Yes...I know I'm reviewing a lot of books...I'm actually on holiday and have the time to do some reading!! Another Pulp Friction....Tom Webb, you're costing me a fortune...another Lee Brazil winner

This follows on from 'Chances Are' where we left Chance being a complete prat to Rory, and Rory going off and doing his own thing....not a good idea!! His thinking...what's sauce for the goose etc., but it doesn't always work like that does it Rory...as you found out to your cost!!

I'm now nervously waiting for the third book to appear.

This is another in the Pulp Friction line. Really everyone if you are not reading these, you are missing a group of great stories and great characters. This one is the second dealing with the Chances Are bar and owner Chance (Aaron) Dumont. He's a bit of a bastard, with his personality being colored by a love affair that ended badly five years earlier. He spends a great deal of his time telling himself why his new love affair with the younger Rory will not work. When a life altering event happens to Rory, his old flame Cannon reappears, life becomes complicated in a way that Chance is unprepared for. In the end he becomes the man I hoped he would be. Once again these are intense, quick reads, but oh so satisfying.

A shot of whisky full of stars.

Well it looks like I'm in a minority with Chance. Unfortunately I just can't connect with his character. I'm not keen on the way that he approaches his on again off again feelings with Rory and this weird thing with his ex is a bit confusing. Again not a bad read but its not gelling with me as much as I hoped. Because its part of the Pulp Friction series I'll keep reading so I hope the next one floats my boat more!

This is part of the "Pulp Fiction" series, a collaborative effort of Lee Brazil, Havan Fellows, Laura Harner and TA Webb. While they are all great stories that I have enjoyed very much, I have to say that Lee Brazil's contributions have been my favorite so far. Maybe it's the constant struggle against our inherent human nature (for better or worse)that he so eloquently portrays.

Chance (MC)can be a bastard and he knows he can be a bastard, but he's a bastard who always tries to do the right thing...whether or not it's right for him. Rory is a tough-guy cop with a weakness...Chance. I think he knows deep down that he isn't exactly what Chance wants, but he's not going anywhere unless Chance pushes him away. Who knows, maybe neither one of them know what they want or need.

I am not a huge fan of cliffhangers, so that's another appealing aspect of Lee Brazil's stories in this series. At the end of each story, even though you know things are not settled, he leaves you with a feeling that things are settled "for now."

Wow. I'm not sure if I love Chance or hate him at this point. I do know that I love Rory.

Chance is spending so much time dragging around an old relationship that ended FIVE YEARS AGO, that he can't see what's in front of his face. He's so determined to never let anyone hurt him again that he's seriously thinking about ending what he has with Rory.

Then his old love walks into the bar, divorced and out and proud and he wants Chance back. But, then Rory gets assaulted and Chance realizes that what he has with him is more important. Except I still got the feeling at the end that Chance is settling for life with Rory and I'm not going to be happy if he hurts him!

This is the second entry in Lee Brazil's "Chances Are" series (and the fifth entry in the "Pulp Friction" serial, which has installments by three other authors -- Laura Harner, T.A. Webb, and Havan Fellows), which features the twists and turns in Chance Dumont's relationship with Rory Gaines. Chance is still hung-up on his ex, Cannon, who left him five years earlier because he was not ready to come out. Now, Chance is afraid to take another emotional risk, so he does not trust the relationship that he has with Rory. Not being a stupid man, Rory is aware of the distance that Chance maintains, and he takes his own measures to assert his independence. A major crisis, however, leads Chance to reconsider where his head and his heart have been.

Unfortunately, a great deal of the emotion that this installment tried to produce rang hollow. Moreover, the editing mistakes were distracting. I think the serializing idea is fabulous, but if the pace is so fast that it prevents one from doing proper editing, then it's time to get more help. Ultimately, reading this is not the worst way to spend an hour, but neither was it as fun as it could have been.

Part 2 of Chances Are escalated very quickly. It grabbed me, sucked me in, and I didn't want to put it down. Fortunately, it's a super short read so, that wasn't a problem.

Cannon, Chance's ex and perhaps only true love, comes back after a long 5 year absence. He's divorced, out and interested in reconnecting. Chance is trying desperately to convince himself he's no longer affected. Of course, all this happens when Rory, Chance's very casual current, runs into difficulties. Chance chooses to commit to Rory even though he had been planning to break it off before all the trouble. Is Chance really beginning to care for Rory, or is Rory Chance's excuse for refusing Cannon?

Can't wait to start Part 3 of this intriguing, smart, sexy story!

This series just keeps getting better and better. Chance Dumont is everything and more you would expect from a ex cop who has seen and done it all. A singular voice that demands to be heard, you will fall in love with him just as I did. For the full review visit http://wp.me/p220KL-1tr

Chance has spent years with a wall around him because of his "true love's" rejection. Rory needs Chance and Chance is awaking to Rory when that old love walks in and asks for a second chance (excuse the pun). The old love is somewhat of a stalker & is creepy. I do not know why everyone now likes him. Chance must look inside for what is important to his life. A good short story.

These are short books so not a lot to commit to. They're a bit tough to figure out because the MC is denying he wants to be in a relationship and it's a serial so you're left to wonder... there are also others involved in the relationship so far.... But I'll keep reading!
