Appearing daily on the ABC network, The Chew celebrates and explores life through food, with a group of dynamic, engaging, fun, relatable co-hosts who serve up everything to do with food-from cooking and home entertaining to food trends, restaurants, holidays, and more-all aimed at making life better, fuller, and more fun.
THE CHEW: WHAT'S FOR DINNER? captures the show's trademark wit, fun, practical advice, and recipes-and highlights ways to make dinner fun. Formatted like 2012's standout bestseller, THE CHEW, this all-new book features more than 100 delectable recipes, perfect for each day of the week, from Manic Monday (fast and easy), to Friday Funday (delicious treats), as well as the weekend. It will also feature favorite segments from the show like, "What's in My Fridge?" "Grandma's Iron Chef Challenge" and "Leftover Makeover" as well as the ever popular, "Clinton's Craft Corner." It will be filled with mouth-watering photographs and lively graphics so it is every bit as pleasing and inviting as the first book.
Our verdict on this cookbook is that it is just 'okay'. At first we thought it would be a good choice because of the colourful cover (thinking it would have great colour pictures of the recipes and steps) but it was more of a promotional vehicle for the show, filled with jokes that related to each of the co-stars and their personas. So, the overwhelming amount of supporting text and bells and whistles distracted from the recipes and made it less fun to read through.
It would be a nice choice for a fan of the television show but the recipes weren't simple and the design of the book made it seem too busy to enjoy. Even though we love Michael Symon from Iron Chef and find his style to be so appealing there really was too much "The Chew" for us to enjoy it as a stand alone cookbook.
Great chefs, with beautiful food and they can tell you how to cook like a pro chef, but I need more simple, quick, every day recipes I can get on the table in a hurry. Most recipes in this book call for expensive ingredients, a lot of time, or an endless list of ingredients. There were only a handful of recipes I would actually use. Was hoping this would be more useful than the previous book for the average busy home cook on a budget, but was disappointed. Also, needs more photos of the actual food.
Simple recipes that you can find on The Chews website or on pinterest. Pick your favorite and pin them. No need to buy the book. I saw a taping of The Chew. Carla Hall is a delight. She mingled with the audience talking and dancing. Michael Symon--the best cook in my opinion was so nice. Going into the audience and talking. Mario--great talking to the audience from the stage, Clinton stayed after to talk to the audience. Daphne Oz is a snob--she didn't interact at all. I think she got this job cause of her father.
I love The Chew TV show. I did not love their cook book because it was more a tribute to the show then a cookbook. For example there were more pictures about cast and audience than food in the book. I wanted to learn how to cook the recipes on the show. I watch a TV therefore I'm a visual person so it isn't a stretch to imagine that I'd want to see pictures of the food in the cookbook, but it took work to actually find pictures of food. Not high praise in my mind for a cookbook.
I enjoyed this book I was a little disappointed that some of the recipes I wanted to try I couldn't find a picture for but I completely understand the reason behind it.
There are some great recipes in here from easy to not so easy but they all seem very good.
I was expecting this book to be better than it actually was. I love the show but most of the recipes in here were either something I wouldn't eat or too many ingredients/complicated to make. I thought it was just ok.
I love this show...the book is structured just like the show. They focus on one are for several pages while including friendly banter along with ideas for hosting dinners. The pages are a bit busy but the pictures are amazing. I'm hungry just reading.
Many of the recipes that you see on the TV show. It was fun to leaf through, but it really doesn't have the everyday recipes that I'd use regularly. Don't think I'd buy it.
