The rage I felt earlier in this series is gone. Followed by frustration and aggravation which now frankly, is apathy at this point. How do I feel after this book?
Kill 'em. KILL THEM ALL.
Dougie's a joke, Mat's a misguided and naive fool, and Nicolai's a narcissistic megalomaniac. At this point, I am inclined to leave the characters where they are and not follow on with the next season.

Why does my mind go into panic mode each and every time I open up my Kindle to begin reading another episode in The Flesh Cartel Series!!!
Because Heidi Belleau and Rachel Haemowitz have created two characters that are now part of the fabric of my very being… Mat and Dougie have been put through every torture, humiliation, degradation, pain, hurt and mind fuck imaginable and I have been there with them every step of the way… these boys are ingrained within my very soul!
We left Mat in episode eight yet again manipulated with Nikolai using Roger as a means to an end. Thinking he is saving Roger from Nikolai’s brand of discipline, he agrees to submit and become the slave that Nikolai requires for his client… a willing decision on his part… yeah right! …there is no decision or action that has not already been formulated in Nikolai’s mind!
In return for his submission, he has one request… to be able to see his brother, the brother that hates him for abandoning him, the brother that is now so indoctrinated, he has no self will, his only purpose in life is to serve his master, to please him… because his Master loves him and only wants what’s best for his slave… yes, of course he does!!! …and Nikolai agrees!?! Mmmm…. well you would think that Mat had learnt his lesson by now, the sick bastard doesn’t agree to anything unless it’s on his terms and as always with Nikolai, nothing is as it seems!
“All right” he said “But do be careful what you wish for”
Before we even get to that stage, Mat needs to be punished for his misbehaviour in FC#8… all I can say is FUUUUCK!!! Don’t for one minute think what has come before will desensitise you, not where that sick fuck is concerned! …and yet again we see Mat put himself through immeasurable pain and torture in the name of love and hope, Nikolai has given him a slither to cling to and for that Mat can endure anything.
In this episode, I loved having Mat back, he may be submitting for a cause but his inner fierce and quite apt musings continue to entertain me.. I am still waiting in anticipation for the day when all the delights so lovingly bestowed upon Mat are returned tenfold to Nikolai! O.M.G. I would love to see him go through what he so casually reaps on others!
Meanwhile Dougie’s mind has been conditioned to that of a slave and Nikolai is so proud of himself for his achievements. He see’s himself as an artist… I have a few words for him, but funnily enough artist is not one of them, I think he see’s himself creating beings of beauty and perfection in the eye of the beholder and I often wonder if the man is deluded and truly believes his own hype!
Dare I even contemplate that there may be hope for these boys at the end of this episode!?! Nah… I am somehow sceptical that this man, who is so methodical and strategically plans and manipulates every situation to his own advantage, a man to whom “mistakes” never happen, would make such a careless error… I think not! It’s like waiting in the dark for the monsters to jump out of the wardrobe!!!

Mat sabía que la promesa de Nikolai de permitirme ver a su hermano no iba a ser como esperaba, pero nunca pienso que intentaría algo así.
Pero están juntos, será que podrán escapar?
Será que podrán liberar a su hermano?
Otro libro fuerte psicológicamente, incluso con falsas esperanzas. No entiendo por qué tiene el autor que hacer sentir a Mat tan tonto, después de todo lo que ha pasado, por qué no es más suspicaz?
Pero bueno, el personaje de Mat siento que casi no ha evolucionado, en cambio Doguie ha cambiado casi completamente.
Cómo va a hacer el autor para liberar a estos dos hermanos, física y mentalmente?

What a psychologically intense instalment!
A big cliffhanger at the end and... I'm afraid I know where this is coming...
Dougie is slipping more and more into the "good slave boy" mindset, and I'm so sad because of it but also... I'm pissed because he should have been stronger! Cleverer! Looks like his whole psychological PhD background fires back at him... :(
And Mat? He's great! Despite all his mistakes, bad choices and despair - he fights back, still fights back! Hang on, Mat, just hang on!!!

How the hell did Heidi and Rachel ramp up the tension in this episode? In a series that cannot become any more intense they found a way to take me right to my edge, cross it, and then completely exhaust me with a racing pulse, fear and hope. Always that damn bit of hope.
THE STORY
This episode starts out with a deed that brought me to the brink of what I could handle.
Hell, this whole series has been an exercise in defining comfort thresholds and then smashing them.
I can’t tell you what happens here because it would spoil everything, but I will tell you it’s something we’ve all been hoping for…and dreading. Then there's the cliff-hanger which is an anxiety inducing, visually captivating moment of “No, No, NO……
From start to finish this episode is just a non-stop adrenaline rush!
THE WRITING
I can’t imagine this being written any better. I think these ladies would excel at writing for film. They have a way of bringing every moment to life. Even when you’d like to be able to look away, you can’t. And that’s a good thing, because while I nearly looked away at the beginning, by the middle I was so absorbed I wouldn’t have missed it for anything.
In an entire series of “intense”, this book stands out!

Mat is back in this episode fighting Nikolai at every step and taking the horrifying consequences.
Dougie has drunk so much of the Kool-Aid, he is in love with living to serve Nikolai. He is pampered and content.
Mat continues to make demands of Nikolai, who warns Mat to be careful what he asks for. Mat is taking his punishments and getting back in shape with the ultimate goal of saving Mat and now Roger, whom he believes to have suffered abuse due to Mat's choices, and tear the whole operation down.
Unfortunately, Nikolai has yet another test for the brothers and of course, it is unfathomable in its cruelty, but offers Mat an opportunity he cannot pass up.

I do no know if I'm ready for it, and I probably wouldn't be starting it now if it was not for my buddy L!
I stopped reading this series months ago, after finishing book no. 8, that for me, was the hardest of them all.
I needed a break to breathe because it really got to me!
I also wanted to wait for the all series to be out, in order for me to not get stuck in the dark without an end within reach.
I pre ordered the all series, and now that it's out I'm taking a deep breath and diving in!
Wish me luck!! I'll need it!

I felt my heart beating like crazy, and I had to stop in few occasions to get myself together, and pep talk myself into calming down.
I am so afraid, still, of what's coming next for Dougie and Mat.

After what seemed to be eons, Dougie and Mat finally met up together again, though not in the way they both want. It wasn't really hard to predict how their meetup would turn out given the seemingly uninhibited rules of the book.
This wasn't an easy read, and almost the whole book was really intense and kept me on the edge of my seat. The emotions and thoughts of the characters gripped my heart closely with anxiety and fear.
I've been waiting for so long for some form of reprisal we finally see it! Given how the ending went, it was probably too good to be true. The halfway mark of the book turned the heat up in the story, and I hope the standard stays the same from here on.

Another Wow! Nikolai continues to be a total bastard, not like we expect anything else by now, but still. The boys are as confused as ever as they flip flop back and forth between feelings from their other life to coming to grips with feelings from their new one.
Dougie seems to be having less and less doubts of his position in his new life, though those niggling doubts are still there. Nikolai chooses this time, even though it seems to be a bit premature, to test Dougie in the worst way possible.
Mat is recovering and dealing with acceptance of things as well, until put to the latest test where things come crashing down on both boys.
I'll jump to the ending. It simply cannot be that easy and darn you guys for making us wait again to find out!

Oh Holy Mind Fuck! I knew this one would throw me off again. I really loved Episode 8 and got way too comfortable...my bad.
So yeah, um Mat…damn boy! Just when I was ready to be done with you and was not invested in you at all to be honest you knock my socks off! Wool socks to be exact and oh boy, do you need another pair?
Nikolai is the MASTER mother fucking manipulator in this. Wow. Once again, I got to comfortable with the roles being played and I got played. This whole deal Nikolai makes with Mat, I am so on edge I can’t see straight. And Dougie, JHFC! I really liked you in the last two Episodes but now I want to smack you and tell you to wake the fuck up!
The end? I am so damn nervous that I want to start the next episode immediately but then again I never want to read it. That is always the problem with this series; as it gets tough, I want to keep going and I want to run away but at the same time I can’t leave my boys alone. Ugh. Boys, just stick together okay? You can do this, please, you can do this. Oh lord, the title of this…Trials and Errors and then the title of Episode 10…I just can’t.

Nikolai’s logic sounded okay in theory, but that was what Nikolai did, just kept talking and talking and talking until you believed what he said, until you accepted his worldview as your own.

OMG! The suspense! The cliffhanger! Once again, Mat and Dougie are breaking my heart, and Nikolai is proving himself to be a vicious monster. I'm on pins and needles for the next episode and for the answers to my questions. Of paramount importance, will the 10th book be the last? Will everything be wrapped up then?
Rachel and Heidi continue to amaze me in their writing, their unflinching ability to put together a story that is both horrible and perfectly wonderful at the same time. The terrible, dark themes of this series have hit an all time high. The ride that we're probably in for in book a episode 10 will be undoubtedly worth the wait. I never thought I'd be this wrapped up in these two young men. Totally, and completely invested in their plight. I know that tonight I'll be dreaming of Mat and Dougie.

Oh man...Mat thinks he's managed to get to see his brother. He doesn't realize that Nikolai is going to use this at a big setup.

I'm FINALLY back in with this series. I have goosebumps. It's going to be impossible to write anything about this particular book without giving too much away. I'll just say - Hope. Hope for the series and hope for the brothers.

Trials and Errors had more of Mathias, which I have been wanting throughout the last few books, so that made me very happy.
I do devour these shorts as soon as I buy them, but I am not sure for how much longer I can go waiting to buy and read this story at such little sections at a time. The ending to this one finally gave me the hope that has been missing previously, so I am now waiting for the next story to see what happens.
I do devour these shorts as soon as I buy them, but I am not sure for how much longer I can go waiting to buy and read this story at such little sections at a time. Th Flesh Cartel gets more and more disturbing with every page read. The brothers have been put through such a huge amount of pain, turture, manipulation and emotional terror that it really is a miracle that they are still alive.
In this part of the series, they are finally confronted with each other, which was an extremely touching scene. While Mat is desperately trying to somehow save his brother, Dougie seams unable to cope with the situation.
The suspense was very high in this book and the cliff hanger nearly killed me. Can't wait to continue the series and I'm definitively not giving up on them. 4 stars!

However this series will progress and (God forbid) end, there is no doubt that this book (#9) is my absolute favorite so far.
Like Top 10 of All Time material.
I can't even say anything else about, it except...
This instalment totally broke me apart. So many tears on everyone's parts. And none of them the good kind of tears...
I have NO IDEA how this could ever end well...
But damn, it's some of the best fiction I've ever read.
5 stars and a place in my Top 10 of All Time list!
