I’ll try to make this one quick:
So, for anyone who loves the university romance trope, In the Pocket is a fun read. The story follows Wyatt, a star quarterback with a bright future ahead, and Katie, a former child star determined to keep her past a secret. Their chemistry is undeniable, and the tension between Wyatt’s growing fame and Katie’s desire for privacy creates an engaging dynamic, one that had me hooked.
In regard to the story itself, overall the pacing was great, like I said they were so well-suited for each other, I was invested in their journey, and I genuinely enjoyed watching them grow together. However, if I’m being honest, and peeps—don’t hate, but the ending left me a little unsatisfied. It wrapped up a bit too quickly, and while I was happy for them, I kind of expected a bigger moment or grand gesture to really seal the deal; maybe I got a slice of that with Katie’s grand gesture of I love You, I don’t know. It wasn’t a deal-breaker, but something definitely felt like it was missing. *let me know in the comments if you felt the same.
That said, Jessica Ruddick has serious talent! She kept me entertained, hooked, and invested in the characters the whole way through. I’d definitely recommend this to anyone who loves a good quarterback romance, especially if you’re into that “jock searching for his queen” vibe.
