From the Back Cover: "The most comprehensive study to date of the man exciting aspects of the incredible business of Space. This book describes The National Imperative - the why and how of our commitment to probe the unknown; Space Men in Business - today's biggest management job; Businessmen in Space - the challenge to free enterpise's talents; Live and Death in Space - the mysteries and hazards to be faced."
Written in 1962, this is an excellent time capsule look at the state of the early space industry. With the benefit of hindsight and history, it is very interesting to read what projected missions and concepts actually came to fruition in the 1960s-70s. The prospectus chapters on companies such as North American Aviation and GE are not very relevant now, however, and can be skipped.
A good snapshot of what questions we were asking ourselves about space, and the massive investments being made to launch ourselves toward the stars without knowing the outcome.
