Even though she graduated with a degree in science, Tara knew she’d never be happy doing anything other than writing. Specifically, writing love stories.
She started with a racy BDSM story and found she was not quite prepared for the unforeseen impact it would have. Nonetheless, she continued and The Submissive Series novels would go on to be both New York Times and USA Today Bestsellers. One of those, THE MASTER, was a 2017 RITA finalist for Best Erotic Romance.
Now she is focusing on new contemporary romances that allow her the freedom to write and publish on her own schedule.
If you love suspense and mystery in heavy dose in your romance, Seductive Lies by Tara Sue Me is a perfect choice for you. This secret marriage billionaire romance has twists after twists. Bea and Knox were fighting some real danger while finding a balance in their love life.
From the description, I assumed it can be read as a standalone. However, that's not right . Technically it is story of Knox and Bea's happily ever after but it is actually a continuing story about enemies of Benedict brothers and as soon as I read the first chapter, I realised I have dropped in middle of the story. The main couple is definitely Knox and Bea. But their meeting and how they fell in love and the secret marriage all happened in previous Benedict brother’s book. Here we are starting from a point where Bea has pushed Knox away to save him after an attack on her and it concerns their family business secret.
This story concentrates on how Knox protects Bea and how they decide to fight this battle against the enemy together. Knox is a billionaire alpha who is very protective and not being able to control Bea's safety was painful to him. Bea is a smart and strong woman but the attack left her shaken and traumatized. She tries to handle the trauma and the ongoing threat alone but it was too much and Knox stepped in to support her after much resistance on her side. The other brothers and the suspense take up a significant part of the story. I wish I could read the parts about how they fell in love and about their impulsive secret Vegas marriage. This one was all about the conflict and suspense.
I honestly picked this up because the author's old work years ago about BDSM that I loved so much. You will enjoy this too if you read the youngest brother’s book first.
I thought I could read this as a stand-alone without reading book 1 first, but sadly, I could not. At least not without being hella confused. I really liked the writing and the characters, so I tried to stick with it, but the story just went over my head. It felt like I was dropped into something and expected to know the situation and relationship between the characters and slide right into the action without any lube. I mean...they're married but it seems to be an "in name only" type of thing, yet there's no explanation given, which is only more confusing when you see how much this guy loves this woman he keeps referring to as his wife yet she supposedly wants nothing to do with him....? It is really odd to start a romance with one of them already neck-deep in love with the other. I will probably pick up book 1 and read it then come back to this later, because it did pique my interest.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing a free copy in exchange for my honest review.
This was the first book I read from the series (although its the second book) and I am a huge huge romantic suspense fan when it’s written well. This book was well laid out though I did feel I missed a little of the back story since I skipped book one. The romance aspect was very good, spice was also good. The suspense was well thought out and portrayed. I would definitely read more books from this author!
Seductive Lies (The Benedict Brothers Book 2 By: Tara Sue Me
📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚 Almost startling from go!
Since this was book two in the Benedict brothers series I thought I knew what to expect. While yes the writing is consistent that didn’t take away from how quickly I got sucked in. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
SEDUCTIVE LIES is the second instalment in Tara Sue Me’s contemporary, adult THE BENEDICT BROTHERS erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the Benedict Brothers: Keaton, Knox and Kipling. This is Knox Benedict, and twenty-nine year old attorney Bea Jacobs’ story line. SEDUCTIVE LIES can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order as there is an ongoing premise throughout.
NOTE: SEDUCTIVE LIES is the re-release and re-written DEADLY SECRET written as Tara Thomas.
Told from dual omniscient third person perspectives (Bea and Knox), and first person Jade Mann, SEDUCTIVE LIES continues to follow in the aftermath of the attacks against Tilly Brock (Perilous Kiss), and our story line heroine. Someone is taking aim at the Benedict family, and the women they love are caught in the crossfire. Bea has been attacked, threatened and loved one gone missing, but her relationship with Knox may be the precipitating factor. Loving Knox Benedict means walking away when the threats become personal, and Bea refuses to place Knox in the direct line of fire. As the family continues to search for information about the past, someone else is taking aim at our story line couple. Meanwhile, the young homeless woman known as Jade, continues to find herself in a perilous situation. Somehow connected to the Benedict family, Jade will come in and out of their lives until the day new information comes to light, revealing the truth.
The world building continues to focus on the Benedict family, the death of their parents, and the connections to Tilly Brock and the man who has been blamed for destroying their lives. Bea Jacobs has fallen in love with Knox Benedict but her love may be what destroys them all.
The relationship between Bea and Knox is one of secrets. The family is more or less unaware of Bea and Knox’s relationship, a relationship that is much more than what is appears on the surface. Bea struggles to keep her distance but separation and love threaten them both. The $ex scenes are intimate without the use of over the top sexually graphic language and text.
The secondary and supporting characters include Knox’s brothers Keaton and Tilly (Perilous Kiss), Kipling; housekeeper Maggie, security Tom, as well as a Bea’s client Jade Mann.
SEDUCTIVE LIES is a story of power and control, betrayal and vengeance, secrets and lies, family and friendships, relationships and love. The premise is intriguing and captivating; the romance is seductive ; the characters are dynamic and desperate. SEDUCTIVE LIES ends on a cliff hanger-you have been warned.
Secret passageways, houses blowing up, lies, mystery, betrayal, and more. Oh, my!😱
“Thinking about anything having to do with the Benedicts could stir a pot of trouble she wasn’t prepared to deal with.”
🔥I read the first book so you know I screamed when I saw the second book was available!
⚠️CW: Please check the warnings as the book may not be suitable for all readers. As always, protect your mental health.💛
Tropes: ✨murder mystery ✨Secret marriage ✨Suspense ✨Spicy🌶️
6 weeks after the first book ended, Bea is at work trying to live a normal life as if she wasn’t attacked not that long ago. With the threat on Knox, life isn’t the same without him in it.
“There was no doubt in my mind I was the prey, and he was the lion. I was being hunted.” Jade, the favorite mystery character we’ve known to have her hand forced into bad actions over and over again. Yet she’s always drawn to the Benedicts and their friends.
While they are still trying to solve the mystery of it all. Everyone’s life seems to be in constant danger. Will they finally figure out who King is? Will they survive this or will it drive them further a part of each other? Will Jade ever be safe again?
Tom was a shocker. I knew something was up with him the way Jade reacted to hearing his voice.
Knox shows Bea his surprise for her. Not only does she love it but there is a secret letter waiting for them with changes everything and more questions appear.
Can’t wait for the 3rd book to come out!
Thank you, BooksGoSocial, for the EARC! As always, my review is my opinion and thoughts. This review will be shared on my Instagram (@Alexandriavwilliams_) shortly.
This is book two in The Benedict Brother’s series and it is Knox and Bea’s story and it is definitely a must read. When Bea was attacked and beaten so badly that she needed to stay in hospital the last thing that she could remember was to stay away from Knox because the next time it would be one of there lives so Bea knew even though it would be hard to do she needed to do it too save both of there lives. Knox is furious about Bea being beaten but what was more surprising was when she told him to go and she never wanted to see him again but Knox was determined to find out who did this and why and he wouldn’t give in until the threat had been dealt with especially as he seemed to think that it had something to do with his family and also what nobody knows including his family is that him and Bea are married which is making everything even more difficult but his love for Bea is so strong that he will never give up on them regardless of what happens and what he had to do. Danger is all around them and they don’t know who to trust or who it is and why they are being targeted but as the body’s are still piling up and the surprises keep coming will they be able to keep safe and protect each other before everything is taken away from them all. Wow I absolutely love this book with all its twists and turns along the way and I couldn’t put it down because it had you turning the pages while having you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next and then you get an explosive cliffhanger that will have you needing the next book to see what the outcome will be for them all in the end.
I definitely don't encourage you to read this one without reading the first book in the series beforehand. I think it can be read as a standalone but it really is meant to be read in order. This book picks up about six weeks after the end of the first book. While Bea's trauma is focused on in this book, the first book is where you fully understand what has happened to her. Tara Sue Me did an excellent job describing how Bea is continuing to deal with the trauma she has been through. Tara Sue Me made it feel palpable and it was very real. I also liked that she didn't rush those feelings or experiences that come with dealing with trauma and beginning to recover from it.
Knox was a character that made his intentions very clear from moment one and stuck with those intentions throughout the entirety of the book. He was also a character not afraid to back down from a challenge and one who didn't turn away in fear. Knox faced whatever obstacles came his way. And believe me, there are plenty of obstacles. Because there is certainly a lot of action in this book. There are also a lot of twists and turns. I was kind of surprised that there weren't more steamy scenes. Especially since the love between Knox and Bea had already been established. But overall, this was a great book and I definitely recommend it. You should definitely read the first one before this and then you can join us in anxiously awaiting the third one!
Seductive Lies is the second book in the Benedict Brothers series by Tara Sue Me and follows Bea and her kind of secretly estranged husband Knox Benedict. I hadn’t read the first book so I did feel I was at a slight disadvantage but eventually I caught up with the general gist of what was taking place. Bea had been in an accident some weeks ago and was experiencing some intense PTSD and anxiety. Following her traumatic experience she decided to end her whirlwind marriage and try to carry on life normal. Knox was devastated by the separation and continued to keep an eye on Bea as she has worsening anxiety attacks and some threatening notes begin showing up again. As her stalker returns with the threats becoming more invasive and violent, Knox takes no risks with keeping Bea safe. I definitely think I would have experienced the story better through reading book one as the first 25% of Seductive Lies was confusing to me as I tried to catch up with previous events. It was a quick read with a satisfying but teasing end, preparing the reader for the third book as it appears the stalker Bea faced was only the beginning. Knox and Bea were great together although there was no build up in anticipation for their romance as it was already established. As always with shorter books, I personally feel I could connect with the characters and story better if it had been longer but that’s just my personal opinion. Thank you for the eARC!
Success. Wealth. Power. Franklin Benedict left his three sons a legacy and an empire, and the brothers are now at the helm of one the most powerful shipping corporations in the world.
The blurb of this book said that the books can be read as a standalone and that they all have a HEA with an overarching mystery that doesn’t get solved until the end of book three. I didn’t think that this book read well as a standalone and there was just too much that you could tell happened in the first book that would make so many things make more sense. I also didn’t really get a HEA feeling from the ending of this book, like they were together but it didn’t feel like the end of their story as there was kind of a cliffhanger.
I didn’t feel the chemistry between the two MCs and I think that also had a lot to do with whatever I missed from the first book. Like they were already married by the second book so you miss out on them falling in love. So I guess my suggestion is that if you’re planning on reading this series the read it from book one 😊
Thanks to #NetGallery and the publisher. I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Genre: Romance Format: Digital POV: Multiple Spice: 🌶️🌶️/5 Age suggestion: 18+
This is the second novel in Tara Sue Me’s Benedict Brothers Series. It can be read as either a standalone novel or as part of the series of three. If you read all three though to the end you get to read about a larger intriguing being solved. This book covers all genres, romance, mystery, suspense and of course lots of steamy sex. Set in Charleston, North Carolina, this novel focuses upon the eldest brother, Knox, who hires Bea Jacobs, a lawyer (who is also his secretly estranged wife) to investigate some old business files. Bea has recently been attacked by an unknown assailant and is suffering from PTSD which is why she separated from Knox. He is devastated and continues to watch over and protect her as her stalker has returned. Written from both the MCs point of view I didn’t enjoy this as much as I thought I would. Although it s stated that it can be read as a standalone novel, her assailant doesn’t get identified in this one and they get married in the first. The novels are too interlinked to be read separately. Maybe if they were published as a trilogy it would work better. It is a well written book. Just not my favourite.
Let me start by saying that I did not read the first book in this series, and I picked this one up because the blurb sounded good, and it said it could be read as a stand alone. While technically true, it CAN be read as a standalone, let me say I do not recommend it. I could tell I was missing alot of information, it kind of felt like I was dumped into the middle of a story. While I was able to follow along, I know it would have made alot more sense if I'd read the first book. That's the main reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5, simply because I was confused by alot of things because it shouldn't be read as a standalone. Having said that, I really enjoyed the story! I like Knox and his family, and I liked Bea. I like the dynamic between them, although she did things at times that I found frustrating! But it was a good story, it built suspense, and now I really want to go back and read book one, and THEN read the next book! It leaves you with a bit of a cliffhanger and I need to know what happens next now!
Wow, wow, wow, this book was jam-packed with so much action and mystery. From the title I was expecting more spice but my gosh I haven't read an action-packed romance in a while and this book has me wondering why I haven't read this kind of genre sooner.
Throughout the whole book, I was rooting for Knox. He cared for and loved Bea so much. Bea was such a complex character and I really liked how the author made her so real. She was still affected by what happened to her, she has her triggers. In the real world someone doesn't get over a traumatic event in just a week, I appreciated the realism of a victim that this author conveyed.
There. were so many moments where I thought I knew where the story was going and then BAM, total switch up. This book had suspense, betrayal, healing, found family and so much more.
This was my first run with the series. I never read book 1. I will say that this is not a standalone because there were nuggets of information missing that I would have really liked to read (such as how Knox and Bea fell in love). In this series they are married and Bea is traumatized and appears to have been mentally and physically abused by an unknown assailant which has left her in state of fear. Knox (in love with his wife and in looking out for their best interest) stands by Bea's side and undergoes an exciting world wind of events which eventually connects the families and reveals unknown secrets. I was over the moon with this book! It was a constant page turner that I did not want to put it down! If you like mystery and romance, you will love this little number. I plan to read book 1 and any books in the series. I look forward to reading more on the Benedict family!
This story captivated me with its blend of romance and suspense. In this second installment of the Benedict Brothers series, I dove into the intricate world of Franklin Benedict's heirs, their wealth, and the shadows of their past. The story centers on Bea Jacobs and Knox Benedict, a couple facing hurdles from Bea's traumatic accident. Bea's PTSD and anxiety felt palpable as I journeyed through her struggles. Despite missing the first book, the plot slowly unfolds, revealing layers of family secrets and threats. Despite their separation, Knox's unwavering devotion to Bea's safety was heartwarming. I craved more backstory about their relationship, yet appreciated the suspenseful narrative filled with unexpected twists. Tara Sue Me masterfully painted the characters' emotions, making me eagerly await the third book to unravel the lingering mysteries.
I wanna start this by saying that because I hadn’t read the first book I felt I was at a disadvantage. So if you’re going to read this book I can’t recommend enough that you read the first on before this one. Having said this, I really enjoyed Knox and Bea’s relationship and the chemistry that they share. Even though there’s so much happening around them that may be dangerous, he always tries to protect her as much as he possibly can, even when she proves she can do it by herself.
I loved the secret marriage aspect as well as all the suspense that happens throughout the book. So if you’re looking for a dark romance with lots of suspense around it, this is the book to read.
*Thank you to NetGalley, Tara Sue Me, and Books Go social for the opportunity to read and review this book, but all thoughts are my own*
I will admit that I had not read the first book prior to reading this (the second in the series). Although the author says you coulddd read the book as a standalone, I wouldn't recommend that you do.
However, reading the book for what it was, it was incredible. The way Knox would crumble at the sight of her, never wanting to let her go, made my heart rush. It has been a long time since I have read a romance book packed with so much action. Following Bae and her fight to heal her trauma and charge against those who have hurt her was inspiring to say the least. Her story makes you feel connected to her in ways I feel connected to my own friends.
Overall, it was a great book and I will now need to go read the 1st one!
Seductive Lies is full of intrigue, suspense and drama. There's murder, arson, blackmail, kisnapping, threats and misdirection galore. Some wants the investigation into Benedict Industries business dealings halted. Knox Benedict and Bea Jacobs are caught up in this investigation. It's seemingly ruined their relationship because she'll have nothing to do with him since her brutal attack. However, it's time for the truth to be told and after narrowly escaping a burning house with lives, it's more important that ever to be honest with their families. As the fact gathering contines it becomes more and more apparent that past events are not what what were assumed to be true. There's definitely a cover up here and a young homeless woman maybe key to finding the truth.
This is the continuing story to unravel mysteries that plague the Benedict Brothers. Knox is the middle Benedict Brother. He also works at Benedict Enterprises. Bea is an attorney. She also wants to run for Congress. She’s somehow involved with Knox, but even his brothers don’t know how yet. Just another mystery to be unraveled by them, but the reader now knows. Their relationship is complicated to say the least. And the mysteries continue as new ones arise. Some things are solved. This is a wonderful love story with so much action you feel it along with the characters. So much feeling, anxiety and emotional. A big reveal at the end and then onto the last brother, Kipling.
In this sequel, Bea and Knox work to find their way to each other while sorting through mysteries about his family. While this mostly reads as a romance, it also has some thriller vibes weaved through and kept me wondering what the characters would find next. I read this as an ARC and did not have a chance to read book one, but I was still instantly rooting for Bea and Knox. The author made it clear that Knox loved Bea and would move heaven and earth for her, without the backstory of book one, which is quite a feat!
I enjoyed the writing style, it was a quick easy read. Overall, the plot did feel a bit far fetched, but I will eagerly be awaiting book three to see how things unfold.
I enjoy Knox and Bea’s relationship and the chemistry that the two of them have. There is a lot of danger surrounding the both of them and Knox just wants to do everything he can to protect her, even if she wants to handle everything in her own way.
Their story is suspense heavy though and I do wish there was a little more of their romance in it at times.
While this is book two in the series and each book is a different brother, the suspense and mystery aspect it continues through each book so it is really best to start with book 1 to fully understand everything that is going on.
If you’re looking for a secret marriage, romantic suspense check this one out.
Seductive Lies is the second book in The Benedict Brothers trilogy by Tara Sue Me. This is the a book formerly published as Deadly Secrets. This book is about Knox and Bea. Bea was beaten and warned that she had to stay away from Knox if she wanted him to stay safe, but she won't tell why. Knox is determined to find out. Knox and Bea also had secret from everyone else. They had been investigating information on Mr. Brock's alleged embezzlement. The book was a great continuation from the first book in the series. In addition to their own relationship, Bea and Knox worked with the rest of the Benedicts on the questions surrounding Tilly's father and the other strange information that they discovered. As they get closer, it gets more dangerous,. I really enjoyed this secret relationship romantic suspense novel. It was witty and fun and full of action. The chemistry between the couple was super hot and the emotion bled through. I would definitely recommend it for lovers of romantic suspense such as Rebecca Zanetti or Linda Howard. I am voluntarily submitting this honest review after reading an advanced complementary copy of this book thanks to Netgalley and Booksgosocial.
I really liked the book and was hooked from the start. This is part of a series but they can be read separately but I would not recommend it. I didn't read the first one so it took me a bit longer to understand the dynamics of the characters. The book was fast paced and packed with lots of interesting things I was so invested read read it in one go. I want someone to love like like Knox does Bea they were so cute and he cared for her so much. I had my suspicions about the characters and when it was said I knew I was right. I really liked it and definitely recommend it.
Honestly, I didn’t like this as much as the first book. Knox and Bea was very devoted to each other, they really loved each other. The status of their relationship was a bit surprising. The story was a bit slower, wasn’t as action-packed, the on-goings didn’t even make me flinch. The ending was not shocking, altough I’m curious how everything will turn out in the final book. Nevertheless, it was still enjoyable and I still recommend this series.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me a copy of the book.
Seductive Lies is the 2nd installment in the Benedict Brothers series. I would definitely recommend reading the series in order, since having started with this book, I felt like I was missing a lot of background info. As the blurb mentions, the suspense part is not resolved and so the book ends in a cliffhanger. I missed the feeling of romance between Knox and Bea. It is more a re-uniting of lovers separated by a misconception, resulting in some steamy scenes and a HFN. I received a free copy of the book through Netgalley and am leaving my review voluntarily and honestly.
I thought that this was a really good story and it was a thoroughly enjoyable read
The plot was well developed and it was romantic and sexy.
It was well written with a great pace to keep you engaged with the story, there were a few areas where it was a little disjointed in places but that didn’t spoil the book.
It is 4 stars from me for this one, highly recommended but it does leave you wanting book 3!
Seductive Lies by Tara Sue Me is book two in The Benedict Brothers Series. This is the story of Knox and Bea. This is a interconnecting series so it does help to have read the previous book if felt. Bea was beating really bad and she knew for her and Knox safety she needed to stay away from him. But Knox is out to find who did this. Enjoyed.
