It’s BOOK WEEK in Oakfield school and EVERYONE is very excited. Including all the teachers, who are making costumes of their own. Mr Keen says there’s an EXCELLENT prize on offer for BEST costumes worn on BOOK DAY. So suddenly making a good costume is VITALLY important – but tricky. Delia’s not much help (as usual) and the Fossils get carried away with the dressing up box. Marcus decides that HE is a super hero and can’t understand why ‘Super Marcus’ isn’t the best name.
L. Pichon says that when she was little, she loved to draw, and her mom said she was very good at making a mess (this is still true today). She kept drawing, went to art school, became a designer and art director at Jive Records, and began to publish children’s books. After its publication in the U.K., The Brilliant World of Tom Gates won several prestigious awards, including the Roald Dahl Funny Prize, the Waterstone’s Children’s Book Prize, and the Blue Peter Book Award. L. Pichon lives in Brighton, England, with her family.
I read a book that is called 1CTom Gates 1D. It is a fiction book written by L.Pichon. I 19m not sure but I think that the genre is Realistic Fiction. My good friend suggested this book to me and I started reading it mostly because of the really cool cover that it has, but after a little while, I really started to like it.
Everytime I read this book I think about parties and dressing up as a character because in the school that Tom goes to, they decided to do a dress-up parade and Tom had so much trouble making his costume and at the end dressed up a a funny monster who 19s scales kept falling off. The plot was very exciting and believable, the characters were people and the story is about a boy 19s life and school. In this book there were no scary bits but quite a few funny bits. From this book I learned a little more about trust, friends and enemies. I would recommend this book to people in the age group from 8 to 12 because this book is so much fun and it 19s definitely worth reading.
The main character is Tom, Tom Gates. Other quite important characters are, Delia(Tom 19s sister), Tom 19s mum and dad, Derek (Tom 19s best friend), Amy Porter(Tom 19s crush), Marcus Meldrew(Tom 19s enemy), Tom 19s other classmates and teachers. This story mostly takes place in Tom 19s school but some parts of it are set at home. There was a book parade in Tom 19s school where you had to dress up as a character from a book and whoever has the best costume wins a prize.Tom 19s mum thinks it will be easy to make the costume for the book parade but Tom is not so sure because he 19s wearing a biscuit tin and that isn 19t what he had in mind. Also, Delia keeps laughing at him, while Marcus Meldrew won 19t stop going on and on about his costume and how he will win the book dressup parade.
I think it was a good read for me ..When you read this your mood will definitely be good . Well I m trying on children stories these days as my exams are very near and I have too much to read. . Story-It’s BOOK WEEK in Oakfield school and EVERYONE is very excited. Including all the teachers, who are making costumes of their own. Mr Keen says there’s an EXCELLENT prize on offer for BEST costumes worn on BOOK DAY. So suddenly making a good costume is VITALLY important – but tricky. it was a really good book and i love the other tom gates books. my goal is to read all the tom gates books. they are so funny with marcus meldrew. (groan) if there was another book coming out and l.pichon wanted to get ideas. i would say to make the book that they are in year 11 and amy porter goes to the prom with tom gates but then tom gates goes missing so amy goes dancing with marcus and then tom comes back and he she's her dancing with marcus and then...well you'll have to wait and see...
'Best Book Day Ever!' is probably THE SHORTEST and MOST SILLIEST novel that I have had the pleasure of reading in paperback. Here is what I continue to like about this series. (And the random reason why I continue reading it.): 1. Its so easy to read through. Like, if you're incapitated and literally cannot be bothered to read anything but you're up for SOMETHING. This is a good read. Took me...30 min? 2. It reminds me a lot of 'Diary of the Wimpy Kid'. And not in a good way. 3. I like all the illustrations. Congratulations to Liz Pichon on publishing a new novella in the 'Tom Gates' series!
In this book we see how Tom prepares a costume to dress up in around his favourite book character for his school's book week celebration.
As he loves his alien books he hopes to finally get the one he needs to read next and have a great costume but things go awry and when he gets picked for a photo he regrets it!
This was a super little story Tom certainly leads an eventful life especially in this book with the costume drama I loved how it ended and what happened to his costume it'll certainly give you a giggle!

Best Book Day Ever! is a great book for younger kids who love to read. It has a lot of thrill to it and you always will want to keep on reading until you have finished the book. It has a lot of realistic features and what to put on for book week at your school. The drawings are amazing and you can even read it to others while showing the awesome pictures.
The pages of this book practically sing with joy. It follows the story of a young boy named Tom, who faces the daunting task of creating a costume for a book parade at his school. As he struggles with his design, he also learns important lessons about trust and friendship. The characters in the book are incredibly relatable, their emotions and actions perfectly captured on the page. And the plot is full of twists and turns, keeping readers on the edge of their seats until the very end.
I would highly recommend this book to children ages 8-12. While there are no scary moments, there is plenty of humor sprinkled throughout. Tom's family, friends, and classmates all play crucial roles in his journey, each adding depth and heart to the story. The majority of the book takes place at Tom's school, giving readers a glimpse into the world of elementary education.
In the climax of the story, Tom surprises everyone with his unique costume choice that ultimately wins him a prize. And as readers turn the final pages, they can't help but feel a sense of satisfaction and pride alongside Tom as he triumphs over his challenges and discovers the power of creativity and determination. This book is truly a delightful read that will leave a lasting impression on its young audience.

This book is a great book for children to read during World Read Aloud Day. It has 85 pages and it is for 8+ years old .
In this book, Tom Gates decides to participate in a fancy dress competition at school. The theme is to dress up as your favobook character from a book. Tom wants to dress up as an alien scale monster. Derek, Tom's friend helps him make the costume. Great Manor school was also competing. Not surprisingly, disaster strikes when Tom’s costume rips apart at the competition. He tries to hide behind the tallest kid in school to cover up, but soon his turn to walk on the stage comes. Tom's teacher, Mr Fullerman sends him off the stage because of his broken costume. In the end Tom's grandmother tries to cheer him up with a cake with peapods.
This was my 6th book that I read in this series, and it was a very quick read.
This is a good quality world book 📓 day book. I chose this rating because it was inspirational with absolutely incredible pictures. I mean they are so 👍 good. I would recommend this book to primary kids especially ks2 children because it's a good read if you just want to relax a bit. It also has lots of doodles and most of them are highly amusing. There is nothing basically NOTHING bad about it. I 💜 Tom gates books.
My colleague had this on her desk so I had a read of it - it is a fairly short book. I have not heard of the character Tom Gates before, and this is part of the series, although you don't have to have read the others. It promotes book day which is nice, and getting in different costumes, some interesting points, but nothing spectacular.
It's really hard to rate this book, It's okay, but I don't remember much from this book (although not bad) I wouldn't mind shorter Tom Gates books in the future, maybe a series of Novellas on Tom's earlier (or later) life would be interesting, If you see this book (and want more Tom gates content) then this is a good (albeit nothing remarkable) book!
I enjoyed it so much I read it about 55 times!!!!!!!!!¡!!¡👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜amazing awesome extremely extraordinary I need more of his books so I can get my head back in to those books!!!!!??
