Mophisto has some plan in his head, I feel like he's gonna do something we all did not expect him to do. Like I can feel a plot twist coming but I can pinpoint what it is.
This volume was a fun read, i like the arc of seven mysteries but it feels like a filler arc? But I don't know.
Plus I think Yukio is hiding something, like as if knows something we (readers) have yet to figure out!,
My fav character is Bon, the one with angry face and hair pushed back and dyed in blonde
A bit of an uneven issue. Rin finally learns the truth about who Mephisto is but his plans remain obscure. Also the discovery of a Gehenna gate and the school mysteries hints at new trouble to come. The plot felt all over the place but I am excited that it seems we are about to learn more about Kimiki.
Woof. This was by far the weakest volume of the series (so far).
Everything is basically filler, and while we do get a few carrots dangling in front of us (hello, illuminati), it's only mentioned at the very end or quickly passed over to focus on the wacky antics the kids are getting themselves into.
I did like some of what's happening within the world as a whole since the Impure King mess. It seems exorcisms are on the rise and more and more normies are seeing shit, but there's no real explanation (yet) as to why. Another student, Godaiin, can suddenly see the spooky-ooky shit but it's never explained how it happened. It's seems like summer break leftovers of a sunburn and acclimating back into fall session, it's just there and then quickly passed over. Rin, of course, wants to help and it's always cute how eager he is at the thought of making a new friend but then that story is just ... dropped? Are we ever gonna get back to him?
And this keeps happening throughout this volume. We see a bunch of new ideas put forth but it feels like Kato is throwing spaghetti at the wall to see what sticks.
We find out that Mephisto is hella powerful, Amaimon is still alive, Rin needs to hide his weaknesses better, Yukio's brooding is turning into sullenness, and the kids have taken a step back and are not alright.
There's some more homework for the kids to do ala school exorcisms which include two cross-dressing stints that did not age well, and brought nothing to the plot. The first is a bride haunting the school that shows a man cross-dressing and is, of course, a pervert trying force kisses on the boys, natch.
Then later on, when the girlies have to exorcise a Moaning Myrtle, we get an ending shot of the boys dressed up as school girls for a few hyuks. But the only thing it really highlighted was the kids taking two steps back in the teamwork department which was frustrating. The boys seem to have a basic semblance of teamwork but fail spectacularly - the one (1) hilarious moment came from Shima's willingness to abandon everyone when he fucks up. It was very, "pack up my bread sticks and gtfo".
Kamiki is trying to figure out how to thank Shiemi for saving her life last volume in the way on tsudere's can, by being an irritable grump about it. And her little fox spirits are giving her lip and I was really irritated by that because I thought we were past that? Then Shiemi comes and outshines Kamiki again by getting Nee to grow an offering for the foxes which they blushingly accept just before Shiemi nearly dies. Again.
Sigh.
The one filler I did enjoy was with Kinzo, one of Shima's older brothers who's apparently part of a screamo band and that was hilarious. Never figured Kamiki for that type of music and Shima seems rather flustered by it. Guess he's more of a Lana Del Ray boy.
Blue Exorcist, Vol. 10 proves that Kazue Kato is one of the most diversely talented mangaka around. One moment you're sitting dumbstruck with awe by her beautifully detailed artwork and then all of a sudden you're on the floor laughing so hard because she has cleverly sucker-punched you with wicked smart humor. She also gives so much personality to all of the characters that you feel attached to each and every single one of them. I just fall deeper in love with Rin with every volume. This kid has so much heart, he's freakin' hilarious, and he's got mad cooking skills!
The bonus stories at the end are hilarious. I particularly enjoyed Blue Wars. I ♡ Kuro. I would have made the same choice too, if it were me! SUKIYAKI!
Blue Exorcist continues to improve and impress with every volume. I hope that this series has a very long run because I don't want to imagine a future without Rin, Kuro, and the rest of the gang.["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>["br"]>
I like that in this volume we're starting to see what's going on globally, and I continue to love the characters more and more. In this one Izumo is kind of forced to realize that, as little as she likes it, Shiemi is not useless at all, and we get a glimpse into why she's being so resistant to Shiemi's attempts at becoming friends with her. There's some ridiculousness here in the girls' restroom story (haha, that bathroom looks an awful lot like Moaning Myrtle's!), but things seem to be gearing up for the serious once again as they'll have to try to find a way of dealing with the gehenna gate that's been opened up. I'm looking forward to the next volume when it comes out NEXT YEAR, arghhhhh!
Incredible book shows the development of Ren as a character. Even when his friends see his demonic origin and abilities they still find the good in him and truly believe that he wants to be an exorcist and avenge his foster father by killing Satan. Though he dose find out the truth, Satan being his father his mother was a satanist, mephisto helping him seem normal, his foster father treating him like a normal kid, etc. He stays true to his principles and dose free his brother from Satan and dose destroy the gahena gate.

It’s back to True Cross Academy and on with classes for the ex-wires! While in class one day, Rin finds a fellow classmate who can also see demons apparently. His name is Godaiin, and Rin befriends him. Unlike Rin, Godaiin is disturbed by his visions and only wants them to go away. Rin promises to ask his exorcism teachers for a solution to Godaiin’s problem.
Meanwhile, Arthur Angel and his angelic battalion have a situation on their hands, one involving the Impure Princess! I guess we haven’t seen the last of this family! A new mystery arises, involving a demon-eater, and the matter of Rin Okumura is temporarily suspended.
Rin receives a dinner invitation from Mephisto – why, he has no idea. But he hopes Mephisto can help him solve Godaiin’s problem. Mephisto puts things into perspective for Rin, then tells him he has homework but neglects to tell him what it is.
Yukio finds the Consultation center of the True Cross Academy Japan branch is busier than ever, and wonders why. Lord Pheles summons Yukio and the ex-wires to a meeting at a decisively strange hour – eleven PM! – in order to assign them a special lesson. They are to solve the seven mysteries of True Cross Academy that the whole school has been talking about. But the only way they can do this is if they cooperate with each other.
The first mystery involves a mysterious form dressed in white that wanders the academy at night. The catch is that it won’t appear before women, so the girls have to sit this one out. Speak of the devil, there she is now! Go to it, ex-wires! Er, male ex-wires.
As the boys deal with this ghost, Mephisto is summoned by Arthur Angel and his battalion to deal with a sticky situation involving a Gehenna gate!
The ex-wires receive their next mystery assignment – a toilet mayuko in the girls’ dormitory! This time, the boys have to sit this one out, leaving Kamiki and Shiemi to take care of the matter. Why is Kamiki so reluctant to admit that Shiemi is her friend? While the girls go to it, the boys have their own preparations to make.
This series just gets better and better! We thought the Impure King was a done deal, and now here comes the Impure Princess! We only scratch the surface of that, rather delving into the seven mysteries of the True Cross Academy. The first one, involving the figure in white, was hilarious, while the second one brought out more of Shiemi and Kamiki’s relationship. I think that bathroom spirit was a cross between Harry Potter’s Moaning Myrtle and Mean Girls.
I enjoyed the encounter between Rin and Amaimon, though I frankly admit to hoping to see Rin thoroughly kick that guy’s ass someday. I enjoyed seeing Mephisto’s interactions with the angelic contingent. I really do not like Arthur Angel, and I hope Mephisto will bring him down to size, over and over.
The ex-wires are developing, learning how to work together and get along. The more I read of this, the more I like it. Keep it coming!
I laugh some of the part - the part where shima is coward n abandoned his friends for chanting their prayers to get rid of the spirit woman dress in white wedding kimono, shima got caught n been kissed by that spirit😂 & the part every boys dress up as girls when they entered in girls bathroom for a reason - seven mystery in the true cross academy. Mephisto - I have no idea what his true purpose or what he's up to - sometimes he can be unexpected in times - when mephisto invited Rin in his place in his full otaku merchandise in his room. I feel like Rin become alice while mephisto become mad hatter during dinner time n changed Rin's appearance, his clothes especially mephisto gave his advice to Rin included practice being demon etiquette for the reason - I have no idea demon learned good manners too. Yukio avoid by getting checked - up when shura told him to go especially Rin is suspicious about yukio - when yukio smile, it means he's hiding something which Rin said was right but yukio kept hiding it - I feel irritated I know how he feel but if he kept hiding it n sooner the truth will be out. The toudou dude who looks so young because he ate the karaku - the phoenix to make him younger, I wondered who is he talking to 🧐 I think the king of demon or mephisto brothers that we don't know about except amaimon that he become a hamster. Next volume pls, 🤩 I think I'm getting interesting in this story goes. Mephisto revealed his real name samuel n his other personal details.

Lots of stuff this volume about femininity, which has me glad Kazue Kato is the one doing this manga. Lots of cross-dressing and female stereotypes, with the girl characters being excluded or isolated from everything. There are some big-ish plot reveals here and maybe we just saw the next arc's villain, or we just saw the series' overarching villain, and either is an exciting prospect. I'll always appreciate a volume with forward momentum for the series, and I like that we're seeing more about the school that isn't specifically about exorcism. This is a good change of pace from previous volumes, but given how character-driven the series has been I worry that focusing on big plots and conspiracies might bring it down (especially since those stuff, like Mephisto's plan, are the weakest parts of the series thus far). But the school mysteries is a fun set-up for an arc, and I like that they're comparatively low-stakes compared to the B-plot of Mephisto. Kato is great at making sure everyone in the cast is involved even if it's for a gag.
I'm not in the headspace to leave a decent review, but the end of the volume has the first mention of the Illuminati. We also see Todo speaking with someone shrouded in shadows who seems to be the leader. From the very spoilers I have seen, I can imagine who that must be. Meanwhile, we have the Exwires exorcise two ghosts. The first one was funny with the boys, while the girls handled the second exorcism. An interesting to note was how Yukio has been avoiding his daily check ups for obvious reasons. Also, Mephinsto has revealed himself to be one of the most powerful demons who controls time. He is willing to help Rin and shows him how his tail and demon heart are his weak points that he should keep hidden. Still though, Mephisto is shady af and I don't trust or like him.
After the volume ends we als0 have some drawings and stuff from the author. Though this volume I find most of them unnecessary. Sort of distracting right after the reading the main storyline, though there is a few fun character things.

Finished today. This volume has several interesting moments, although it mostly light hearted stuff after the heavy finale of the Impure King battle. 1. The actual Paladin goes up against the Impure Princess--who, even if she's less powerful than the king, is by implication a fairly big deal--and wastes her in one shot. So yeah, Rin's cool, but not that cool.
2. Kimiko and Izumo team up again, and this time Izumo does the saving, which finally allows her to gather up enough pride/humility/grace to thank Kimiko for having saved her life. They actually prove a pretty effective team here.
3. Rin has dinner with Mephistopheles and finally figures out Pheles is himself a powerful demon. Which only makes me wonder if Rin may be even more clueless than Kato makes him out to be.
Unfortunately the total effect was filler as we wait for the end of the volume as a whole to introduce any major new plot details.
I've finally reached the point where I can no longer rely on the anime to know what's going on, lol. They announced a third season, so hopefully they will adapt the rest of the series well.
We finally get to know more about Mephisto, although I'm not quite sure if he's told the full truth about himself yet. It felt a little out of character for him to suddenly reveal his true identity to Rin, assuming that *is* his true identity. I'm still suspicious of him and his motive for "helping" Rin out. Or I could be totally wrong and he's not trying to ultimately betray Rin at some point...also I was kind of disappointed that we didn't see more of Amaimon, especially since he's featured on the front cover this time. I feel like there's more to his character and maybe that's why he hasn't really been shown?

Yay for entirely new material! This seems like the start of a very long arc and I’ve only got two more volumes from the library so I’m already starting to feel sad. I liked the Shima bonus chapter, I know some spoilers from scanlations I saw sometime in the past so I’m interested in seeing how he gets there and wonder if there are supposed to be hints in this little story. The 10th anniversary bonus stuff is fun, some of the art notably better than others but all not quite like the original artist which makes me wonder how assistants work. I feel like this book has more assistants than I’ve ever seen thanked in a manga, but it may just be the way she spread them out with the little doodles rather than just a crammed list of names in a sidebar note.
Another awesome volume! This is the first volume I've read where the anime deviated from so this was all new content for me. It's really exciting to read new aspects of the story. I just love these characters so much that anything new is going to be great. Although I thought the reveal of . And the art is just as phenomenal as always. It's such a crisp and blatant type of style that I've fallen in love with.
