buy in.

I received this book as a "freebie" on amazon and lately they have been hit or miss this was definitely a hit. The only reason I give it 3 stars is because it was so predictable.

Short
Very short and ends suddenly with more questions to be asked than answered. Many words are misplaced or misused. And at one point the wrong name, a name not even a part of the story, was used, which made me re-read a good section to try to figure out who the author had meant to say. And many question marks were used inappropriately throughout.

The story shows promise but ends up not working for me. Too much, too fast, too scattered. Emotions, actions, consequences aren't given enough time to happen, it might work better if it were longer. I liked the basic writing and want to give the author's longer work a try.

Really liked it, even though it was really short. It totally could have been expanded out to a full length novel because while the ending wrapped it up ok it could have been so much better with a little more.

Somehow this one just never really got off the ground. It wasn't hot enough to be considered erotica and the plot and character development weren't strong enough for it to have made a decent romance. I would say it made solid rough draft to what could have been a good contemporary romance.

This book was so heart warming. It actually was a very good book. Wasn't to long and I read it in a day. I think the dark secret of this book happens a lot in our day and time. Enjoyed this read very much.

Okay read, but a little disappointing. I like the characters but there wasn't much development. Everything was rushed.
