Small disclaimer: Aikawa Saki is one of my favourite mangaka so I nabbed a few of her books that were only ever released in Japanese. Naisho no Jikan was one such and I've kept it around for language practice purposes but also used an online fan translation - thanks you the translators!
This was pretty cute and straight forward. Apart from loving Aikawa's art, there wasn't much to celebrate but there also wasn't really anything bad about it. For a standalone shoujo romance story, this was actually paced very well and the love story was believable enough. The top two students don't really get along and are from two different backgrounds: Mahiro is known as a no nonsense nerdy girl and Hinata comes from a wealthy background and can't seem to stand her. Unfortunately, the top students aren't permitted to have part time jobs as per school rules, yet that is exactly what Mahiro is doing as she tries to help her family out financially. Of course, Hinata finds out her secret, although he hasn't quite figured out yet that the pretty girl that's caught his eye is actually Mahiro in her work uniform.
And that's about it - it's very straight forward and through spending time together, both realise the other isn't too bad. It's cute and it's pretty to look at. Not a must, but it's nice to have in the collection if you're an Aikawa fan and it's not a bad on for language practice as it's a daily life contemporary setting.

Otra vez Saki Aikawa. ¡Con lo que me gustan sus ilustraciones y resulta que últimamente no me gustan sus tramas y personajes, sus historias en si, vamos!
Una de mis historias favoritas comienza con una sinopsis parecida pero hasta ahi llegaban las similitudes.
¿De que trata esta historia? Mahiro es una empollona, la tipica que estudia mucho, que usa gafitas, vamos, un enorme cliche, y mas si le sumamos que es poco agraciada y que Hinata, solo la ve como una chica fea.
¿Que quien es Hinata? Pues otro cliche. El tipico niñato rico que va por ahi despreciando a las personas, creyendose irresistible y el tio mas listo y mas sexy de Tokio.
¿Y donde se conocen ambos? Pues ya son compañeros de clase. Él siempre la llama fea y ella se enfada y bueno, que no se soportan. Después coinciden con ella vestida de maid (porque trabaja en un cafe de cosplay) y aprovechando que él no la reconoce y que se la quiere ligar comienza esta 'aventura'.
Esta es una de las peores parejas con las que me he cruzado, de esas que ni de lejos deberian acabar juntos porque solo se torturan mutuamente debido a que ¡se odian y punto! Nunca llegan a enamorarse, nunca llegan a cambiar su opinión sobre el otro. Hinata y Mahiro NO se gustan a pesar de ese imposible de creer happy end.
Mahiro e Hinata NO me gustaron, eran muy, muy irritantes, y soporiferos, igual que su historia. Y absurdos.
Fue una de esas historias sin gracia que no son ni romanticas ni originales ni creibles. Una pérdida de tiempo.
Lo único salvable son las ilustraciones.
En resumen: Exasperante, frustrante, y termina por ser odioso.

I enjoyed this light school life shoujou manga. It's one volume and originally ran in Sho-comi. It's short and sweet. Both characters are likable and not sickening sweet. There is also no drama of a third party intentionally misdirecting the main characters either. Everything is done artlessly and with a lot of humorous moments.
There's nothing to this story though. Nothing really deep. But it's enjoyable. Mahiro is the oldest of her three siblings and pretty much is the one responsible for running their household and earning the money to support her family. She is also the top honor student at her school but unfortunately, she has to work in secret as it is against the rules to work as an honor student. She deals with her rival Hinata who disparages her and calls her a nerd who studiously works on her studies and doesn't enjoy life, not knowing that Mahiro is secretly supporting her family. She risks discovery when he inadvertently bumps into her while she is working. Luckily, she is in costume, makeup and not very recognizable from her everyday look. And he's smitten. So, we can guess what pretty much plays out here.
It's fun. I enjoyed it. I also get a big kick out of the English title used in the other editions. Secret Time or Secretive Hour is the more direct translation but My Nerdy Girl works too ;)
