More of Tori and he steals the show, his tiny commanding presence and the adorable factor is unmatchable. Impossible not to love, he brings so much joy, I doubt I could ever get tired of his adventures, a delightful installment in the series, because he makes it so. Stealing the Dragon will always be my favourite book of the series because Tori reigns supreme.

3.5 stars for the story, extra 0.5 for Tori

Near the end of Stealing the Dragon (aka Tori's book ), there was a plot of Jerney's sister being kidnapped and ready to be sold to an ice barbarian. That barbarian was Lor, one of the main characters here.

The story was written from Kam's perspective though. He was kidnapped by the tribe because he was thought of having witch's blood. The Tribe of the White Dragon was dying and they expected that they could marry one of the tribes with a witch's descendant to create, well tribe/witch babies *grin*. While Kam wasn't a witch that the tribe needed, he actually had a power of his own. He was an animal-speaker -- animals felt at ease with him and he could understand them.

This was my second favorite of the series -- although I had to say that it was all because of Tori. Story wise I like it as much as the first one in the series, Breaking the Shackles. I thought it was interesting enough, all the animals were wonderful, also the reason behind the White Dragon sleeping for centuries. The romance was subtle and at the beginning it felt more like adventure stories rather than romance.

However, neither Kam nor Lor had enough charisma to carry the story. In fact, Kam paled when Tori appeared around half part. Tori just stole every scene although he made this a whole lot more fun!

PS: Come on Mell, you're keeping story behind the screen?!? That is just not fair. I want story of them too!!!

There is nothing more depressing than coming to the end of a wonderful series.

This is supposedly the final book in this series, although I’m holding out hope that with enough support, Mell might just give us a few more books in this world lol

The romance is light in this book, although we start to get a feel for it about the half way mark. The sex is off page so don’t go expecting anything hot and heavy. Instead you will get a tender, heart warming feeling as you get to know a little of Kam’s background, and watch him and Lor come together. I don’t feel we really got to know Lor as much, and I would of liked a little more detail on his earlier life and family.

Tori may not be the main focus to this story, but at times he did steal the show. Meeting White and having The Eldest and his hatchlings all make an appearance was the icing on the cake for me.

Overall an extremely enjoyable and entertaining read.

I would love to give this 5 stars, but the truth is nothing can top book 3 in my opinion lol.

ETA I've changed my mind. While nothing can ever top book 3 this one does deserve to be upgraded to a full 5 star rating. Even on second time reading it loses nothing of the emotion I felt the first time.

Please please please can we have just a little more?

I really liked Kam and Lor and there was a great build up to their relationship here. I like Kam quite a bit and happy that he found acceptance in the north. I got a kick out of his connection to all the animals (Runt was adorable!) and thought it was a fun angle but down the road White and Eldest threw things off for me, especially Eldest who acted surprisingly different than how I was expecting him to given his other appearances in the series.

Loved, loved the Tori/Jerney cameo. Cute and sweet and added just one more facet to their story. Can't wait for the next installment.

There are enough great reviews about this book, so I'm not going to go into it much.
I am sorry to see this series end and really think there is more for Ms Eight to tell us about this world. Begging and bribery can be arranged .
Kam a real outcast among the poor dock area he lives in, is kidnapped and taken to the cold and inhospitable area of the White dragon, because they believe him to be a witch and have powers they need ( or maybe just some sperm he can donate to help make more baby witches).
He's actually pretty happy at this turn of events, well not the sperm/witch part but about being where he is, where can be useful and can ogle Lor.
Kam isn't a witch, ( take that Christine O'Donnell, sorry, couldn't resist, ignore me) but he does have other talents that he wasn't aware of. I really liked his capabilities, nothing huge or flashy, but very useful and sweet. I sort of had an inkling when the mice would cuddle up to him.
Lor the leader and witch of the group is Kam's love interest and like in most of these stories, it's more muted and hinted at, which is fine. This is more about the whole group we have met and learned to love along the way reading this series, all of them make an appearance, but as usual Tori steals the show.
I love cute kids, and puppies and dragons and this has at least 2 of those things rolled into one and he's gonna get a puppy, I'm sure. Cause really, every hoard needs one. :)

I was a little disappointed in this story, it was missing something that the others in this series had. I don’t know if it was the fact that it was too linier, there was more telling than showing, or if it was the character development was too thin. Not to mention the romance felt forced, and left me with a ton of questions.

What drew these two men together? Was it a case of Stockholm syndrome with a hefty dose of lust? Lor is over a thousand years old, and Kam is twenty tops what do they see in each other than hawt kinky monkey sex with a younger/older guy?

I don’t know, I just don’t see it.

We got a quick info dump on Kam’s past, but I still don’t feel that I know him as well as I know, say Jerney. I wish there was a bit more about his power as well. I mean there is a drastic jump from Kam denying his power to adeptly using it to stop two seriously powerful dragons from killing each other. He never practiced his powers when he found out he had them, he just went on with his life as usual. I found this a bit off, I mean if I found out I had a magical power all of a sudden I would be testing my limits, and trying to see if I could do anything else.

So all in all, the book isn’t bad, its just simple, and for me missing a lot answers to questions I have. I gave this book three stars is cause of Tori’s antics, he really stole the show in this, and I can’t wait for the short stories about him and Jerney.

Well this is one of those stories that when you come to the end, you just want more. More of the story, more of the world, more of the characters and most importantly (at least for me) more of TORI!!!!! I really just cannot get enough of the cutest baby dragon. From puppies to snowball fights, he just brings a smile to your face. While I started these books later than most of my friends, I really wish that this wasn't the end of the series since I just found it.

A perfect ending for an interesting series! The story doesn't begin where the previous book ends, but starts a bit earlier. The Ice Witch Lor has kidnapped a young man, who is said to be a witch and brought him to the Ice lands. Surprisingly Kam finds himself liking his new home much more than the village he lived in. He is included into the tribe and is actually useful. No one is harassing him, even after he admits that he won’t be the one to produce the witches the tribe needs to survive, since he likes guy and his handsome captor, Lor, in particular.

It's not before a blizzard that Kam actually finds out about his own unique abilities and about Lor's affections for him. Kam is an animal speaker and now he knows why he always is so sad when they go hunting. A white dragon sleeps in the caves and projects his loneliness and Kam can feel it and would love to help. Fortunately for him so would Tori, the cute young dragon from the previous book.

I absolutely adore Tori and well the tribe people did as well. It was such a cute scene when he asked for a puppy!!Ahem, anyway for all people who wanted to read more about Tori, this book will be a nice surprise. Also more details about the dragons are revealed, now we get to know why the Elderdragon has not left his home. I like that the story doesn't just end with an happily ever after there are still tensions. A new character is introduced at the end and I for one would like to read more about him and the Wizzard School they are building, but that might be a story for another series.

It's always nice to see an author improve and a story unfold. I was skeptical after reading the first book, but this series has gotten better with every book and this one is a fabulous read. If you liked the previous books then this is a must! As a warning, one really should read the previous books; the second part of the story would be a bit more difficult to understand otherwise.

Another winner from Mell Eight. This book features the story of Lor and Kam from the White Dragon Tribe. Lor was the witch we previously met during the last few chapters of Stealing the Dragon. And my oh my, he was indeed very desirable in this installment. I could practically see myself ogling him from a safe distance. *Sigh* If only I could have his babies LoL!

Anyway, the White Dragon Tribe is in a pinch because of the lack of witches able to protect the people from the snow. Kam was "kidnapped" after being mistaken for a witch in hopes that he could breed more magic into the tribe. As time passes though, Kam grows to love his new home and to compensate for not being able to fulfill his original purpose, he helps out anyway he can especially with taking care of the animals.

During a terrible blizzard, Kam dicovers the White Dragon inside the mountain cave and the history behind their divided tribes. With the help of Tori & Jerney from the previous book, Kam & Lor set out to mend the dispute with their sister tribe and help the White Dragon end the centuries old Riving with Eldest.

I thoroughly enjoyed this installment and it didn't hurt that the adorable Tori was there to liven things up. It's no question that he stole the show. I also enjoyed the sub plot between the White Dragon and Eldest. Sadly, this would be the last installment of the series so I guess I'll never know their story. I felt that the ending was a kind of unfinished. There were lots of plot development near the end that didn't come to fruition yet and I still very much want to get to know more about the main characters of this story.

I'm working my way back to the first two installments. Hopefully, they'll be as fun to read as the last two. Anyone looking for an entertaining fantasy read better pick this one up!

**grm**

In this one the plot was a bit more centered on an ancient story(legend). It was said that centuries before, the Eldest and his lover the Great White, had fought and separated, not because they didn't love each other anymore, but because they had different ideas on how to protect their hoards and where they wanted to live. In the "present day" we see them again finally making peace and we also meet a new couple, Lor and Kam.
In this book there were heterosexual elements, since Lor in the past had been married and had kids, but nothing happens on page here and all this was centuries before he met his mate, Kam. The book was shorter than the others, but thanks to Tori and his witch Jerney's cameo, and the backgroud of the ancient lovers fight, the story was still interesting. The MCs too weren't bad as a couple.

It was ok but I wish it was longer. The pairing here was sort of Hit & Run type, not enough to quash my thirst ( maybe my expectation on this last Dragon Hoard was higher after 3 wonderful stories )

However, please do continue the series - ie White and Eldest romance and the discovery of the Ice City.

A continuation of the story that didn't feel as in depth or engaging.....but considering that Tori and Jerney are my favorite couple and they're hard to beat.

But it provides a GREAT Tori/Jerney fix!

Kam is stolen from his town because he is thought to be a witch. When it turns out he’s not he’s still accepted into the White Dragon tribe. Lor, the tribes witch, is taken with Kam also.

As with all this authors stories, the participants were mostly sweet and engaging. The storytelling was well done. The romance was very low key but touching.

This was a welcome addition to the series. However, it left many questions unanswered. I’m hoping there will be additional books. I adore Tori (the juvenile dragon) and would love to see his hoard cave finished.

As much as I was looking forward to this book, I did enjoy it, but felt it was way too short.
We did get an answer to a certain question which has run through the previous books in the series,, but I guess I expected a lot more.
There is so much fodder for further stories, and I'd love to know the future of the couple introduced at the end of this book (trying to not give spoilers here). As their relationship changes things (for the good I would think)

I found Kam and Lor a little too plain as main characters but the book was made more interesting by the animals and Tori. The spotlight was taken from them in the later part by the dragons. Is this supposed to be the last book in the series? I wish there was more. I would love to read the story between White and .

“Melting the Ice Witch” by Mell Eight is Book Four in the ‘Dragon Hoard’ series, and centers around the adventures of Kam as he assimilates into the harsh society of those who live in the frozen wastes. His ability to discern what the animals around him feel makes the kidnapped man able to make a contribution to the Tribe, and encourages Lor, the leader, to value him and see him in a new light.

The fantasy gay romance stories in this series continue to delight and entertain. I love the way history has unfolded over the arc of these tales, and I’m always delighted when characters from previous stories pop up in the current one. The unusual dragon youth, Tori practically steals the show, with his charming combination of naivete, curiosity, and determination, and the vivid descriptions of the dangers of life in such a cold climate added to the tension and allure of the story.

Although it is possible to read this story as a stand-alone tale, it will be much better appreciated if the other stories in the series are read first, to get an introduction to various characters and societies. The world-building is fun and fascinating, and enhances the tales.

I look forward to each of these stories because they are refreshingly different takes on dragons, witches, and werewolves, and this one did a great job of weaving together many of the elements that were introduced in previous episodes. I can’t wait to find out what new adventures await.

Melting the Ice Witch by Mell Eight is an excellent continuation of their The Dragon’s Hoard series. I especially liked that the focus was on Kam and how he was learning to adapt to life in the frozen wastes of the north. Without any spoilers, he finds his niche with the help of one of the Tribe and a little animal. Several threads from the previous books are brought together as well. I hope this is not the last book set in this world, as it is an enchanting mix of lots of paranormal groups with the dragons being the most intriguing. I received a copy of Melting the Ice Witch by Mell Eight from Indigo Marketing and Design and I am voluntarily leaving a review.

I love how this author fits so much worldbuilding into shorter stories. I enjoyed Kam’s story, which had a few twists I wasn’t expecting. There’s more magic in this world than witches.

I liked how Kam is set up as not a witch, despite being taunted in the city because everyone thinks he is. I thought the author did a great job in giving hints that there’s something else going on with Kam, while not revealing the truth until much later on. I enjoyed the gentle, slow romance between Kam and Lor. They’re very sweet together and it’s obvious, way before he makes a move, that Lor cares about Kam.

I loved the appearance of other characters from earlier books in the series. Tori is fun. I loved all the dragons, and the tribe dogs play a good-sized part too.

This book was a fun look into the Ice tribe that was mentioned in a pervious book.
They are struggling, have for a long time and this one shows us just how hard it is to live on the ice. We follow Kam who was stole and sold off to them as a witch in order to help bring new witch blood into the tribe, however he’s not a witch and doesn’t like females.

this is sweet and lovely and creates a wonderful conclusion from the series as we get to meet the two more dragons and learn how things went down. It has minimal on page sex scenes and just all bunches of sweetness. Plus, dogs, lots of dogs.

The tribesmen of the icy north have long struggled to keep themselves and their families alive in the brutal cold. But in the two tribes there are only two witches left with any real power, and the witches are what make life in the ice even possible. If they do not find some solution soon they know that they will perish whether in a storm or from lack of food. That is why they arranged to steal Kam away from the human city after they hear he might be of magical lineage.

The only problem with that is that Kam is not a witch. However no one seems to believe him till he has spent weeks up north, amongst Lor’s tribe. Lor, the witch for his tribe, is sad that he has once again failed to find another witch to keep his tribe alive, and that he has taken Kam without his persmission, but he cannot deny that the young man seems to be happy in new home. And it is true, Kam is coming to care for the people, no matter how he ended up in the north. These people are nothing like the cruel and uncaring neighbors that made his life miserable in the city. And that he is coming to care for Lor, is all the more reason to stay.

Even if he cannot be what his people need of him most desperately.

I was wondering where this story was going to go after I read the blurb for the book. While I wasn’t expecting it to head in the direction it did, I can’t say that I am sorry. Kam being taken captive (and basically sold off by some random asshole in the city) had me betting that Kam and Lor would be a bit of a hard-sell, but the growing relationship–and the care shown between them–-helped a lot.

While the story does focus on Lor, Kam, and the rest of the ice-tribes, I did enjoy the side story of the White dragon and his rather tempestuous relationship with the rest of the dragons of the south. Plus this story gets automatic bonus points for some more wonderful Tori cameos. He make everything so much more fun!

The life that Kam and Lor live up north is a lot rougher than any of the other stories. More violent, more deadly. In essence, Nature is the antagonist of this book. And like most things about Mother Nature, you can not beat it, you just have to survive as best you can. I thoroughly enjoyed this look into tribal living that is always one-step away from total annihilation.

This story probably couldn’t beat the pure awesomeness that was Tori and Jerney’s story, but it was still very good. There characters were fun, and I loved how Kam’s gift came into play. And puppies. Puppies are adorable no matter what form they come in (please don’t tell my cats I said that, I don’t want to wake up with a mouse’s head in my bed!). This story also left me wanting to know more about the White dragon and his past. I’d love to have a continuation of that story.

Also, more Tori would not run amiss.

3.5 stars This was a great well-rounded continuation to the series, where we get introduced to a new couple but also revisit the others. The couple we meet consists of Lor, the Ice Witch from The North who we met trying to buy/kidnap a Witch needed for his Tribe in book 3, Stealing the Dragon. As well as Kam, a young Animal-Speaker who prefers his life in the cold North to the desolate life in the city he had prior to being mistakenly kidnapped.

I liked both men a lot individually, and did enjoy their interaction. While I don't mind the sexual encounters being off-page, the problem we ran into here is not being able to see that chemistry develop fully. The men did seem to care for each other, but there was an element missing.

That being said, it was great to watch Kam realize his abilities, and I enjoyed experiencing his journey. Of course, Tori was great, as always. And I liked how all the previous characters merged together, in that they each represent different groups in this world who need to coexist.

Overall, I really liked this book. It feels like less of a romance than the others, but that's all right with me. Since I liked this series, the narrator, and the writing, I would love to see more from of this world. Maybe the White Dragon needs a story? Due to the complete nature of this story with all the other races, I have a feeling Ms. Eight is done, but we can always hope!

This volume was my favorite of the series and I quite enjoyed this one! A slow burning romance, it was sweet and tender, and Kam was a delight. Unaware of his place in the tribe he’s doing his best to fit in. He was unwanted before he was kidnapped, now he likes his new home and even though he’s not what the Ice Tribe thought, he wants to stay. Lor is the hardworking witch of his people, not much of a talker but caring and protective towards the unassuming Kam. Watching Kam come into his own and discovered what he actually was, and how important he was to the dragons and so on was heartwarming! I did appreciate the appearance of some of the other characters and the hint of a deep love between the Elder and the White Dragon though it’s not fleshed out enough to really enjoy. I have hopes that the author will at some point continue the series or at least tell us Toel and Gail’s story, and perhaps Tori and Jerney’s but this one was a nice way to end it if she does not write any more.

I so adore baby dragon Tori who appeared first in the third book of the series, that I was tempted to grade this book five stars, unfortunately I cannot judge the story based on the fact that one of the characters stole my heart lol. Without Tori I would have given this book three stars, so four stars it is.

This is a fascinating world which was created in these books and it definitely begs for more in depth treatment, universe, characters, everything. If she ever decides to come back to it, I will absolutely read it. I also have to admit that Kam and Lor bored me a little.

My favorite out of the whole series. Kam was a trooper. He got kidnapped and was made to live in a completely different climate then he was use to and he never complained. He was a sweetie and it didn't hurt that he looked after all the animals. I loved reading about him and his interaction with Lor. It was also fun getting to know the Ice Witch's clan.

It's great that everyone got their own HEA, but I wanna know how Eldest and White reconciled, privately. And I wish to see more of Eldest & White's lovey-doveyness too. Maybe in novella, about their future.

Anyway, I can't wait to see more of Tori too. :D
