Have humans really found them?
Andre will fight to belong and discover his place among the wolves while struggling to find common ground with the stubborn yet beautiful Alpha wolf who has no time for a vampire.
I kind of like to think of myself as a normal lady living a semi normal life. I’m not sure that’s all that accurate; I have a sweet husband and two dogs-my girls- that I think of as my children. I grew up in Sonoma County, California and I never pictured myself moving. Funny because now I live in North Idaho and I love it here, I love the summers; camping, bar-b-ques with friends, and the farmers markets. I find the winter magical and love the snow. I started writing as a hobby. I’ve been one of those people who has been obsessed with the world of the paranormal for as long as I can remember. I self published my first book in August of 2011 at my husbands’ urging.
Sophia’s story was truly meant for me at the beginning. Now I love that I chose to share these characters with everyone who’s chosen to read about them. I love these characters. They hold a special part of me and represent the strength and knowledge that comes with never giving up. of course I’m biased.
As for me personally, I’m not one who ever really shared much of my own story, however not long ago I finally shared my story with the fans who followed my Facebook page Magen McMinimy Author Page so I figure my story is out there for the world to read so I might as well share it here . . .
Like I said I grew up in California, I was born in Santa Rosa, Ca on April 19th 1983, I had a simple and pretty good childhood with a rather great family. I have wonderful parents and a pretty great sister( I didn’t always think so as I was growing up, but now I know the simple pleasures of having a sister as my best friend, she also gave me my nephew Asher who I adore). When I was nine I was diagnosed with Sarcoidosis, I was fortunate enough that it didn’t affect any of my major organs, but on the flip side of that it was in my eyes.
When I was around the age of twelve, I was given the diagnosis of secondary glaucoma. At thirteen I had my first in a fairly long line of surgeries to help control the pressures and remove the cataracts in my eyes.
When I turned twenty-one I took the first step of a major life change and moved to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. I left a lot of amazing friends and an amazing extended family. I met my now husband a few months after the move and was married to him in June of 2006. In 2008 I finished college and became a wedding planner. I love a good party and I live to decorate and make things beautiful and amazing for those around me.
In April of 2010 I woke up one morning with no vision in my right eye, I got an appointment with a specialist and found out I had blood vessels growing in the back of my eye that led to nowhere and were steadily bleeding. I underwent treatments and we got the bleeding under control and eventually stopped completely. But not before some major damage had been done. My doctor got me on the road to getting some help and I work each day with a small amount of remaining vision in my left eye.
So why do I tell you all of this? I tell you all because this is who I am, and those of you taking the time to read this have probably read at least one of my books and because of that you’ve helped to make this dream of writing and reaching out to others who love books, and vampires, and shifters and all things gorgeous and sexy . . . come true!
Life is a constant balance of what we want and what we need. It's also a lot like a Battle. A battle that we all have to fight in our own way. I chose to try and love and cherish every minute that I get to chase my crazy dreams and create a world and characters to get lost in.
The first installment in the North American Pack series is another hit by Magen McMinimy. This series is concentrates on the werewolf pack that helped The Half-Blood Princess and her family. While it can be read without reading the HBP series, there is past that shed some light on the story and the characters involved in this one.
The romance between the hero and heroine slowly builds throughout the story as Andre and Savannah overcome their pasts and decide to work together to find some enemies that threaten the pack. All the characters in the story have great personalities that draw the reader to them, as well as keeping the reader entertained.
The action in the book is minimal and the battle with the enemies of the pack was resolved rather quickly. The story seemed a little short and concentrated more on Andre and Savannah. The book ended on a romantic cliffhanger more like a serial story, leaving the reader wanting to know what happens next.
Overall the book was a pleasant, light read of what promises to be a good series if the reader. And since the author concentrated the first of the Half-Blood Princess series on Sophia, I am sure that must be what she intends here and therefore I am sure I will love this series as much as the HBP, and I will impatiently wait for the next book.
This was a great start to the spin off and left you wanting more. You get to know Andre on a more personal level, and he is a grown man, not a little boy anymore. At first glance when meeting Savannah most of you may not like her. Because she really is quite the character, but you quickly learn she has fears and reasons for her behavior even if you do not agree with them, you’ll understand better. The pack accepted Andre, for more than one reason. He was accepted from Blaze, because Blaze was friends with Ash. The pack need protection and it just so happens Andre can give the protection as well as fit into their secluded territory. Though even with Blaze’s approval Savannah doesn’t accept Andre for the first of the book. She is really quite mean and doesn’t trust him at all. The book picks up pretty quickly and Savannah realizes she needs to be nicer and she and Andre begin to bond… Because of the length of this book and where it leaves off I won’t go into any other details. I would recommend you read this and even though Andre is part of the Half-Blood Princess series, you can get away with reading this as a standalone though it reads better with knowing all the other characters first. Either way this was a great quick read and I am, not very patiently I might add, waiting for the next part.
This story has a little of everything. I understand this is a spin off of Magen's HBP series which I have yet to read but plan to. There was enough explanation of the ties that I didn't feel like I was left hanging, trying to figure out what was going on.
I enjoyed her wolves almost as I enjoy her fae. Andre was a great character, I like how he was able to shift to various forms, was half caster, half vampire, and wise beyond his years. Savannah, I enjoyed her too. I want to know more about the Kitsune as well.
There was a bit of a cliffhanger in the sense that you know more is coming. I can't wait to read more of the story.
As a fan of the Half-Blood Princess series it was great to read about a grown up Andre. I was so sad when the book ended...especially without a HEA for Andre. Really hoping there is more of this story in the future.
I love books that are a part of a previous series, yet they have their own twist to things. Know what I mean? Ok well if you don’t then I shall tell you! We meet Andre in the Half Blood Princess series that Magen has out already (by the way it’s a great series you should check it out!), and this book is just about him. While you don’t have to read the Half Blood Princess series to understand what is going on in this book, it will give you a little bit more insight into the story line.
During this book, we find out more about Andre and what is going on in his world. He doesn’t seem to fit in anywhere because of who his parents are and what abilities he has, yet he is trying his best. I enjoyed seeing the softer side to him in the story. Too often these days, you have the rough and rugged man who is hard on the outside and the inside. But that isn’t the case with Andre; he shows his sensitive side as well.
I completely enjoyed Savannah’s character. And I enjoyed watching as she was going through everything in the story. It was great to see a strong woman come to realize that she can let go and feel again. While there were some parts of her character I didn’t understand completely, I do understand some of it. I couldn’t imagine going through what she went through, and learning how to trust again. But it was great to watch as everything happened.
Overall I did enjoy this book and I can’t wait for the rest of the series to come out. I don’t really enjoy cliffhangers, but with the way this one has been set up, I can’t wait to find out more.
Primal Hunger is the first in Author Magen McMinimy’s newest series North American Pack, and is a spin-off of her other series Half-Blood Princess.
In this new series we follow Andre Da’Roza, the half-vampire half-witch hybrid child of the protagonist of the previous series. He’s moved in with a faction of the North American Pack of werewolves in order to aid them in their survival. After the mysterious death of the faction’s Alpha two years prior, the whole pack has been a little on edge, especially the new and current Alpha, Savannah.
Savannah doesn’t trust Andre because of the vampire blood in him, but after some prodding from others she takes the time to get to know him, and learns there’s more to him than just fangs and blood. When they start to grow closer, things become complicated as a group of hunters come after the pack and it’s up to Andre to stand tall and protect his new home from harm.
Having binge read the Half-Blood Princess series the past two months I was excited to get into this new series, especially since it’s more focused on the werewolves of Magen McMinimy’s unique world of supernatural creatures hiding behind human society. The Pack was done brilliantly in my opinion, the loyalty of the members and their proficiency at sustaining themselves impressive indeed. Magen McMinimy knows how to introduce a society of werewolves, that’s for sure! And throw in some Kitsune in the bunch, and I’m positively ecstatic to have the chance to read such an incredibly novel!
Just to forewarn you, I totally suck at reviews. Never seem to be able to get all my thoughts out right.. But here goes.
I really fell in love with The Half Blood Princess series, so I had BIG expectations for this book. But, I kind of felt let down… The book started really strong, Savannah didn’t like Andre, but then another character says something like “pay him more attention”, of course not in those exact words, but you get it. She ends up falling for him, and him with her, but that was a given right? So great love story part, and fully kept my attention.
The parts that I didn’t like… Jumping back and forth in the chapters without stating who’s view it’s in. I don’t know why, but that always bugs me in books. The other thing, the ending. I assume there will be another book to finish Andre and Savannah’s story? I sure hope so, because if not, then this book was pointless. You get so much story behind Sophia, Ash, Tavian, Dante, and everyone else. I’d hate to think there isn’t more to this story. There are fears that Savannah needs to overcome that were too right in your face in this book. She loves a vampire, but yet she hates them. But out of love she offered to give him her blood when he was hurt, only to be turned down by him b/c he knew she was terrified! Just can’t get on board with that just board with that and call that an ending. So someone please tell me this story isn’t over!!!
This is Andre's story. I'm so glad that I read the whole Half Blood Princess series before starting on this book. Andre is awesome. He is a vampire/wiccan shifter mix. He can shift into a few different animals. He had problems controlling his shifting, so he went to live with Blaze and his pack of weres to learn control. Blaze needs help, so he's sent to Montana to help that part of the pack.
Savannah, is the alpha of that sect, she is suffering from a major heartbreak. She has trust issue with Andre, since he is part vampire.
I wish Andre and Savannah would have actually talked to each other, instead of walking away from one another!! Stubborn! Can't wait to start on the next one.
Magen has me hooked on her paranormals. I have loved them all.
In a continuing story of Andre and Savannah they are at each others throats. She doesn't trust him anymore because after she finally fell for him he left. Andre left because he felt that Savannah still needed time to get over her lost love. What they both don't realize is that something weird is going on and threatening to destroy the entire pack. Andre feels something baring down on his magic but doesn't know what it is, therefore doesn't tell anyone. One pack member is involved and playing a deadly game with someone who she shouldn't be. Can Andre figure it out in time to stop what's coming and will Savannah and him ever learn to get along and maybe come back together? Lets find out!
This was a great read. Some very familiar characters, as well as an entire town of new folks to get to know. This spinoff of the Half Blood Princess is wonderful for readers of that series, but is great as a stand alone novel. The female alpha leader of this pack is Savannah, and I enjoyed her strong yet vulnerable persona. I fell in love with Andre immediately. Magic, a murder mystery, and romance. Who could ask for more?
