Anna's cat has four kittens and she wants to keep all of them! However, they begin to make mischief all over the house and her father wants to get rid of them. Anna decides to make them a kitten castle to play in, so that they stay out of the way. When her father returns home from a business trip, he loves the castle because it occupies the kittens and he decides that they can stay. This book could be used for a math unit, because it discusses various types of shapes when she is building the castle.
This is a cute story with colorful pictures that are filled with all different types of shapes. It's actually a math connections book so I would definitely use it for math - teaching about the different shapes. There is also a shapes chart at the end of the book that charts how many sides, corners, etc each shape has. I would use this for pre-k through 1st grade.
